My therapist mentioned this week that some tg's with benefit from a low dose estrogen therapy. She said that patients feel better and feel more feminine on low dose hormones. Has anyone tried this? What are the side effects?

This is a specific posting request (https://www.crossdressers.com/forums/faq.php?faq=specific#faq_spec_post_poll) Please do not respond if you have not taken estrogen as a calming measure.

Thst’s me, my dosage is at the low end. It helps A LOT!!! You are likely to experience some physical changes but you won’t grow horns and become a green monster to your colleagues!

When prescribing estrogen, I found it most useful to start with a set dosage and then move up or down depending on the results. It was not uncommon to begin with the lowest dose available and increase as needed. For menopausal symptoms, the most common starting dose was in the mid range depending on severity of the menopausal symptoms. Side effects are usually less than with a higher dose and were more related to breast tenderness which actually was not common. There is something to be said for the placebo effect that can happen when taking any medication. Note that these are generalities and an individual's experience may vary. Any contraindication to estrogen will apply regardless of the dosage.
