Going to have some girly fun with my 21 year old daughter at the end of this week. Two days for me to be entirely en-femme, all day long, and while on the road. My daughter and I, along with our dog, are going to the beach for part of the weekend. About a 2 hour drive to one town on the Oregon coast, then lunch in that town, then a leisurely drive up the coast to another town, where we have a hotel reservation. Check into the hotel, get dinner at a nice restaurant, then enjoy an indoor heated pool and spa at the hotel. Next day, breakfast at the hotel, check out, and attend a kite festival all day, on the beach. Finally, drive partway back, make a dinner stop, then head home, drop off the dog and my daughter, and head downtown for a music show and dance that a lot of my lady friends should be at!

The only tricky part will be that this is the first time that I'll be checking into a hotel while en-femme! My real given name is unisex, so the only issue might be if they want to see my driver's license when I check in. And if they question the male picture and gender marker, well, I'll just state that I'm transgender, and that I'll be changing the gender marker early next year, when I can do the birth certificate at the same time. Which is my tentative plan right now.

I'll post more here as the weekend progresses, but I think we'll have a lot of fun!

That sounds like a wonderful vacation. I'm very glad for your relationship with your daughter. She sounds like a gem.
I don't think you should worry about having your presentation questioned at the hotel. Your money is as good as anyone else's. But if you think there will be difficulties with using the word "transgender" you might consider "gender fluid". I think it's a term that has accumulated less baggage in recent months and people might find it a bit less threatening.

Ceera, sounds like a great time with your daughter. Don't worry on the hotel check in. I have done that before and no questions asked.

Hope you have a good time on your vacation. You deserve it. Looking forward to hearing how easy checking into the hotel was.

Hmmmmm...driving as you. Driving the Oregon coast. Driving with an accepting daughter for girl trip. That life can be so sweet!

I’m sure it will be very liberating. Take lots of pictures!

Maybe I just don't patronize the right class of hotels, but I've never been asked for my driver's license or other ID when checking in. They want my credit card, of course, to pay for the room, but that doesn't have my picture or any gender markers on it. And as long as they get some kind of scrawl that looks vaguely like the name on the card, they don't seem to care about how I sign for it, either.

I've checked in en femme quite a few times and there is either no reaction at all, or just a couple of times, it has initiated a nice conversation with the desk clerk about clothes and places to go in town. All good.

So far, so good. Was worried last night that I might have to cancel, because I had a slight fever. But was okay this morning. Had a pleasant drive to Newport, and stopped there for lunch. Then we drove up the coast to Lincoln City, where we will stay one night before attending a kite festival tomorrow. Traveled en-femme, wearing a short denim skirt and a women’s t-shirt that says “Sassy Lassie” on it, with a Scottish thistle decoration.

Had time to kill while waiting for check-in time, so we took the dog for a walk on the beach, then shopped a little. Everyone we met was fine with us, and no one seemed to question my gender being female.

Hotel had a sign in the window explicitly welcoming “all sexual orientations / all genders”, as well as other categories, and saying “you are safe here”. At check-in, I did have to show my driver’s license as well as the credit card, and after that the guy at the front desk consistently misgendered me as male, though he was unfalteringly polite and friendly. I have not yet tried to correct him on which pronouns I use. To be fair, I am pretty sure that if I explain it to him, he will use the female pronouns after that.

The only actual problem so far is that we can’t leave the dog unattended in the room when we leave the hotel, so when we go to dinner tonight, he will have to go with us and stay in his crate in our car.

Pictures from the trip:

1: Ceera driving Pretty - Did the 2.5 hour drive to the coast en-femme. Stayed en-femme for 48 hours!

2: Ceera smiling at the beach - When we got to the beach, we took the dog for a walk, about a mile along the coast and back. Talked to lots of people.

3: Enjoying the hotel pool - There had been a family of four pre-teen boys and their mom using the pool when my daughter and I arrived at the pool. Had no problems with any of them. Sent my daughter back for our phones to take pictures before we left.

4: Ceera and her dog at the kite festival - For a while, I was flying my kite and handling that big dog at the same time.

5: Picture of kites at the kite festival - This only shows about half the kites that were in the air at about noon on Saturday.

I travel a lot and in my male clothing and I am always asked for I.D.along with my credit card. It is just standard procedure to make sure the card does have the same name as you do. It is literally a 10 second thing.

Sounds D's like a great weekend. I don't think that you'll have a problem. Check the card with your DL and you should be good to go.

Wow, what a cool trip. I know its just pictures but I can't imagine that many people questioning your gender from what I see. Congrats!

Over the course of the two days I must have interacted with at least 100 people. Lots of people wanted to talk to me about our dog, and I was my usual gregarious self, chattering happily at anyone, as the situation merited it. I was only mis-gendered twice. No one else seemed to question my female appearance - even when I talked with them at length.

The first was, as I stated before, the front desk guy at the hotel, who had just seen my male ID. He didn't hassle me, or even treat me oddly at all. He just automatically addressed me by the gender and name on my driver's license, until I corrected him, while ignoring the fact that I had a feminine voice, boobs, long hair, and was wearing a skirt and other female clothes.

The second was a little girl, about six or seven years old. She and her mom approached our car as we were packing up to leave the kite festival, while it was beginning to rain. The child wanted to see our doggie. I left the dog in his car crate, but I allowed her to get a closer look and I told her about what kind of dog he was, and how old he was - as I had done dozens of times that day with others who admired the big dog. Well, I was kind of tired and in a rush, so I was less careful than normal with my feminine voice. The girl cocked her head to one side, curiously, and commented, "You sound kinda like a boy." I paused a moment, because I didn't want to get into that with such a young kid, especially in front of their parent. Then I just said quietly, "Yeah, sometimes I do." Her mom hustled her off, looking mortally embarrassed that her girl has said something that might seem rude.

In retrospect, if something like that happens again, I'll just say, "Well, I'm a very big girl, and sometimes us bigger girls have deeper voices."
