View Full Version : Something Lighter - Who was your cartoon role model

Lynn Sealy

For many of us growing up, one of the first female role models was a cartoon character. Who was yours? One of mine was Natasha Fatale.

I curse I really didn't have one although I'm certainly of the generation to appreciate Natasha. If I had to pick one today then you can't go wrong with Jessica Rabbit!

I have never had a cartoon role model but have enjoyed several comic straps and animations over the years. This includes, but is not limited to, Bloom County, Opus, The Far Side, and television's Homer Simpson as well as Pinky and the Brain.

Got to be Bugs Bunny. He always seemed to have an endless supply of female outfits handy!

Lana Mae

There could be so many! Betty Boop, Wilma Flintstone, Betty Rubble, Jane Jetson, the list goes on but like Diane it would be Bugs Bunny! LOL Hugs Lana Mae

Wilma Flintstone and Betty Rubble. Loved the hair and hourglass figures on both those gals, and oddly enough, I still have a thing for animal prints...go figure! ;)

I vote for Jessica Rabbit for a movie character and Daphne Blake from Scooby-Doo from TV. One glamorous and another more girl next door but stylish.

Awesome thread topic!

Gawd, there are sooo many great gals. How to pick one??

As someone already mentioned, I, too, kinda had a thing for Jane Jetson. :o

But, yeah... See my avatar. :heehee:

Tina Davis

Daphne would be my first choice, she had the short dress, hose, and heels I wanted to wear, even if they were all purple! Then Betty Boop or Jessica Rabbit or (really obscure) Red Hot Riding Hood.

How about Rudolph the Reindeer? (Or Claris?)

Why am I such a misfit
I am not just a nitwit

Of course the female centaurs from fantasia struck a cord with me at about 5 years old. For real! And who wouldn't want to be Kim Possible!

Definitely Jessica Rabbit. She was the epitome of femininity and sexiness. Especially the scene where's all tied up, that's what started my fascination with dressing as a woman and damsels in distress.

some good mentions here. Bugs always passed, at least at first.

For me, Daphne; Tina is so right about the outfit. And those long legs. One of my best and cheapest-laziest Halloween costumes ever was Fred. I should have gone as Daphne.

Jem! What a classic 80's cartoon!

Kayliedaskope
08-22-2017, 06:24 PM
OMG, so many choices!

First pick: Jessica Rabbit

Jem, Stormer, Kimber ... pretty much all of the female members of the show except Pizazz. (Her makeup was way over the top.) Bonus: I have the complete boxed DVD set!

Bugs Bunny, of course! Who wouldn't be inspired??

Trixie from Speed Racer - cute outfits!

Daphne from Scooby Doo - attraction to redheads ...

Holli Would (if she could) from Cool World

Rogue, Storm, Jean Grey from the X-Men

Wonder Womam from the Justice League

Black Widow

Elektra

All of the Disney princesses!!

I better stop here for now, or I'll be typing all day ...

I've dressed as Natasha for a Halloween party (I think I ended up looking more like Betty Page)and with my wife as Boris...our size difference made the choice a no brainer on who wore the dress....me being 6'4" and she being 5'2" to fit the comic theme of the party.
As a fan of redheads, Jessica Rabbit is someone I'd like to emulate...I think I have the legs, boobs, and dress...just need the right wig and occasion to do it

I'm with Shayna, but adding Veronica to Betty and Trixie. For a male, Bugs did have a great stash of women's clothes and he pulled them off well. I never could find that big hat he wore in the theater!

Betty and Veronica, from Archie comics, Supergirl and Bugs Bunny for his unashamed and enthusiastic crossdressing.

And just about every female (or very passable CD) cartoon in Playboy magazine. They set the bar way too high, but I wasn't thinking about how it could be done, only that it was a goal.

Bugs Bunny, specifically when he played Brunhilde in "Whats Opera Doc?"

My favorite scene Elmer sings "Oh Brunhilde your so gorgeous".

Brunhilde sings "Yes, I know it, I can't help it..."

Wow that brings back such memories. After watching the What's Opera Doc, episode my brother and I acted it and sang I remember picking him and and carrying him in my arms then throwing him on the couch.

I was mostly a Looney Tunes fan, but I also liked Themla from Scooby Do because I was always attracted to intelligence.

IleneD
09-02-2017, 09:23 PM
I'm thinking Superman; actually any number of comic book superheroes.
The Wife and I were talking (again) the last few days about "it".... you know, the CD Thing. The WHY is always a conversation thread. She was asking what the big deal was about going out dressed up. I related several of my stories, the Adventures of Ilene. Going shopping. Flying on an airplane. Restaurants, etc. After hearing several stories and how I told her it went, and how stoked I was about moving around incognito in public, the Wife said, "You sound like you have a secret identity like a superhero. Your secret identity is Ilene."
I never gave that them much thought, but it makes sense. I devoured comic books as a kid. Now the times were, in a sense, the golden age of comics. But yes, it makes sense. The love of tights and garments that fit like hosiery. Always loved tights and leggings even as a kid. I remember the cheap thrill I had when I went out for the HS wrestling team and they let me wear leggings. A gateway garment, I believe.
But the "Secret Identity" aspect of CD makes sense.

Bugs Bunny.
Probably one of the best single characters EVER to wear a dress. Who doesn't absolutely adore (and giggle with) Bugs Bunny in drag. Warner Bros, so clever with that.

In guy mode (and watching with my son) my favorite cartoon is Tom and Jerry. When all dolled up, I aspire to be Jessica Rabbit (my favorite wig is similar to her style).

But my true role model is Bugs!! First, cuz he looks fabulous in a dress and always has impeccable makeup. More importantly, he crossdresses without drama ... thinks nothing of putting on the dress and when done he goes back to his regular life completely un-phased. We should all be so lucky to have such confidence.
