I grew up between two girly sisters and had so much fun trying on so many different things as they grew up. I just thank god they didn't have video cams back then because I was usually doing something silly while wearing their outfits ! LOL
Have you tried wearing these items while growing up ? What were some really fun moments for you as you experimented with female clothing ? Did you ever almost get caught being a bit silly ?
Ballet tutus - Sisters took years of ballet so had tutus from all thier shows so cute and fun to dance around in ! Oddly enough only got caught once when a neighbor boy suggested we try them on with tights and slippers. We were dancing around when we heard our cleaning lady burst out in laughter ! Luckily she didn't tell my mother.
Tennis Dresses with ruffle butt panties - My sisters had the cutest short tennis dresses. It was so funny to pretend i was playing in front of a mirror and giggle as my skirt would swirl and show off the cute frilly panties.
Babydoll Nighties - My sisters had the frilliest babydolls in pink, yellow, and baby blue. Hard not to prance around in a hairnet holding a teddy bear !
Full slips - Swishing was and is still my favorite thing to do !
Bucket list - Square dance dress with Petticoats - Southern Belle dress !
Great Memories !!!
Happy Holidays to you all ! You are an inspiration!

In my teen years I wore moms old girdles and her old hose with the garters. They were fun but many times it was a rush and almost panic city to get out of them and everything put back in her drawers especially when I heard dads pickup pull into the garage behind our house.

I would believe my moms slips, but I went threw a 70s and early 80s mini skirt era. The puffed up ones were fun. Thanks your bringing me down memory lane.

I've worn everything u listed, Robbie. And, quite a few other things girls wear; school uniforms, high school, and college attire, etc.
However, since I only began dressing at age 50, I've worn them all after that age. So, I guess I missed out on the "prancing around" in them stage!

Nothing very silly but when my wife was still slim enough for her clothes to fit me she had a checkout operators outfit I tried on once, thought I looked quite cute in it actually!

When I was 15, I tried on my sister's bridesmaid dress when the house was empty.
It was REALLY pink and frilly. The kind of thing you see in sissy fetish videos
When I went to take it off, the back zip wouldn't budge until I tugged it about five times. For a moment I nearly had a heart attack.

OMG ! I can't tell you how many times I seemed to fit into party dresses of my sisters but had extreme and scary times trying to get out of them !
Forgot to mention their cheer leader outfits ! Trying to really kick those legs high ! Dresses were way easier to get into than skirts -

When I was young, I loved wearing my mom's slips some where more lacy then others and they became my favorites. We lived in a rural area so our backyard was huge and very private, so every chance I got I was in the backyard in a slip enjoying how sheer it felt in the sunshine. Several years ago I had a weekend alone and I went pink, with a pink corset, bra, thong and garters with white fishnet stockings and heels.

My mom had this long, green evening gown in a closet next to my room, and it fit me when I was about 14. I used rolled up socks to fill out the bust - it was the first time I ever wore a dress, ad I felt kind of strange and of course, naughty. I only wore it when I knew the house was empty.

I was so lucky that my aunt took me as a model for carnival dress of my female cousin. I was 7 I think. So I tried, wih my aunt watching me and taking measures, a spanish dancer costume... With a large skirt with red, blue, green and yellow ribbons. I'll never forget this (and I fear my aunt took a picture of this, should be somewhere!!). A cornerstone of my crossdressing, and probably the last time someone watched me dressed before some months ago, that's more than 30 years later.

In the 1940s - my girl cousin's clothing while she wore mine; Grandma's bloomers and corsets when I was looking after her house.
In the 1950s - my Mother's lingerie when I had the chance; my girl friend's (my wife of 60 years) school uniform.
From then until now I have had most of my own things and often share with my wife.

It was the hippy era, and I was a tween. I had long hair, borrowed my cousins pretty swimsuit and went for a swim. One of her friends came by in their boat, saw me swimming off the dock, cut the engine, and asked if she was up at the house. I had no idea at the time that she could very probably see what I was wearing in the water from that angle at the boat, so I just acted normal and eventually she left. After which I went back to the house to change, my heart racing. I'll never know if she ever said anything to my cousin. Now that I think about it, maybe she just assumed I was a girl and we both had similar suits? Hmmm.
And when I was a volunteer at the hospital, I once tried on a candystriper's uniform that one of the girls left hanging in the coat closet. I was in the attached bathroom, in that jumper, and heard someone come in. I changed back to my own clothes, but had no way to hide the fact that I had the girl's uniform. With no way out, and time passing, I thought they would never leave. Finally, I heard the door close, and quickly put her uniform back on the hanger. I learned my lesson; next time, I would check her schedule, and borrow it and take it home, and bring it back before she was going to work again.

Travelling to visit my parents, I left early to shop at some thrift stores along the way. It was before Halloween so I was trying on many costumes, gowns, dresses and even a few sweaters. Not long after I arrived my mother asked why I had sparkle all over my face and arms. Oops...

When I was young and I discovered this thing about me, I was happy that I had an older sister. She never knew, but, over the years, we went through the Brownies and Girl Guides together, we wore the same school uniforms, the same swimwear, the same tennis outfits. We 'shared' her communion dress, her white, frilly Scottish country dancing dress, a black leotard, and ultimately. though not until well after her big day, her wedding dress. Although talking of her wedding, on the day itself, it was comforting to know that I had worn both bridesmaids' dresses and the mother of the bride's outfit too. As for my mother, we 'shared' just about everything, including her collection of full length evening gowns. Actually, for a period of about 10 years, up until I left home at 18, I probably wore everything that either of them had. I suppose, all these years later, it doesn't make me proud, but, in those days, what else could I have done?

Cheerleader outfit of a friend's sister...way too small and almost ended up in disaster. And of course, wedding dresses, ballet tutus, vintage babydolls and teddies...strange, I suppose, but I adore vintage lingerie.

My aunt left her beautiful wedding dress at my parents, so I couldn't resist and tried it on. She was a petit woman, so I barely squeezed myself in, and I couldn't even zip up the back, but it felt great. It had a long train, so I had to be careful on how I walked; I imagined I was walking down the aisle and then tried to swish it around.
My mom had a purple swimsuit, it wasn't very sexy/glamourous but it was my first foray into women's swimsuit. I would wear it any chance I got.

Anything foreign was wonderful in those days of being young. Spent some time at my grandparents when they were away. Grandmas house dresses were the ugliest things on earth but OMG so soft. Always checked the back of bathroom doors when visiting parents friends houses, never knew what you might find. My mom had a friend who use to stay with us a lot. I swear she always packed cotton granny panties cause she knew. Thinking back on it some 40 plus years ago I was kinda creepy. No harm ever intended, I was so curious about things and an average pretty well behaved kid other than that little quirk. Hadn't thought about that in years, thanks.

Not quite more fun but very intriguing was my older sisters halter bra she wore for her prom. it was for a low back dress and had these interesting straps at the bottom that went around my back and belly 2 times. Felt very girly at the time.
This may be a stretch for "wearing" but I so loved getting my hair permed in the early 80's and seeing my hair tightly wound in a array of colorful faom curlers (see link below). It was wonderful, felt so girly!

I'm sure I told this story before on here but my mom got a black lace teddy and thong as a gag gift from her co-workers (it was the 80s...) and as SOON as I saw it I couldn't wait to try it on. I'd sneak into her closet after school before my brothers got home and had a fantastic and frightening 10-15 minutes to myself! Alas I think she might suspect something because after a while it was gone. But those few times I got to try it on were blissful!

Bucket list - Square dance dress with Petticoats - Southern Belle dress !
Well I HAVE done most of those things on your list and many time the two items on your bucket list.
I frequently made them for my daughters and wife and a few for some of her bigger friends. None of my three ever weighed in over 130 pounds each. At the time I was 180 lb and 72" tall.
On my bucket list is a First time Brides gown. I have one from a woman who had married and Divorced 3 times, but it is not like the full length dress with train and vale.
Question. Though drab me has been married twice and have 3 children, Would the CDer Leslie Mary be considered a virgin since having never gotten married in a dress? giggle.

Fun - wedding dresses and swimsuits. When I was in high school I house sat for my girlfriends family, spent 2 weeks over a summer wearing her mom's and sisters clothes and swimsuits - hers were too small. Girlfriend knew and thought it was kinky / fun.
I grew up in a house with 6 sisters so playing dress up was normal, more than one truth or dare session ended up with me in the pool in a bikini or strolling around the house in a dress.

I have regular/normal women's clothes, things that I could (but don't) wear to the mall And I have what I call my specialty outfits, not for wearing to the mall. For me, all dressing up is fun, but specialty outfits are more fun. Maids dress, with apron, lace headband, and duster; schoolgirl sailor uniform; and cheongsam, shortened to a mini dress. There are many aspects to my crossdressing, and fun is just one, but an important one.

I was night security at a major shopping mall in my early twenties. One evening when I punched in I was told about a rack of fur coats for a fashion show that were locked in the manager's office. Once alone, I tried on every single one wearing just my whitey tighties.

Certainly clothing wise it would be the mermaid style corset backed wedding gown i wore for a hpoto shoot. It was from David's and I did the whole shopping and trying on steps a few times at the store before buying this one. It is such a thrill to have on all those feminine layers and to be very snuggly laced into a dress. Of course all the hair and makeup steps were amazing as well.

Possibly the girliest thing I have ever tried on also, though it was an old bridesmaids dress of my mums stuffed into a large plastic bag under my bed. I couldn't get the zip up though as my ribcage was just a smidge too big for a non stretchy dress.
Pastel pink, with a huge ruffled underskirt built in to give it volume, yesh I think you'd have to pay me to wear a dress like that now :o However, a Vivien Of Holloway vintage style dress; now you're talking :lovestruck:

Two things come to mind about some items that were fun. Maybe ten plus years ago, I was able to fully dress in a mid Victorian outfit complete with a corset and all of the undergarments and outer accessaries. Another fun activity was when I acquired a vintage 1960's nurse's dress that I still have and can wear to this day. I worked on getting all of the details right including the hosiery, undergarments, cap, etc. Every once and a while I dress up as nurse Sarah, but I do need help for that damn back zipper !

I was in my happy place (Nordstrom) earlier this year and these dresses had just arrived, so I was the FIRST to try them on. It was an unbelievably fun dress.
The sequins were blue on one side and red on the other. If you swiped one way, the red side would show. The opposite direction, blue. When you walked, the dress would sparkle.
I was standing in the store area (not the dressing room), and Karla, my friendly SA, started running her hands across the dress, changing the colors of the dress. She started at the top and worked south, and soon she was swiping across my nether regions. I made a comment about not having been touched there in a while by anyone other than my wife, but I don't think she heard me.
The last time I was in, they had sold all of the sizes, except this one. At the time of the picture, I told them it would sell well.

I was about 15 and the neighbor girls would always put lipstick on me or do my eyebrows in a fun kidding way.
One said hey we should do your hair ( had really long hair at the time) and dress you for the senior prom next week.
I laughed and said there is no way I am going to the prom thats for geeks and jocks.
The girls Mom thought is was a great idea and offered to drive the two girls and me to the prom.
A few hours in doing my hair and a few hours doing make up we were all set to go.
Nobody I knew recognized me except for one girl and she thought it was awesome so I danced with her for a bit.
She told me some boys were asking who I was and she said its a friend from another school.
It was fun and a great memory I have had for a long time.
That was my first time crossdressing in public.

I, too found my Moms girdles and nylon stockings. Some had four garters, some had six garters. I loved the ones with six garters best. They held the nylon stockings up so much better...tighter. Her slips and bras didn’t fit. She had some high heel slings. When I loosened the heel strap, they fit. Once I forgot to change the strap, but got it changed before she wore them. I amazed myself how well I could walk in them. She’d complain about sore feet. I just smiled. Of course, I didn’t wear them all day, but often wished I could. She had a couple of old crenellations, which I found uncomfortable.

Dressing up en femme is very fun for me, so I am not sure. But camis are fun and sexy to wear. Almost any dress I have is fun to wear and put on, but right now its a tie between my corset dress and off the shoulder dress. They are both fun and exciting, and I get good feelings when I put them on.

Corsets are lovely things. Never knew you could tighten it up yourself until I tried one for the first time a few months ago. I love it. I like to exhale, then tighten for a fairly tight fit. Looks good with my denim skirt.
Oh yes, my long pink wig is quite fun too!

Interesting that you mention ballet tutus. I am involved with a dance school and in our Christmas shows the staff do a comedy dance routine. Last year we were supposed to have done a ballet routine with all white tights, leotards and tutus. It was cancelled for one reason or another, but not before I had bought the outfit. Nobody knows I have it. I actually put it on just last weekend.

I will experiment for future Halloween or other "Costume" events----I won our adult Sunday School Halloween Party with my "Gypsy Fortune teller" a few years back
I was entered in the Church's Valentine Banquet's "Womanless Beauty Contest" a while back It was both fun and disappointing ---For the first time I had GG's do my makeup--- I though I would learn something, but I knew more about makeup than they did. A 80 year old ex Preacher won, (mostly out of sentiment). To top things off, The Camera man forgot to load the SD card when he was videotaping the event, so I only have a couple of bad snapshots of me there.---Still it was FUN!

Full slips - Swishing was and is still my favorite thing to do !
Petticoats
Totally on board with full slips. Wearing my mother's white full lacy slips started my journey although I did not realize it at the time. My fondness for full slips can be characterized as a hobby or an uncontrollable obsession. I have over four hundred full slips. One of the great feelings is to wear several slips on top of each other. My favorite when doing that is to wear several Velrose slips with a 34 inch side seam that comes mid calf. Very sensual.
On the petticoats, once I bought my wife a pink petticoat for bedroom play. It was really full and a lot of fun, especially when I got to wear it.

The evening gown, prom dress, wedding/bridesmaid dress ideas are all very appealing, as is a ballet costume and the French maid one a bit too.
Haven't ever had the good fortune though.
The one thing I consider truly fun and do wear a lot of is toe rings. I practically live in sandals during the summer and have several ladies versions that I wear (i'm one of those fluid, non-conforming types so about the only item I wear that is routinely male is shirts), and I love my toe rings along with my always pedicured and colored toes.
Thinking of throwing in an ankle bracelet this coming summer and see what the reaction is.

I had three sisters one older to younger. (I tried on everything in her closet and half of my moms) I feel trouble I would try on my older sister things. Of course I thought I replaced them perfectly but girls always know when something was out of place. My poor younger sister would take the fall older sister would yell at them to stay out of her stuff.

I was probably 9 or 10. Our sitter was a 16 y/o who could drive us to the pool. She brought her suit and planned to change at the club. I took it from her bag, locking myself in the bathroom, put it on and began admiring myself in the mirror. Suddenly there was a pounding on the door: "Open up, I know you are wearing my suit!" I didn't answer and was totally quiet. She left, came back and told me to come out wearing her suit. She said she wanted to see me in it. Putting the suit on at first was thrilling being busted wasn't especially with my two sisters there.

I was just looking out of curiosity if it fit. (it did).

Well that would have to be my drill team uniform in high school. I've told this story elsewhere--I was the only boy on a squad with 35 girls (we performed at halftime w/pompoms), and yes I wore the girl's outfit -- basically a one-piece sleeveless v-neck cheer dress w/a short skirt. I had long hair so I had to do it in a high ponytail with a bow. Best 2 years of my life despite the ridicule.

I did try on a women's swimsuit back when I was a teen. My grandma had a lot of clothes, but being more interested in period wear... most didn't interest me. Although, there was that one time I bought a Señorita dress costume from a store once. That was fun to wear, despite how snug it was to my body.

I have to agree with a couple of others: for me, the most "fun" thing was my wedding dress. In all honesty a large portion of the fun was the whole process of selection and then getting measured and fitted for it and all, but those things also contributed to building the excitement for the wedding day. By that point pretty much everyone I knew was already aware of my being trans, but even so I'll admit I got a kick out of some of their expressions as they tried to bite their tongues and not be the first one to say something awkward. But really, a wedding dress is something that-ideally-you only wear once in your lifetime, and that makes it pretty special

The first thing that has come to my mind as a 'fun girly thing I wore' were the thigh-high socks that I wore for the first time outdoors 5-6 years ago. That happened when I was on holiday in Bangkok, Thailand.
I told myself 'Look; you know you can only have the courage to wear them outdoors, if you have several beers and get a bit drunk first' :) And, that is what happened. I left my hotel, wearing a t-shirt, minishorts and flipflops. As is usually the case, I had a sports bag with me. Inside, among other things, were my thigh-high socks (bright yellow; lol) and a pair of ankle boots. I can't really remember now, but I think I went to several bars and pubs, and possibly had about 5-6 pints of beer, when finally, I put on my socks inside a toilet cubicle at a bar, and of course, then, I wore my ankle boots.
Well.....I was wearing minishorts and thus I was already in sort of a crossdresser mode; but wearing thigh-high socks is a totally different matter, as you know :) And, it was my first time, and so, I was really excited and nervous when I left the toilet, even though I was quite drunk. This nervousness lasted quite a bit longer, as far as I can remember. I think I hang out like that for 4-5 hours and of course I had more beers, which made me feel relatively relaxed. I headed back to my hotel like that late at night :)
I did a similar thing again....2-3 years later........again when on holiday in Bangkok....and again I was drunk.
It was fun, but I don't know if/when/where I will do it again.

When I enjoyed my dressing and discovering my feminine side, I decided to buy a one piece bathing suit, a babydoll and a bodystocking. When I first tried them on: Oh my gawd!

One of the funniest things was when my wife had got some cloths to donate to good will. We were get more so we store them at my house. My wife was away she wanted me to pack them in boxes. I came across a size 10 black skirt and thought I would like it. It was short but I was younger I try it on well almost. I found later that it was a toddler size 10 did even on up my leg. That when I learned about sizes that day.

I see two others have listed French Maid costumes. I have to agree, nothing more feminine than the the extremes of short skirt, high heels, stocking tops and garters showing, tightly corseted waist, big breasts partly exposed. I could go on and on. Sherrii

Started out wearing my grannys clothes, loved her foundation wear.girdles, corselette's and longline bras,And I adored her full slips.I have carried that on I still love to wear silk slips with lace trim and on ocassion corselettes, the latter more for giving me a shape.
Also at my grannys house was my two aunties bridesmaid dresses,so of course I tried them on and was completely hooked on feeling the chiffon and taffeta on me.

With 2 sisters that attended several balls each other I got to try on several of their dresses. I was the same size and they thought it was funny to teach me how to dance as the girl. I helped them at dance classes. More than one guy hinted that I could be his date for the dance. Today I would have taken him up on it.
