I have recently come out of 6+ year hiatus from dressing and the urge to dress and go out in public is stronger than ever. I love reading the stories of going out dressed, dealing with SA's, the challenges you face and the many successful outings you have. That along with encouragement from a friend I've made have brought me to the point where I'm ready and am going for an outing later this week. All I had in the way of clothes (I purged everything when I "quit") weresome awesome satin panties I ordered online from [email protected]. If you loved VS second skin satin panties check these out. I digress, so Saturday morning I underdressed with panties and one of my wife's bras and trekked to Transformations by Rori in Arlington Heights Illinois. I had an awesome time there, tried on a number of wigs, shoes, 2 kinds of forms, and purchased a wig, forms, shoes, and a few pairs of thigh highs. Rori was wonderful to me and invited me to join a group of sisters for a monthly get together. I had a great time. Friday night I emailed the store manager of a Nordstrom's in the area asking what their policy is regarding TG/CD customers shopping there and said I am a polite, respectful CD looking to buy clothes. When I got back in my car from Rori's there was a response inviting me to please shop there and I would be welcomed and treated with respect. She forwarded my email to one of the personal stylists and I received a prompt reply from her saying she would love to help me findustry clothes I would love. She gave me her personal cell number and asked that I give her a call. I called and we had a wonderful 20 minute conversation. She told me she was honored and excited to help me and I would be given VIP treatment!! We have exchanged a couple emails since and I have decided to go dressed and have a makeover at Sephora before I shop there! She encouraged me to get the makeover because it would enhance my shopping experience. She told me she would meet me outside the store and escort me in if I wanted. This lovely woman has made me feel validated, welcomed, and special. I can't wait to meet her in person! I will be calling Sephora in advance to make sure they're fine with me getting a makeover there. I am going to go to a thrift store and purchase jeans or yoga pants plus a top to wear into Sephora and Nordstrom.With it being spring break week I anticipate there being some teens at the mall but I will carry myself with confidence, poise, and self assurance. There may be some comments but I will ignore them, smile, and hold my head high! I am going on a scouting trip before to find the best places to park. I have taken a vacation day, am renting a car as I only have a company car, and my wife will be out of town. Afterwards I may go back to Transformations to do some more shopping en femme. I am so excited about my upcoming day! I will let you know how it went and post some pics. Thanks to each and every one of you that has shared your experiences. Those stories have been instrumental in me getting to this point in my journey!!
