I recently went to Kansas City for a work convention. I go out often, mostly in San Francisco or New York. I was unsure. Reason #1, avoiding colleagues. Reason #2, I have never been out in a city that is not near a coast. Reason #3, I did not know where to go. I brought my stuff. After my last meeting I decided to go for it. I looked at Yelp and saw they had a highly rated gay bar with drag shows, Missie B's. I do not usually go to gay bars, but when in doubt, questions of acceptance, etc... a gay bar is usually a good choice. I found out that the closer colleagues were in a completely different hotel. I got dressed: short black skirt, camisole top, little sweater, and suede ankle boots. I took the stairs instead of the elevator. I took a Lyft to the bar. The bar was fairly slow. I had a good time. I met a guy who was at the same conversation and we talked for a while about life and career in general. I watched some karaoke. The only weird thing, I met the typical drunk young woman. She thought my boobs needed adjusted. She actually reached into my top, underneath my gel bra; crazy. Other than that, a great time.

I am glad you decided to go out, it sounds like you had a good time. I can say I have never had a woman try to adjust my "boobs" for me:o Other than that it sounds like you had a great time. Take care, Brenda

Gay bars and clubs are a great place to go out. Normally this is a very safe place for us. Gays and not interested in a CD, TV or TS, I've experienced this over time.
If you go to a GLBT place thinks might be quite different. In those places, especially if the places are known for crossdressers and drag queens (and TS), you will definitely run into admirers. In that case you have to deal with your response and how you act. Those guys can be really exhausting.
