Last night I felt like going out for some drinks and karaoke and decided to go to a more mainstream karaoke bar in town at a touristy area (too much drama at gay bars). I got all dressed up in my LBD, knee high black boots and my new curly blonde hair piece. I looked fabulous if I say so myself. So I went to the bar and was accepted for what I presented as, no strange looks or anything. Ordered my drink and took a table. I sang 2 songs and chatted with a couple of other patrons, but the place was dead and boring so I left afer 2 drinks to look for another place. Every place I checked out was just at dead, being a Tuesday night. So I decided to get something to eat and settled on Dennys. Walked in and was treated like the lady I am. Ordered and chatted with the server. While I was eating a male cashier came up to me and told me I looked fantastic, I thanked him and continued eating. As I got up to pay my bill another server said I looked so pretty and if I was going anywhere that night. We chatted for a bit and then I went to the cashier to pay. Chatted with the complimentary cashier and my server. The cashier told me next time I was there to ask for him, that he would like to take care of me, mmmmm? I thanked him again for the compliment and left and went home. Was a good night I guess, tonight should be better, I'm going out with friends to our regular Wednesday night karaoke bar.

Peace and Love
Gerri

Sounds like a fun almost average night out. You brought brightness to a dull slow evening for them, and if they are sincere in their compliments, you may have made some new friends.

Hell-o Gerri,
That's sounds like a fairly fun Tuesday, or a Wednesday, Thurs...
Oh Hell! It sounds better than any night out dressed that I've had
(or haven't had!) recently.
What songs were you singing?
Much Love,
Kristyn

I know a back handed compliment when I hear it, my wife was the Queen of Back Handed Compliments. I sang Pride and Joy by Stevie Ray and Love Me by Elvis.

Hell-o MSG,
No backhandedness was even remotely intended.
Maybe I need to work on my writing skills???
I am actually envious of your adventures.
Honestly, I haven't been out dressed, or even dressed at home,
since before Christmas.
So thank you for sharing your night out, and please post more
about your future outings.
Much Love,
Kristyn

Well done Majella kudos to you.
See no need to just go to gay bars people she has proven you can go anywhere.
I was out on Tuesday hitting some antique shops that I normally don't go to because they are super high end kinds of places.
I had on black dress slacks white button up blouse, dark grey blazer.
Silver rings and a few bangle bracelets. Black ankle boots.
The antique shops paid no undo attention to me and treated me as any female customer. Ma'am was used several times.
Went to dinner at Cracker Barrel and I was treated as a female customer would be.
Normal places and normal treatment by normal people.I call that a win.

I was referring to the other reply about the compliments being sincere.

Not having experienced it yet, I am fascinated with the possibility of a night out and look forward to the day. I wish I had moved down this path years ago but better late than never. I hope this isn't a stupid comment but I would need serious help to get to that point. I mean a beginners course. Congratulations Majella and thanks for the encouragement.

dress to fit the occasion. I've over-dressed and drew too much attention. lesson learned

In a previous post, I related that I dressed to pickup my fiance' at the airport. Middle of the day, crossed international border thru customs&Immigration, entered airport and waited with all the rest of the folk. No issues (well except a grumpy Customs guy who did not approve). I was dressed to blend but still dressed prettily.
A followup: was at dentist in drab. acquaintance comes in, we exchange pleasantries but he wanted to get something out that was bubbling in back of his head. Apparently he recognized my car on the way to airport, recognized me driving, was trying to get my attention on highway to no avail. As he was describing (loudly in the dentist office) me what I was wearing whilst driving (wig and all) and I said "yep that was me." He was glad for confirmation but then you could see the gears start to move in his head as the realization hit what exactly I said and what he saw.

I chuckled on the way out. Haven't seen him since.
