What heel hight do you find to be the best compromise between sexy and wearability? I just bought a pair of 5 inch pumps that have my wife fearing for my safety, but my my they do look nice!

About 3 and 1/2 inches look cute. They are easier to walk in than really high heels.

some 5 inch heels and have yet to fall down or any other serious injuries.

Take a look at what GGs wear - not too many are in 5" pumps! I agree - I think around 3" is about right. Anything higher is starting to get into a more fetish type area (not that there is anything wrong with that!!)

I can walk for miles in 3" heels, and not be noticed too much. Anything higher is uncomfortable, and makes you look like a hooker.

Three inchers feel high enough to go out with, providing they are real sharp. Four I like but...

I generally will go no higher than 4", and I think that 3 1/2 is sufficiently elegant for most occasions. Any higher than that, and I think they start to look like fetish shoes or something that a hooker would wear. That's just not for me. I try to emulate an everyday professional career woman when I dress, as long as that career isn't located on some street corner.

I started with 2" heels. Now I'm comfortable with 3 1/2".
You can also try with a bigger heel base to be more stable,
then try the thin ones like the stilettos.

Of course stilettos will make u look SEXY !

to be about the max for an evening out or any extended wear. Like most of the girls say 3 inch heels are easy to wear0.02

4 inch is very comfortable as far as I'm concerned, but like most of the girls seem to echo, 3 1/2 inch stilleto heels make a great combination of sexy, comfortable, feminine, delicate and most importantly, well-balanced.

Personally I would think 5 is great for photographs and glamour shots, for regular wear or club wear though, would seem like a bit of a stretch.

Well I kicked off my 3" heels about two minutes ago. Been in them since 7.30am and though they aren't screaming in agony, my feet aren't what you'd call comfy. I tend to do a day in heels then flats, to give them a break. Any higher I couldn't do a full day in without sitting down at some point, no way. Mind you, I'm a lab tech, sexy doesn't really enter into it.

i find that I can wear them for several hours. I only wear higher one for special occasions.

I'd say it depends on the shoe size, a 3" heel in a size 9 looks higher than a 3" heel in a size 11. It all depends on the length, the smaller the shoe, the closer the heel, hence the illusion of it being higher.

4" are my choice for sexy looking heels. Any higher, without a platform are too uncomfortable to me, and get into the "Goth/Fetish" look, which I try to avoid.

and it is just me no heel is too high. i can walk in 7+ inch heel ballet boots and shoes but then again i have cultivated this over my life

i know i'm weird but then again i am addicted to high heels:cheeky:

I can do 4 or 4.5 inch all day, without any trouble, but it does depend on the shoe. I find boots much easier to walk in than shoes of the same heel height. I have 6 inch heeled boots, but though I wore them a lot about 10 years ago, I don't get the practice these days.

To pick up on the idea of heel heights and shoe sizes, I think the illusion of height is created by the shape of the 'arch' of the shoe. Even a 3" heel can look magnificent if the shoe has the right shape. (and I know, I've looked at millions by now!!) and a 5 inch heel can seem low if the sole has no curve to it.

I'm already 6' in bare feet, so when out, 2" is about as high as I feel I can go; then again, when I don't care if anyone reads me, the sky's the limit! I love heels (of course) but practicality usually has to rule. :(

3 inches are ideal, I can manage 4, I have one pair of 5's that are an adventure so far.

With a larger foot (11.5 womans) the proportion effect of the heel changes for those with larger feet need a higher heel for the same effect.
So, I wear 4" for walking but a 5" in the bedroom....lol:happy:

Fortunately I've smallish feet and a 9w is real comfortable with my 2" heels. Am trying 3" when I find some nice looking ones cheap.

I guess I'm a platform lover all the way around, because I can wear a 6" heel with no more trouble than a 4" one when I have on something like THIS (http://www.mayashoes.com/241-1.JPEG). A lot of platform sandals look like stripper shoes, but the knotted ankle strap style can go nicely with dressy outfits too.

For me personally, I would say it depends on what I'm doing and where I'm going.

If I think about what I know I can actually walk in, then 5" is the max for me. I have trouble walking elegantly in anything higher. If I'm staying at home having fun playing dress up then again 4" or 5" is what I wear. If however I'm going out in public en femme then I never go over about 2 1/2 inches.

I'll have to agree with the rest of the ladies here.
3-3 1/2" are easy on the tootsies especially in a size 12-13.
Now given that the consideration, a 4" is great for a larger size foot because it is as a 3" is to one three sizes smaller. 5" is nice for photos and the bedroom or just an exhilerating dress up time, but please girl, the emergency room gets enough sprained ankles, weird stories and what not. So they don't need any of us explaining how we were hailing a cab and broke a 5" heel off in a storm grate, sprained our ankle, ripped my good hose, and lost my best lipstick when my purse hit the pavemen...... Oh NEVERMIND!

I wear high heels an awful lot:) Probably more than most gg's, but I started in them as a child.

I am 5'6" barefoot and usually wear 5" to 6" heels but I also admit that isn't for everyone. I try for an elegant look since I do prefer higher heels and some associate them with a trashy image.

Anything taller than a 4" heel and my feet are killing me by the end of the night. I've also found that "normal" shoes tend to be easier on the feet for a long night out that the shoes that are targeted more at the fetish market.

I love heels. The hight of my heels depends on my mood. If I have a short skirt on i wear high heels(5") or (4") But i beleave the height of your heels depends on the mood your in at the time your getting made up. I love buying shoes. I can see why women buy so many shoes. Except, I do not understand why they buy flats. I always dress in heels. love

OK, it's boring of me but I tend to stay lower. Usually 2 1/2"; occasionaly 3". Of course I'm 6'3", so if I go much higher I start bumping into doorframes ;) I know the proportion is enhanced with higher heels, but I seem to get by ok. And, of course, tall GG's tend to shy away from really high heels.

You know I love heels as I posted the 6" heel thread. Yes, if I had to walkmuch in them or stand in them for a long time, 6" heels would be too much. 4" are great for dancing. 5" are great for a little walking and for show.
How can you get more feminine than heels? Many GG's are typically way too casual, almost slobbish these days. My wife's not. She's very sexy. She used to be a model and she dressed very feminine. allison

I love platforms.:) I recently got some 5 inch Pleasers off ebay, and I don't think I will ever go back to anything shorter than 3 inch. They are very pleasing!:) I tried some from Zappos, but one hurt my foot, so I sent them back. Zappos was excellant to deal with. But, I never go out and I have no problem with walking in them. I love to walk around with nothing on except my heels. It is very relaxing and fun.:o

Rachel Rachel yowza those are nice. There's only one reason I'd wear them, if I "had" to, I wouldn't be doing much walking though. :censor: ;)

Most of mine for common sense walking or wearing are about 4"

I find 2" is fine and stilettos make me feel like I'm running downhill all the time. I've tried and tried and tried but cannot get comfortable and've had to give pairs away since I couldn't adapt.
2" to 3 " for me.

I have a pair of boots that I love but they have stilettos of about 41/2 inches. Tends to throw all of my weight on the balls of my feet. Love the boots but seldom wear them unless I know I'll be sitting down a lot. 3" are ok. I tend to stay away from real tall heels as I'm already 6'2.

Hi,

I always found this a problem: If you're tall your feet are probably bigger than shorter girls, but higher heels disguise the length of your feet. I usually go for 4" or 5" and they are a good compomise.

I agree Angela. I never wear heels higher than 3" and I do love ballerina flats too.

I tried a pair of 5" stilettos but felt it very uncomfortable to walk in them.

Three inch is as tall I will go, although I was looking at a pair of 5 inch on Amazon, under the Seduction label, and was almost seduced into buying them. A few days ago, bought a pair of two inch which are a pretty praactical compromise. Going to try to locate a Life Stride sling back pump in aqua or lime green this week.

I still remember the first time I wore high heels (5 inch). I wondered how women did it since I could barely stand in them but it didn't take long for 5 inch heels feel perfectly natural and comfortable.

I think a lot of it has to do with the angle from the heel to the sole. I have two pairs of 6 1/2 inch heels (no platform). I can walk fairly easily in one pair but can't manage more than a few steps in the other pair. The difference is the angle is steeper on the ones I can't walk in. A good example of this is how easy it is to walk in my 6 inch heels with a 2 inch platform. These only tilt the foot at an angle equal to a 4 inch single sole shoe. I just wish I could master those red 7 inch heel pumps because they look SO hot...

Sierracd6 is right the sound of 5" heels is as sexy as they look. I find that wearing a 5" heel improves my posture so I carry myself more like a woman both while walking or standing. My wife says it adds swivel to my hips when walking. Right now we both are trying to master stairs in 5" heels. hahaha...

Interesting thread. I have a thing for very high heels. My lowest is 4", they're very comfortable and I can walk in those all day. I now have two pairs of 5" heels and they are my favs. I have no problems walking in these. My 6 inchers (actually 6.5") aren't as easy to walk in. They don't seem to fit me that well so I'm looking for a better fitting pair. So to quote Aubrey, "Never high enough,to the moon!"

You're right that tall heels will get more looks, but tall stilettos are coming back into fashion. My 25 year old neice wore black stilettos to a funeral the other day and I would guess they were at least 4.5". They looked great. She's a hottie, so I'm sure she doesn't mind being looked at.

Up until the fall I had only worn 3 1/2 inch heels and they looked and felt great. Then I bought a pair of 5 inch black patent heels, and boy do they ever look sexy. Unfortunately they are not practical to wear anywhere even as part of a costume, because my calf muscles cramp up everytime I walk in them for more than 10 minutes. Plus they are about 1 size to big, so I'm thinking about selling them and sticking to a max of 3 1/2.

My shoes range from flats to about 3", and most of them are 2" to 3" heels. I usually wear some kind of heel because I'm so short. I've never tried to wear more than a 3" heel, but I figure you can adjust to it if the need arose. I try to avoid flats because I wear a size 9 shoe and flats make my feet look bigger than they already are!

I haven't bought shoes - or boots - yet, but intend to in the not too distant future and have a 3" heel in mind. Now bear with me if this is a dumb question, but can anyone tell me if there is a corelation between men's and women's sizes, and if so, what is it? (I am a US 11)
