Has anyone had laser hair removal? How did it go?

I had IPL. It hurt. It did a great job on most of my face at removing the dark hair, but the lighter hair is still there. It didn't help at all on my top lip, and I'm now having electrolysis to remove that.
It hurt btw.
That is to say, they say it's like being flicked with a rubber band.
Well, if the rubber band was the size of a car tire and hurled, on fire, at my face by a champion hammer thrower, then yes, it was like being hit with a rubber band.
Take care :)

I've had 3 sessions on my "posterior" and it has reduced the amount and thickness of the hair there. I think after my 5 sessions, I will still have significant hair there, but it will be blond, small, and slow growing. I have naturally very dark brown hair. It is painful - the rubber bands snapping is a good example of what it feels like. It gets less painful when there is less dark hair to zap though.

I just started my laser treatments last month and I am seeing a great improvment in how my face looks now, to what it used to look like before I started my treatments. I can tell you just like all of my other sisters that have laser treatment to remove their beards, yes it does hurt(like a bee sting) but I was lucky enough to get a prescription for some cream that numbs the skin, so that it does not hurt as much.
Hope this helps

I've been doing laser every 10 weeks for two years on my chest, shoulders, abs, and back. (yeah, it was expensive!). Nearly all my brown hair is gone, and I'm thinking about switching to the laser that works on gray hair for the remaining year of my contract.
I don't think it is very painful, and well worth it!

I have thought about it and checked on pricing, and your right its very expensive. Not encouraged by your talks on the pain or the final results. If it works that would be great. I get a little tired about all the shaving, but it is well worthit. Even my SO likes the smooth feel. Kris

I heard that they can't legally call it 'Laser Hair Removal' - it has to be 'Laser Hair Reduction' since the part of the hair that you're trying to destroy is about 7mm under the skin, whereas a laser or IPL can only penetrate up to 3mm. I can't rmember how old that article was though. Anyone have any more information on this? I don't really want to spend lots of money on laser treatment if it's not going to be as good as electrolysis...

I have used waxing, electrolysis and laser removal and they all worked to varying degrees. I am now almost a perfect "smoothie" and love it. Sure it's expensive and hurts a little but the results are what counts. Remember..."No pain No gain"!! Go for it because "you're worth it"!!

Over the past 2 years I have had 10 laser treatments on my face and chest. The black hairs are 100% removed but I still have to shave to remove the grey hairs (a new laser to remove white/grey hairs will be available later this year). What I have found is that your passability improves since your five o'clock shadow no longer is a problem. I now use less foundation and can complete my makeup in 5 minutes. It is painful and can be expensive but not as painful and expensive as electrolysis.

They can call it 'removal' but not 'permanent removal'. They can call it 'permanent reduction' though. This is because there is no definite proof that it permanently removes hair, and though it's fantastic on some people, others have very poor results. It ISN'T as good as electrolysis, but it IS quicker, on the dark hair, if it works.
Sound worth it? LOL, only you can decide whether to essentially gamble.
Take care :)
