Tuesday morning I officially came out to a friend.
It was Monday and I don't remember how or why but he was talking about dresses. Then jokingly said something about seeing me in a dress. I (joked) back that I can probably make that happen.
In that same conversation he said he wanted to meet me Tuesday morning to talk about hiring me to work in a restaurant kitchen he started managing this year. I said sure we can meet and talk. Maybe I will even wear a dress! He joked back (maybe not joking now that I think about it) but sad go for it.
So Tuesday before he came over, I got myself dolled up. I wore the burgundy colored sweater dress (I posted I bought last month) and black tights with gold sparkles. And black flats and of course breast forms and everything else.
I wasn't even the least nervous when he knocked on the door. I answered just as I would have any other time.
He took one look at me, smiled. And simply said "we'll look at you!"
After that we both sat down in my living room and talked about the job he was offering me. Not a bother word was spoke about my attire.
I sat and talked confidently and not the least nervous or ashamed.
It felt VERY invigorating and I feel much more confident about coming out to others. Slowly and on my terms though.

It may not be you in the picture, but I'll bet the dress looks awesome on you, and it looks perfect for wearing to a job interview. You made a good choice coming out to someone who understands the need for inclusiveness in the workplace (or should). Did you get the job? Is it the kind of job where you can be dressed?

When I came out to a friend, she used those exact words, then went on with our business .
I applaud your calm courage.,

Now you know he's a true friend, I've found that if you show others you are serious about CDing they tend to accept more that it is a part of you. Sometimes it takes a little longer for them to process this revelation. Good luck with the job.

Thanks!
It was both a lot of fun and invigorating.
Fun because it was nice to dress and not feel I had to quick change when he came over. And just feel comfortable.
It was invigorating because I never thought I would ever be able to do something like this, let alone in front of some I know. So it felt great that I accomplished it!

We're on the edge of our seats! Dija get the job??? How cool would that be??? Even if you can't dress to work at least it's someone who will have your back, if like in another thread, you accidentally leave a little mascara on.

I was offered the job. Discussed wages, etc.
I am still weighing things out before I accept the position the job wouldn't start until mid April and it will give me time to talk with my current boss and also figure out what is best for me.
Awesome! Glad you had such a great result. Now you should ask him why he mentioned seeing you in a dress. Are you telegraphing to the world or was he especially observant or was it just a random opportune remark? It doesn't matter a lot, but if you're trying to maintain control of your coming out process it might be good to know.

Would the job permit you to dress en femme for work?

Good for you Susan. I hope that your friend continues to be loyal and supportive of you. I'm pleased that you were so calm and strong during the discussion. "Poised" might be the word for your demeanor.

Congratulations on the reveal and the job opportunity. It is so wonderful to share this part of ourselves with others. Many come here to do that online and hope to find the right person to share this with in person. The more we hear about successes, the better we feel our chances are with others around us, so thanks for sharing.

I know I am a damp squid, if the position is well rewarded maybe don't succumb to temptation yet.

Thank you.
As I think about it.
I am so glad this happened. It gives me encouragement to move beyond the confines of my house or car.
Not to mention at all.
There is a huge movement of men wearing women's clothing. Not to pass as a women, just the clothes.
I'm about ready to run with that concept.
