Now that didn't rhyme!

Whilst out today (50/50) a friend commented on my lime green cuffs and waist band, over a grey and brown stripe. sounds Ghastly in print!
Which had us talking about eveningwear colour choices available (suitable for functions), mainly black & Blue, and for a night time function!

So, I dress in Colour, and a lot of it, and I dress during the day!

My friend however dresses in black predominantly and is dressed at night!

I Do appreciate that we shouldn't be categorised or polled on these things!

But I'm me,
Colour at night, black during the day, grey whilst asleep or just colour during the day!

What are your thoughts on it?
Colour my life Stacy!

I have a lot of color in my closet, as well as black and white. I try to dress for the activity I'm planning and then pick the outfit that seems right. Black and white can work in the daytime and color can be great at night, particularly if you want to stand out just a little. Since I'm already breaking rules by wearing clothing designed for women, why not accept that as freedom to experiment just a little from time to time?

It depends on my mood, but usually I wear color. Tonight I'm wearing black and white polka dots. More of a daytime look, but then I'm TG and rules don't apply to me. I definitely don't dress to blend. Anyway tonight is karaoke at the bar, aways a fun time.

Hi Stacy,

In drab I have never been very adventurous. Partly because there aren't a lot of options and partly because I'm the kind of person who needs Garanimals for adults

My femme wardrobe however is much more colorful and a lot more fun! As for day vs. night - I don't have any set rules.

I wear whatever when ever! In male mode I used to dress in bright colors-orange or yellow shirts, white and gold Nehru shirt(I am dating myself!), bright blue ruffled shirt to go with my suit, and socks to match!! I am no stranger to colors but also wear black and white! Usually lighter colors at night to be seen! Just my $.02! Hugs Lana Mae

It also depends on where you live, big city or small, north or south, warmer or colder, local cultures and styles. Here in the San Francisco area where out in the suburbs away from the cooler ocean affect, the ladies are very much into darker colors at night and muted or pastel colors during the day. It seems like black is the new black here sometimes. While in the Houston, Texas area they love their bright colors and patterns? I personally like "all colors of the rainbow" (thanks Harry Chapin). I do wear blacks and some grays and browns, but also like my patterns and other colors too. During the winter months I tend to dress a little less colorful than the warmer months.

So, regarding recommendations to others, mine would be dress as you want to the comfort level of being more noticeable (sticking out) to others when out to the venues that you go to. That means one has to be comfortable with who they are and confident enough to live and present that way when they want. I am. More than once I have been the only person in a very light colorful outfit on a full dance floor of people dressed in black or dark colors in a dark gay bar inhabited by gays and straights after midnight.

Well it depends on the occasion, but I like colorful bold prints and flowers like in my profile picture and tend to dress that way.

Of course if it is a formal occasion then it's an LBD.

I tend to like black and grays and violets--I also like floral patterns and (certain) stripes and polka dots...but I cant, either in drab or en femme, do bright colors. I didnt like them in the 80s and I still dont!

Stacy,
The choice is mostly dictated by the event you will be attending . If you stick to black, grey or any other subdued colour you can dress it up or down with coloured accessories . I found it's not so much the colour you wear that attracts the attention but more if it's overstated for the occasion . On the whole CDers do tend to go a little OTT.
My next social group meeting is just drinks and chat round the table, my outfit will be a cream patterned skirt with a cream blouse, beige heels and cream jacket. I know now it's going to be slightly too much as I stood out last time when just wearing a black spotted skirt and white blouse with my favourite Next grey jacket, OK I was probably the only one in the bar area wearing 3.5 " black heels .

Last time out in daylight I wore the leather skirt in my avatar with a cowl neck short sleeved top, and heeled wedges .

I like colors - as Ellen and drab. I have over 100 ties as the way to add some spark (and hot socks).
While black or white outfits are classic (and black and white), colors come in and out of style. Cobalt blue is popular now. I have done matching - yellow dress and yellow pumps just recently, but also a bold outfit with blue top, hot pink leggings, and yellow pumps. I could not get away with that in drab.
Hugs, Ellen

I like black short skirts and I love color in my tops. Mot of the tops a solid color such as red, purple or white.

After clearing Elizabeth's Garanimals from my wardrobe, it may seem that most of us do like a splash of colour or even a floral pattern!

I do know that I painfully push colour for us, But hey! Colour makes us happy!

After realizing that I was predominately dressed in black, I went for more florals and colors. No set rules, but if it's classy a LBD. Daytime more colorful.

I tell ya Stacy, I really love the fall and winter girl's selection in clothing as opposed to spring and summer! I just love the feel of tights and boots and booties with skater skirts and snug fitting wool or knit tops with a bit of elastine or spandex in them.

Yep, at night, I'm with you as far as wearing darker clothes. I'm a huge fan of short black skirts and black tops of any type. If I were ever to go out during the day, which I probably won't ever do because of the ultra conservative part of America where I live, I would definitely go with brighter colors. The neighbors would absolutely write me off their Christmas lists though! This ain't Vegas or San Francisco for sure!

Sincerely Scarlett :2c:

My closet is very limited but right now it's mostly just black and white items. I have some outfits and shoes with color but I haven't pulled the trigger on ordering yet.
