Ok, I know I'm never gonna win a beauty contest but to hell with it. I can't go on living this lie.

Thus today, the first small step to my happiness and sanity. First session with a Psychologist.
Supportive, totally, which is a good thing. Sad thing is it is going to be a long process :sad:

But the hard step has been taken...

My congratulations, too. That first step IS hard. It was hard to screw up the courage to make calls, and I cried all night after my first appt. Still, you'll find it's not the hard step. In fact, therapy for most turns out to be one of the few real refuges. Take things one step at a time.

Congratulations :-) The first step was terrifying for me too, but it was so worth it! It can be a long process though - I'm still waiting for my referral appointment to come through after my initial consultation so I know how frustrating it can be, but stay strong and keep at them until they do something! Keep us updated, and if you need to vent on here do it - everyone has been really kind and supportive. Just always remember you're on your way!

Once you leave the beauty contest behind, many options open up. ;) Congratulations on making the step. And congratulations on the next step and the next. There is no destination, really -- just a journey. Along that journey, hopefully you'll find that horrors drop away and joy increases as you become more and more yourself. Good luck.
