I had to go out of town for a meeting; I was gone 3 days.
I came home after a 5 hour drive, about 10:00 PM.
the next day I was Off, so I sleep in, and about 9:00 AM,
I here what sounded like a critter scratching around in the
walls behind the Bathroom Sink.
I was dressed in Bra, Panties, simple fem top, and a long
jean skirt & house slippers.
Now I am wondering how that critter got in my walls, when
I here foot steps on my roof. Now I am scared, What is going on???
So I run to the front door, only to see a Ladder up against my house,
and 2 men in Hard Hats and clip boards.
I open the door, Dressed as I was, (A man in a dress) and yelled
Why are you on my roof?
O' We are checking out the Sewer and water lines, because we are
going to install new Gas Lines.
I closed the door and then It hit me, I was out side dressed as a
girl, and the two men did not said or show any thought about it.
This is a moment for me to remember, and I thought I would pass it on.

As one person once asked me on Halloween " Are you a guy or just an ugly woman?" Well, at the time, I took it as a complement

Just shows how comfy we are in our own skin and clothing. But the big question is why were they on the roof when sewer and water lines are under ground and so is gas and who gave them permission to be up there? You should have called the police or at least checked with the utility companies to verify they were legit.

It is great that you had and shared that experience! Lisa is right and the utilities and possibly the police should be called! Hugs Lana Mae

I've had to stop myself running to answer the door for the postie more than once. Most guys who work on or in peoples houses for a living have probably seen it all and they either though you were a GG or were just unfazed at seeing you, both good really.

I do remember getting a notice in the mail that the Gas Co. was going to work on the pipes this summer.
This utility co finds out where all the pipes are and tells the gas co where not to dig.
They where on the roof shoving a "Snake" down the vent stack to fine out where the sewer line went
They have a sensor on the tip of it, and can find out where it goes with a locator box the second man holds.
I have seen the in the past in construction. What surprised me is that I went outside dressed. Now I am
prancing around the house wondering if I could meet the UPS guy dressed this way; and you know, WHY NOT.
I will go for it next time. I am getting braver for sure.

You are who you are, whether dressed or not.

I beg to ask the question, Why were they on your roof to check sewer and gas lines? They are underground.

Sorry to take away from your great step forward and your affirming experience, it's just that I was kind of worried about what seemed to me to be a questionable action with men on the roof. And for sure answer your door to the UPS man dressed, who knows before long getting groceries may be on the list.

That was my first thought too.

They could have knocked on the door, and let you know they would be on the roof!

I beg to ask the question, Why were they on your roof to check sewer and gas lines? They are underground.

The gas company should have a record of where its lines are. I suspect they were checking something else. My local municipal utility checks for proper ventilation of the home's sewer system by injecting dyed air into the system and checking to see if it comes off the stack. Also, a gas utility sometimes runs its gas line in the street through the sewer line since the sewer line is not pressurized. It reduces construction cost. Older homes in my area do not have "clean outs" that enable you to unscrew a cap to the sewer line and shove a camera down into the line to do inspections. Newer codes required a "clean out." If you do not have a "clean out" built into the system, then the utility or the homeowner has to "pop off' a toilet to stick a camera down the sewer pipe which can go as far as the head of the camera will go. Or, in your case maybe they just stuck the camera down the stack. If your stack is not operating correctly you're potential having sewer gas or natural gas leaks coming out of it. I suspect you slept through the workers knocking on the door.
