Has anyone participated in a womanless beauty pageant or crossdressing contest? What what was the experience like? Did you get ready yourself or did someone help you?

Nikki,
I have not participated but I have always wondered where a person can go to find out where & when these Womanless Beauty Pageants happen.

Hugs, Connie Marie

No idea but it sounds like fun! I know some college campuses hold them for their students! Hugs Lana Mae

I've googled it and they arise from time to time...as like fund raisers for charity for example

I know in Raleigh(NC) they have a race where men and women wear high heels for charity! Not sure exactly where or when now! Hugs Lana Mae (if interested google and contact WRAL!)

Those womanless beauty contests seem to be more of a southern thing. I wish they held them up by me!!

Being in a pageant implies competition and I'm not interested in that. More interested in being myself and just having fun. If you are into that sort of thing though, I say go for it. :battingeyelashes::)

I'd love to give one a try and show them all how it is done. Ironically they appear to be very popular in the Bible belt and are even held at many Baptist churches?

Here is a great article about the phenomenon

I've always loved the idea of going to one of these. Of course I'd go all out and in my "fantasy" I win..... Yeah, Right!

In reality you have to ask yourself how realistic do you want to go. If you go all out to win, and you're in the closet, people are going to wonder just how you got to be so good at this. They're not going to believe you threw this together in a short period of time. Also, things like Dresstech Hip Pads along with breast forms and corsets cost real money but make a HUGE difference in the presentation. I would think people would realize that somebody wouldn't go to that expense for just a one time gig.

Count me in for that. Sounds like fun, so long as they have a '50 and over' section!

A high heel race just sounds like an old girl like me just might get an ankle broke. My problem is I'm too competitive to be smart about it. I get myself in all sorts of messes with the grandkids still thinking I'm 21.

I took 3rd place in our local fire Department fundraiser . there were 10 contestants and most dressed up very nice. first place was won by a guy dressed as Dolly Parton lip syncing to PMS Blues. second place was won by a police officer doing his impersonation of momma May with a flower dress and combat boots. I wore a long silver sequin dress. and for the talent part lip-synced to Barbie girl and a Britney Spears inspired mini skirt and white top and go go boots. it was a lot of fun and I'm in the south. this was about 10 years ago.

Back in high school, a long long time ago, the football team dressed as girls and put on a pageant to raise money...now back then I was an offensive lineman and had scholarships to play college ball, I was 297 lbs, could squat 865lbs and had a 24" neck. I was in heaven letting my girlfriend take me out dress shoping and bra's although I could not let anybody know my fantasy was right in front of everyone..needless to say I did not make a pretty girl although I did not care...I remember when I came out on stage the MC said thats not calves on that girl thats full grown cows;) ...but I would do it again for an excuse to be dolled up in public!

Yes, the guys dressing as women is something we hear about often here in the South. Most of the ones I know about are held by Churches, for fund raisers. The way they have a pageant is a need for money and the pageant is one of many events of the day, along with yard sale, food vendors and silent auctions.
If your Church has fund raisers you might suggest a pageant. My understanding is some guys go all out while others just slip a dress over their male attire. Sort of make up your own rules kind of event.

I have done two of them and at the time I was in my 60. one time I wore a poodle skirt outfit with the saddle oxfords, but I really liked the time I wore a dress that said bride's mother or senior bride.

This was taken in 2008. I have gotten rid of that wig and the dress is in storage now.

Is there a "least passable" category, because I would OWN it.

I've always loved womanless beauty pageants. But I don't know if I could ever compete in one. I'd be too scared of losing.

The only time Allison has really been out in public was at a WBR for Race for the Cure in 2009. It turned out they decided the winner based on how much money was raised, not by talent or beauty. My wife helped me dress... we had to make it a little but outlandish so no one would think Allison was real. It was a total joke, if it had been jusged strictly on comedy, I would have won.

Sounds great in theory, with unlimited possibilities and probably representing a crossdresser's wet dream. The reality is usually somewhat different, though.

I've never participated in one of these pageants nor ever seen a live version, but virtually all of the youtube videos that I have viewed that captured these events were pretty lame. The odd (no pun intended - LOL!)) guy with the help of his posse will put considerable effort into his presentation, and the younger, more slightly built teenaged boys can look particularly convincing as wannabee girls in these situations. But these are the exceptions, not the rule.

Trouble is, most of these guys will play it strictly for laughs and end up looking like bikers or linebackers in drag (think Mrs. Doubtfire or Milton Berle in a dress and wobbling on heels), and purposely so (God forbid that they might be taken for...Gasp!!!...GAY!).

All in all, these types of contests are a huge turn-off for me as all they do is reinforce the negative stereotypes that our community is already burdened with.
