I found it 10 years ago while investigating various CD dating sites. After dressing in a complete vacuum in private for the previous 10 years!

How about u?

I just did a search for "crossdressing" and this is one of the first sites that came up. It was that simple.

After many years of hiding my crossdressing and being ashamed, I finally decided to confront this as a normal part of my life. I was searching the internet for crossdressing shopping sites, when I saw a comment somewhere about crossdressers.com. I checked it out and knew immediately that this was for me. The rest is history, as they say.

5 years ago. I had tried another site and saw mention of this site and liked it much better - much cleaner

I found it through an internet search for crossdressing and telling my wife. It was about 6 years ago, but I lurked for 6 or 7 months before joining.

I joined August 2016 after looking at a number of CD forums. Of all of them this looked the best one, I couldn't imagine being on any other forum now.

I was doing research on crossdressing to see if I could "cure" myself. I found this site (and some others), and I have been able to realize I don't need to be "cured". I lurked for years, then finally joined a few years ago.

Over the years I did many internet searches looking for information. During one such search, I ran across this site and realized that it was filled with much of the information that I was looking for, written by people struggling with many of the same issues that bothered me. I lurked for a few years before joining. However, what I read from you all gave me the advice and information that built my confidence to go out in public after 50 years of suppressing that desire. I thank you all so very much for all you've done for me by sharing your experiences.

I found crossdressers.com when I was exploring my crossdresser side and I found out who I truly was and i enjoyed the atmosphere that was here.

I honestly can't remember the details but I know I'd been casting a wide net over every resource I could as I was attempting to get an early handle on who I was. Mostly I'd been going places like GeoCities.com, West Hollywood and looking at personal web pages once I found a crossdressing "ring" to follow. Sometimes I would reach out and make contact with someone who seemed to be interested in teaching about crossdressing and what it means. Eventually, after about 9 or 10 years of that kind of web surfing, I found this site, possibly from a mention or link on someone's page. I think I lurked for about a month before I signed up.

So, it looks as if I formally joined October 2010. I lurked for awhile, but, I really cannot put a finger on the date. I probably was doing a "Google" search and stumbled across it. I retired January 2008. I know this site would have been blocked at my office computer. Or it would have been interesting trying to explain to IT why I was logging in all the time. One of the pitfalls of trying to find out "legitimate" information about cross dressing is doing a search and stumbling upon the porn sites. I suspect this would be very troubling for a spouse doing a search on her husband's quirks. Better to tell her about the site than finding all the other questionable sites.

I'm pretty much the same as everyone else who's posted, ie googled "crossdressing" and this was the only site that showed up that didn't have people who wanted to "date" me or try to sell me something, I lurked for years reading what I could Until my wife found out about the real me! and I joined in the Summer, oddly now that Millie's out in the open I find that my need to look at the site daily has disappeared, but my dressing has become pretty much full time indoors so I'm happier than ever.

I don't remember how I found this site, probably with a search engine. I lurked for five or six years before joining.

I still lurk most of the time.

When my crossdressing urges came roaring back a few years ago after an extended dormancy I started googling crossdressing and this site popped up. After lurking for some time I finally jumped in and I'm so glad I did.

In late 2014 I was doing Google searches for information and for sites that sold CD/TG supplies like breast forms. At the time I had just started going out in public, and wanted to get as much information as I could. As I recall, this was the third or fourth CD related forum that I checked out, and the only one I found worth staying active on.

I was looking for ******* porn mostly back in 2008. I remember I joined this site but didn't pay much attention to it for the first couple of years. Not enough dirty pictures! Then one day I became interested in some of the topics and got pulled in!

I goggled "crossdressing" and this was the site that I liked the best! Most were wanting to sell you something, even access to the site! There were a lot of porn sites also! This was and still is the best! I lurked for a few months and then finally joined! Hugs Lana Mae

My wife found this site shortly after I came out to her 2 years ago. She was looking for answers and thought I might find it helpful. I lurked for a few months and decided that this was for me.

Like most others who have replied, it came up during a search for crossdressing.

I find most of the information I have learned was while I was looking for something else.

I wanted to find out more about this cding thing. Searching found this site and joined the same day.
When I found my wife was perusing my computer she came across some pictures of me that I sent to Leann she also did some searching and found all the porn sites
all she had to do was ask and I would have sent her here.
And yes she found that I have a name I go by Leann and all she could say was interesting.
and she thought Leann was an ex

Did a search on the internet looking for like minded crossdressers. Not sure when I found this site. Found way too many sites about crossdressing and sex and that isn't what I was looking for.

I originally signed up when Becky emerged in 2005, I can't recall how I found this place... went inactive when I lost the girl in 2008 and then came back here last year when she was back... I remembered how good the site was back in the day and then had a bit of trouble remembering my ID etc...

Looked at various sites on-and-off over a period of time. Lurked here like the others for a while. Found this one to be the "cleaner" one, because they monitor it, and clean it up when necessary. Toni G..

I posted on another site for years, and this site came up when I was typing into my search engine. I've been lurking here for a while. The other site has developed a political bias that I just couldn't live with, so I thought I'd try my luck here.

I actually joined originally in 2006, under the name allisonrn06. Found it as several others have said doing a generic search for crossdressers. I had to take a hiatus in 2010 and when I decided to reconnect in 2013, found I couldn't go back to using that name again, so I came up with a slight variation of it.

Like most responders so far, I searched "transvestism" and was delighted when this site came up. I joined immediately. I soon discovered that I am not like the majority here as I do not attempt to look like a woman. While I have empathy for those that do I wanted to differentiate myself from them. After many years struggling to find a proper term for people like I, finally came up with "Miad" which seemed to catch on as others began to use it too.

Lurking for awhile from the outside this was probably the only site that seemed clean and I wanted so bad to join but never joined anything that concerned my dresseing. It just seamed like everyone had real life experiences and real life advice and it just seamed like a place I knew I would enjoy. I don't regret joining and have tried others but there's no place like home. Here!

A few years ago started browsing the internet, mostly finding and following a number of CD and transgender blogs. One was Hannah's, and after maybe a year I noticed a link to this site on her blog, I asked her about it and she gave a favorable recommendation. And she was right! Has been a very gentle and friendly place. I always thought it was just me (well, probably a few more) but to my surprise a whole community. Glad I signed up!

A few months back, blessed with some Callie time, I spent part of it surfing for CD and trans related sites, sub reddits and YouTube channels. In the midst of that search I found this site. I was reeled in by two threads, one of which spoke to a topic that I was on my mind that day. I found the discussion mature, frank, and self-reflective. And I was hooked.

When? A couple of months ago. I made the decision that I wanted to reach outside in a way that I could be part of a group, but still be in the closet. An internet forum seemed to be the best idea. I, like many others, googled and found a few suggestions. I joined another site. It was more set up towards dating and wanted members to pay a premium to have full access. The discussions on there weren't really what I was interested in. I searched again and found this. It's just what I was after. I like the quiet nature of the site, I like its firm but even handed moderating. I like that its free, there as a resource for all who want and need it to use. I like its lack of adverts. It was just what I was after. I think that unlike many, I didn't lurk but signed up pretty much straight away.

I am not sure of the date or year but it was when we had gotten our first home computer and I had my first laptop and I traveled for work. Sometime around the late 90’s or early 2000’s. This site was in its infancy when I first discovered the great reading and comfort of knowing I was not alone in my struggles. Just like myself we have came along way since then but it has always been there for me when I needed to remind myself that I was not the only one with this lifelong struggle. I guess I could be considered a senior creeper of this site!

Well, I found this site thanks to Google. For years, I have been interested in finding out what makes me tick. Why do I cross Dress? What makes me different from other men who do not crossdress? How many people like me? Am I the only one or is there a substantial number of us? Also, I was always curious about shopping experiences. While I had purchased lingerie fo myself, I had never tried anything on before buying. As a result, I had spent a fair amount of my small cd budget on mistakes. Especially on bras. So I wanted to find out from others about their shopping experiences. Has anyone actually gone into a women’s clothing store and tried on a dress? When I found this site quite by chance in 2012, I was encouraged to see that there were a lot of good answers to my questions. As a result of some of the posts here, I actually had the confidence to go into a Dress Barn, try on and buy a dress. It was a great experience and I will do it again when the opportunity presents.

In that time, I've learned a lot about myself and others. One of the best things I ever did was joining. :)

I was searching for a picture containing both Bowie & Candy, at Max's. (I'm sure they're my Parent's, or Warhol & Candy???)

I don't know exactly where the link was but It was definitely whilst researching part of Candy's life, as that's also a"Pass" time of mine!

Joined then and there, didn't read the rules or know the etiquette! I Should get on to that!

Stacy!

Like many it was via Google and like so many I lurked for a while. I can remember just how nervous I was about joining. I'm sure I hesitated before making that final click. Seems strangle now given just how far I've come in what is a relatively short time. Just shows what a little support and encouragement can do.

Prowling on Yahoo and looking at CD pictures saw this site and just observed a month or two then joined. At first I had my face and body in my avatar and profile, it stayed that way for several months then some posted that people can come on and lurk so I quickly started making pictures that would be hard to recognize me and be positive. I'd show my face if it was only members that's been here for years on. I'm still a chicken about that.

Summer of 2016.
Got "caught". Came out to my wife of 40 yrs. Total shock. I was in a panic.
I didn't have answers to some of my own questions about myself and my motivations. I put aside the denial and started to investigate my condition.
There was a Reddit site i found first but it was difficult and annoying to monitor and read.
This forum was one of the top Google selections when I Googled "crossdressing".

Thank God I found this place. I have learned from a family of experienced, intelligent and wise sisters here. You understand. We're not all alike but you understand why it is important to recognize, love and cultivate my feminine side. This forum has provided advice that literally saved my marriage and my sanity. I've also grown and evolved as a transgender person in my short journey. I love this so; this being a woman. Thank you, forum sisters.

I did a search looking for answers. I lurked for a while after finding this place and even lurked after I joined. Now it is a weekly or more stop when I am not bouncing around the Pacific Northwest in a semi. I am still searching for answers and have had many questions answered.

I've been dressing for many years but came upon this site two years ago in a search. I had not been much of a joiner even though I had been out to the Tiffany Club twice. But there was an immediate attraction to the people here and the breadth of knowledge about our mutual hobby/journey/life. So I joined right away!
