I feel as though sometimes people in my neighborhood sometimes look through my windows. The windows have two curtains but not very good ones. Due to gossip and me not washing off my lipstick very well many times I have been stereotyped. It's not blatant. Is it not illegal for people to be peeping Tom's?

If they are taking unusual measures (e.g. tresspassing on your property) to look in your windows, then yes. If you’re prancing around in front of a window that faces the street (or your neighbor’s windows/yards) and has flimsy curtains, then no, they’re not doing anything illegal. Get youself some blinds or blackout curtains.

I am sure that it is illegal to spy on people as you describe, the paparazzi seem to be immune so maybe you need a motor scooter licence.
The other thing is use good curtains and blinds that cover past the window line.
Just use commonsense and take precautions like washing that makeup off properly.

Sure it's illegal but you have to catch them in the act. We have recently had a rash of peeping around the local university housing. Cops have been trying for months to catch the guy.

Only the local police department will be able to tell you exactly.
If you have a lawyer they might be able to tell you.
A lot will be dependent on location and where they are viewing from and how often.

Can't really go too much into detail but here's the basics:
if they can see you from a place they are legally allowed to be at, it isn't illegal for them to look into your window (mostly), and if you are in a place where you would expect to have privacy (mostly).
In your case, it seems like you know that the windows don't provide the best privacy, so sounds like until you improve those window blinds/curtains, you're out of luck on the legal front.

Two suggestions to help you worry less about legal issues:
- get better at removing lipstick (many threads on the Beauty forum).
- get better curtains, or hang a towel temporarily when you are dressing.

Thin curtains with bright lights gave my neighbors interesting shows from their house. They were nice about it, but there was no longer a secret about what I enjoyed.

This really isn't rocket science. If you don't want someone to see you, take simple precautions! Flimsy curtains? That's just inviting busybodies to view your house, and yourself. Same with the lipstick. If you're not careful removing feminine stuff, then you're basically wanting people to know you're a crossdresser. After all, curtains, blinds, shades are pretty much commonly used, it's not like it's difficult to find this stuff. That said, if I caught someone looking in my windows, I'd really give them something to look at! Can't be called a flasher if they're there for the show!
Are you sure you're not just being paranoid? Saying you "feel as though" doesn't really mean they are actually doing it.
Like Micki said, unless they're on your property blatantly perving on you there is nothing you can really do besides fix the problem yourself.

Whether it's illegal or not makes very little difference in practice as the burden of proof is on you. If you want a secret kept, don't tell anyone and don't show anyone. period

As others have said, it is illegal to trespass on your property and look into your window, it is not illegal if they can see you from the street and do not come onto your property. Like others have said, get better drapes, and wash off the lipstick better before going out. Good luck, Brenda

I would think you would already know how to solve this "problem". If not, it's been said already but: Clean your lipstick and block their view with blinds, curtains or drapes.

Property laws come into play on this one about peeping. I would believe the burden of proof they were peeping lies with what you do to prevent it. If they can see thru your curtains from the street then you don't have a leg to stand on about them peeping. On your property looking in then yes you have a case.
Lipstick remover is on you and you alone, as Nicole stated look at how to remove makeup in the forum. By leaving those stains on your lips and not buying better no see thru curtains it reads almost like you want to be caught.

Of course it is illegal for anyone to trespass on your property. The question that arise is whether the person is trespassing. If the person is going to walk up to the front door and knock/ring bell, I would not think that is trespassing unless the person has been previously warned to stay off your property. If I had windows coverings that are sheer anyone coming up the walkway or just standing in the street can see me. We use sheers during the day for some degree of privacy and to let the natural light into the house. At night we draw the heavy drapes to give us total privacy. When I have a day to myself and I am en femme I always have the heavy drapes drawn. Yes, delivery person, neighbors and solicitors do knock on the door. I just do not open it. If anyone asks why I did not answer, well, I was taking a shower,
If you suspect someone is trespassing with the intent of looking in your window that is not normally accessible from the street or walkway, then try to confirm it. Maybe you're just paranoid to some extent. One of the suggestions from our local police is to have soft soil around windows so a peeping Tom will leave a shoe imprint in the soil. Then, if you have confirmation of serious trespassing incidents you can take further steps such as installing motion detectors and cameras to catch the person or just scare them off.
As to the lip stick and makeup removal issues you just need to clean up better. And, don't use lipstick advertised as long lasting.

There's an old saying I once heard .. If you're gonna fool around, then you better pull the shade.

It is illegal if they are coming onto your property and coming up to your window and looking in. If they are standing on the sidewalk in front of your house and looking in your windows there is nothing you can do about it except getting better curtains. At my old residence in the country, years ago I had a neighbor that would stand in her upstairs window naked showing her assets in the morning. Anyone driving by could see her getting dressed as I did on several occasions driving to work. All she had to do was shut the curtains.

R u sure you're not a troll, Woman? Your post sounds totally made up to me! :Angry3:
R u going to sue one of your neighbors? For what? Looking out their window and into yours? In court u have to prove damages. What r yours?
And, if you're so worried about folks finding u out, why r dressing in front of windows? Don't u have a bedroom or bathroom? Ridiculous post in my opinion!
