View Full Version : Outed myself at the Gym

So I was at the gym yesterday in DRAB but with a pair of panties underneath that had lace trim. Well apparently my shirt had ridden up or my shorts down because apparently the lace was showing. As I finished up a set, a woman came up to me and whispered, 'Be careful, your panties are showing'. No other comments were made and she walked away. I saw her again as she was leaving and whispered to her 'Thank you'. She just gave me a brief smile and continued on her way.

Guess I need to be a bit more careful

I am paranoid to the tune of never leaving much to chance, when I'm in public anyway...I dread the scenario you just had... I think I have always hated the attention, at least when I am not trying for attention (on stage and whatnot)..What do you do with it now, anything? Any concerns you were seen by any others? just asking as if it were my mind were going thru this...

I wear panties under my drab wear most days except when I go to the gym. The other day I forgot to change and was spotted by a guy. He didn't say anything but he knew. Whoops, have to be more careful.

A potential friend?

That's almost as good as a friendly hand brushing your bra strap.

Potential friend? sure why not...good positive spin on it, well done.
Elysia, Thinking on that situation, I'd conclude (only by the info supplied) He may have thought it's girlfriend "leftover" in other words, maybe the girlfriend (or SO, you know what I mean) put you up to it, I had a similar situation wearing a bandana in high school...if it weren't for the girlfriend excuse on that one, I might have had a problem on my hands...Grateful for an excuse on that day...High school were dark days indeed

Jackie, I agree she will likely end up a gym friend. At least a giant, jacked up, phobe didn't spot them. Or did they?

I am a controller in most things. If there is a chance I would be outed, I want to be in control of it. When people see me dressed, to any degree, it's because I want them to.

Underdressing during a workout in public isn't a good idea. Unless you secretly want someone to see the top of your panties...?

Its the old underlying urge to get caught thing which is pretty common on this site.
The lady was just being nice I wouldn't worry about it.
I think you quite possibly made a friend and isn't that what you wanted by letting your panties be seen?

I try to wear panties most days. I have even thought about wearing them to the gym, however that is the exact scenario that scares the crap out of me. So I usually go home and shower and put them on.

Hey, compared to the many things that could go wrong in the gym or on your way to and from, this is less than a 1 on the disaster scale. Ignore and move on. She was being very kind.

Yep you got busted wearing cloths. So what. I am sure other people saw it too and it didn't even register especially at a gym when everyone is in to their work out often with their headphones on. I will admit that when I am at the gym I do notice all the other women there but I do that in the super market too.
I wouldn't worry about it but keep going to the gym and working out for health.
Have fun

I belong to a gym as well, but I'll never tell where..haha

Is there a subconscious desire to break out of your shell and scream to the world "Look at Me!" I do not know, unless there is that subconscious desire, why so many fear being outed yet 'forget' to hide their panties at the gym or discover their physicians asks them to disrobe at the doctors' office.

I wear panties every day go to the gym 3 times a week just make sure I have long tailed shirts on so they don't come up that far but if they show oh well the only time I don't have panties on is when I go to the doctors

In reply to some of the questions...

<<What do you do with it now, anything? Any concerns you were seen by any others??? Won't do anything differently. And don't know or care if I was seen by others. Will be more mindful of this in the future.

<<Are you going to wear your panties to the Gym again ???>> Yes that's all I own.

I wouldn't worry about it. When I go to the gym I wear panties and biege support pantyhose. And I usually wear shorts when it is hot. If anyone says anything I say the doctor advised me to wear them for leg problem which is true. Well she encouraged my wearing them. My wife won't argue with the doctor. Only had to use it once and the person apologized. Was funny. Nobody really cares.

Don't worry about it girl. Just get back at it. I wear panties to the gym 3+ days a week. Although Vanity Fair string bikinis, so not a lot to show if my tights drop a bit. Just be aware and like Ronda said, wear a longer shirt. -Meg

I went swimming and I was underdressed with panties. I remembered that I was underdressed before I left the house and just thought whatever, just take them off with my pants right, nobody will see. Didn't really think through putting them back on after. Afterwards I just changed like any other day and no one said a word about my panties. Now I'm thinking why do I worry about underdressing at the doctors. It's really no big deal if you don't make it one.

Hey, stuff happen! I am the same as you, panties are simply my underwear. I also wear them to the gym daily, even changing my clothes in the locker room. However, that draw string is pulled tight during my workout and the lace panties are my weekend wear. As long as you are either wearing a shirt or pants, no one can really see what you have on down there anyway.

hmm interesting thread,
At least she did not make a big drama scene out of it I was at the gym recently and I was wearing a mans version of bikinis because they look so much like panties exept for the roomier pouch for the bits, this one guy nearby could not keep his eyes off them ,outside I ignored him ,inside was wondering what his reaction wold have been if i as actually wearing panties??:heehee: I go to the dr in panties and bra as well he asked me once on this and I tod him how I felt about my internal self ,( he is from india and seemed indifferent ) , so he examined me and seemed to linger in the chest area explaining he was looking for any possible lumps, to which he added I should read up on breast cancer in males ,he mentioned that even though I encoraged them he called it gyne comastica and not the psuedo version of it either , he then mentioned welcome to your second puberty ,in which we both had a good chuckle so as to where I wear panties almost everywhere ,I find if someone especially a g/g says something is that they are more comfy than the menns attire and fit much better

I wear panties all the time. I have some plain black bikini panties that are sufficiently stealth to not raise eyebrows. The rest are all with lace or obviously female (cut, color). If I'm worried that being outed will be embarrassing, I wear the stealth black bikinis.

No men's underwear in my lingerie drawer though I have some stuffed in a plastic bag in the basement somewhere.

Just in case I'm "cured" some day. Ha ha!

That's why I like my home gym...treadmill or eliptical every morning, Bowflex 3X per week. All in a running skort, sports bra, racerback top, and pink or baby blue sneakers. Nobody says a word, and I'm always smiling!

I used to wear panties to the gym occasionally, but I'd usually wear androgynous panties: red, grey, black or white, usually cotton, no lace. Sometimes I'd wear my men's cotton bikinis. And I still make sure they are hidden.

I don't wear panties now because I wear women's yoga pants or crops, and often women's racerback tops. Oh, and my toes are usually painted, and not some subtle, easy to hide pink. I usually change at the office and skip the locker room and go right to the yoga studio. All the yoga instructors know, and I guess most of the girls do to, but few mention it unless I bring it up first.

Good job it was a woman who spotted your panties. A male gymster might not have been so kind or discreet. The woman might even become a friend or confidante, now that she knows your secret.

I've taken to changing without making an effort to hide my panties, and starting with hard to distinguish black silk gone to pink, and gradually I am feeling safer. The world doesn't collapse on me, the guns don't swing around and point at me- people make their adjustments personally- and I can own my choices- I like that better than the hiding. Clothing is a form of speech, so I can be mindful of what I am 'saying' at the gym- and just having sexy lace underwear itself is only part of the speech- it is how we put it on, how we stand, which direction we face, for how long, etc. So we can communicate what we are expecting of others, and I communicate 'these are mine, I like them, and it is a private matter; I am not hiding, therefore sharing this fact, but it isn't to draw scorn or jokes. My squash partner notices my clothes, and he drew his breath the first time he was chatting with me while we pulled on our underwear. I think he is bewildered and so he just turns away now, but we keep up our chatting and have coffee after. I'm also wearing feminine tops and jewelry, and he is letting himself get accustomed to it, trying to verify I am still the reliable person he likes.

Sounds to me like the woman was trying to be helpful, just in case you didn't want them to show. She acknowledged it in the context of 'be careful' rather than 'I love that brand too"- and her reserve when you thanked her was sort of confirming that she wasn't trying to be your friend, except in that she tries to help underdogs! That said, she isn't rejecting you, so if you try to be her friend on a normal basis of conversation about other things, she probably wouldn't hold underdressing against you. Some people are virtuous in helping those who they don't like however.

njcddresser,

Wasn't it really, really cool that she could handle you in panties, pass on a helpful comment to keep you from being embarrassed by others and your thankyou to her when she was leaving showed to me that she was just another woman that found men that prefer wearing soft and better fitting panties to boxers was No Big Deal, just a person's personal preference. And you had the courage to wear them where other men wouldn't, good for you!!!

In the locker room when showering and changing clothes, how do you feel and has anyone noticed shaved legs and genital area as you put on panties?

And if you do or don't put on your panties in the locker room after you shower you can always go to a bathroom stall, drop your pants and shirt, take your bra and panties out of your gym bag and put them on and when you get in your car then you can insert your breast forms and heels. How do I know this?????

Njcddresser,

It does happen, and people will inevitably find out or notice what you're wearing. If not in the locker room, in group exercises. When I was found out, I was wearing a sports bra on the elliptical machine. An area on my chest and back that was dry when the rest of my shirt was wet. I was almost done when one of my "Bodypump" class mates asked what I was wearing under my shirt. When I looked down and saw for myself there was no reason to lie to her. She offered me a towel to throw over my shoulder to kind of cover me up. Every now and again she puts her hand on my back to check and we both get a giggle but I haven't worn my sports bra back in the gym since.

Join a yoga class, spin, or other group class. Most of the classes I go to are female led and usually I am like the only male in the class. Lots of fun and the cardio will get you back into bikini shape.

I was just pondering this the other day after finishing my workout at the rec center (usually a weight circuit and a 1500K swim).
I was in the mens locker room dressing to leave. And there I was standing in the center of the room decorated in black women's panties (all 6'3", 215 lb of me). Not ambiguous panties either. They are nice obvious panties No one batted an eye, and I truly hadn't given it a pre-thought (that panties in the locker room may draw attention). I wear them 24/7, and at the time I dressed and realized I only had (nice) panties to don, I nearly went commando as the alternative. I checked around the room and it didn't even register with the crowd.
I'm beginning to think this "crossdressing" thing doesn't doesn't even get a rise out of the Public anymore.

i wear panties (boy shorts) every day and most are ultra fem with some being bright pink and others with pink polka dots on blue background or others with the word "Love" written all over them :) i go to a major gym with many members and no one has ever said anything to me about them when i'm changing into the yoga pants i wear to work out in :) i can appreciate your concern as there can be some dummies at the gym who have a need to prove they're 'real men' but i've been fortunate to have them leave me alone :)

That's really a cute story, thanks for sharing!

I'm with the others that suggested more gender-neutral panties for the gym. I own a bunch of cotton bikinis and women's boyshorts that are super cute and comfy. I wear them at the gym, no problems.

I posted this on the shaved legs forum. I shave my legs year'round. Gym daily, Men's shower daily. I wear maidenform thongs, tan, black or peach. or Bodyaware G strings. Period.
When I have tights on I wear thongs - under my shorts I have G Strings. I love g-strings, but they accentuate my bulge.
Anyways, look around, guys aren't really watching anyone dress. Sometimes they will take in my shaved legs - I can see them thinking it over, processing it, but no one has ever said anything to me ( I am also a big muscular guy.).
The trick to dressing is wrap your towel around you to and from the showers. At your locker, put your dress shirt on over the towel wrapped at your waist then button the shirt and lose the towel, quickly slip your thong on and up (make sure your legs are dry or they won't slide easily). Adjust and pull up your trousers. It can be done in a matter of seconds. No one notices. Think about it... Do you watch men put on thier clothes? No. You are self engrossed trying to get dressed and get out. I would be careful with mirrors though. Scope out the locker room to find a spot out of reflection of mirrors or 'gasp' - multiple mirrors).
Only other thing I would say it that most men wear colorful underwear now - So it isn't an issue.... just stay away from pastels and bright pink :)

I'm sorta a loner at the YMCA. This Y is downtown in my hometown and the City where I work as a first responder. I do talk or visit if I run into anyone that I know. I usually arrive in the very early morning (0530-0600), and on no particular set days - just when my schedule allows, I work rotating shift work. I stick to myself in the locker room, chance into my bathing suite and flip-flops then make the long basement tunnel walk to the pool (very cold this time of year). Nothing odd with that so far but my toe nails are polished with a sheer pink and clear topcoat and my finger nails with clear low gloss polish. It's only a concern when I'm sitting in the steam room where other men, if their eyes wander can easily see my toes as the steam dissipates. I sit there remaining strong and confident with myself as I patiently wait for the next round of automatically delivered high-pressure steam to fill the room. Yes, walking around wearing only my flip-flops during/after the shower can also be a little nerve racking. I'm proud of my polished nails but sorta don't want anybody to notice them, that is unless they were okay with it but I understand it's not an accepted mainstream practice. Love my polished nails! As far as I know I've never unwittingly done the panty reveal above my pants waist, but because I wear panties almost exclusively and prefer brazilian cut panties, I'm pretty sure my panty lines have been visible through my pants before. Sometimes I wonder if guys who like to underdress realize how easily panty lines show through men's pants, especially gym clothes, sweats, thin summer shorts etc, but even through jeans.

I have outed myself at the gym. A couple of years ago I started occasionally wearing athletic skirts to the gym, and nowadays I only wear a skirt or capri tights to work out and to yoga class. More recently I’ve gotten a few women’s racerback tops and sports bras. My hair is shoulder length and for exercise it’s in a high ponytail with a headband, and I wear my usual hoop earrings and light daily makeup. I get plenty of 2nd looks but only 2 comments : “Cute skirt!” (from a woman at yoga class whom I see there weekly) and “You’ve got guts,” in the hot tub from a guy I see all the time at the gym. It’s been liberating to “just be me” when I work out, which after all is a time for taking care of myself.
I did have one embarrassing moment: a woman I grew up with in our mid-south city has moved w/her husband to my No. Cal town, and they joined my gym. A few months ago I ran into her and I was dressed as described above. She smiled at my outfit but said nothing and we chatted for a bit as normal. A couple of months later I was visiting my family at home and was talking to one of my oldest friends, a guy I went to school with and played sports with forever. He said “Caroline mentioned she saw you working out in a skirt. She said she thought you were experimenting with your sexuality.”
I said “Man, I’ve been experimenting with my sexuality since I was 12. The results are still inconclusive.”
He chuckled and shook his head and that was that.

I've read almost all the replies to this story at the gym.
Some guys are really open and others are scaried to death to be catched.
I'm bisexual but not the kind of gay looking for other men when in a straight male mode.
When dressed things changed and the woman is out femine and provocative, sensual and teasing.
I normally shave all my body in yhe shower in the gym.
I've notice that men never pay attention to other men except if they are gay or bisexual.
I always tuck and wear women panties I do in the shower that are separate stalls, no curtain or doors then i put my towel on the waist and I dress, drab, in the locker room. I normal wear first the top and then pull of the showet and grab my pants hanging in the locker, so sometimes when grabbing it my butt can be seen for other guys and nobody ever has said anything except those gays or bisexual that are constantly looking to hook up (I've met some but that's another story)
So I wouldn't worry for eyes that don't see anything...

I recently was on a road trip and used the running machines in the hotels. I wore a racer back bra under a racer back tank top on one occasion . No one came in so no issues. At the next hotel, I wore a sports bra under the racer back tank top, white straps on full display, running on the Nordic track. Also wore women's running shorts, although not all that noticeable. A couple women came in and looked around, sat on a couple of the machines but did not do what I would call a work out. If they noticed, I could not tell. They seemed to be in their own world.

Why not just wear men's bikini briefs? Men's bikini briefs offer all of the feminine feel of wearing panties, but they are built with proper functionality. A racing Speedo is also nice to wear underneath workout gear. For me, I find wearing panties only to be practical when I am en femme, as I always tuck things away in femme mode, and stretchy women's undies can work nicely as a gaff.

Ditto what Jillian said.

I had a few pair of men's bikini briefs that were of a surprisingly feminine cut that did the trick...got tons of compliments on them in both Guy and girl mode...:battingeyelashes:
