So I'm sitting here with a cute skort on that my wife was going to give to the thrift. While standing in front of the mirror a few minutes ago I lifted the "skirt" part to reveal the shorts underneath. My thought was that if it were Only the shorts I would be accepted anywhere I'd want to go. Dropping the "skirt" over the shorts and the whole game changes. It gets real interesting in that I'm planning on wearing one of my kilts today for inside and outside house chores. The neighbours have mostly all seen the kilt and it will be totally accepted by anyone who wanders by. It's an interesting world we live in.
I'm thinking if I persist in kilt wearing this spring I can slip the skort in and no one will notice. :)
I should point out that I'm always in "male mode" no matter what I'm wearing. No wig or makeup, just the bearded guy in a dress or skirt.

Wear whatever you want whenever you want.
Your neighbors aren't going to care what you wear.

Yeah, since my next door neighbor went to prison I'm not quite as paranoid about being seen fully cross dressed! True story

Since I don't dress in any outer wear at this time it is not a problem. I have gone out with out socks covering my hose and no one has noticed.

This reminds me of a professor I saw who was getting a makeover by one of those TV shows. He had gone from kilts to skirts. They took him back to straight guy mode. What I found interesting at the time was he wore them to work at the University and everyone was ok with it. Well his wife wasn’t fond of the look.

Hi Antron:hugs:, It sounds like you are conditioning your neighbors...:daydreaming:...

My guess is that if they've seen you in kilts they won't give a skort or a skirt a second thought

Conditioning the neighbours actually sounds like what I guess I'm doing. I have gone to the garage (about 20 feet from the front door) in long skirts, sundress with a jacket over the top and long nightgown with robe. I don't think anyone was out but there was always the chance. My wife has said that her preference is naked, kilts or pants, in that order. (In summer I try to stay naked in the house for her). I've been adding long skirts and some simple dresses to that mix and have had no comments either way. I respect that she'd rather I didn't dress (but "do whatever makes you happy") by keeping colours and patterns low key and subdued.
I'm about to have a neighbour who sews shorten a couple dresses for me so that will be interesting. I suspect by the end of summer I'll be way more comfortable wandering around outside.
Thanks for the input.
