The average American woman is 5' 4" tall ( 162.56 cm)
The average American male is 5' 10" tall (177.8 cm)
Now if you take some dress that looks like something Jennifer Aniston would have worn on Friends in the 90's, designed for "juniors" in mind (young women who haven't reached their full growth yet and thus often cut shorter than usual) and put it on a middle aged 6' 2" trannies body, even a slender middle aged trannies body, it's going to look all wrong. It's going to look out of place. Okay it's just going to look silly. Especially if you wear super high heels with it. (Super high heels do NOT go with everything) It's going to be too short and it's going to look ****ty.
I have here a size chart from JC Penney:
Misses are from 5' 3.5" (161.29 cm) to 5' 7.5" (171.45 cm)
Talls are from 5' 8" (172.72 cm) to 5' 11" ( 177.8 cm)
Ultra Talls 5' 11" (177.8 cm) to 6' 2" (187.96 cm)
Keep this in mind when shopping.

Good to know. I personally fall into the "Misses are from 5' 3.5" (161.29 cm) to 5' 7.5" (171.45 cm0". I'm 5'6 and a size 12 to 14. And I agree, EVERYONE regardless if they are a GG, CD or whatever should know thier size and try to stick to it.

I'm 5' 9" and found that a misses size 14 fits me best. If I try a Tall in pants then the pants legs are too long. Also found that in Talls, the helm that comes just above my knee in a misses fall below my knee in a Tall.

Ok, that's your opinion. But I wonder, do you differentiate between looking 'sexy'and looking '****ty'?
I see droves of teen, 20 and 30-something women around town during the day wearing skirts I'd guess are around 14 or 15" long (very short), and the vast majority simply do not look ****ty. Can't that apply to trannies as well?
However, do I think any tranny who goes out wearing a skirt that's so short his gear is on display at the front, or frillies on display from behind, just looks silly; not sexy, not ****ty, just silly. But that's just my opinion.

I just try to imagine what a 6'3", 175lb chick with a flat chest and a bad attitude would wear.

Jenny, what Veronica specifically mentioned was a dress that would be a bad fit on someone of a size it was not designed for. With that I agree, it would look a bad fit.
If you want to look ****ty, fine, buy clothes that fit correctly and look ****ty.
Personally, in terms of seeing women around wearing short skirts that don't look ****ty, I'd venture that that's because they have had 20ish years practice at putting an outfit together, and back in their teens they may well have looked a bit daft/****ty while they practiced. Many TGs do not have the benefit of that practice, and are at the teenage stage of dressing, hence may look ****ty. Equally, if someone wants to look ****ty, good for them.
The issue in the original post about sizes, I'm not sure how it works in the US but here, though we have standard sizes, each shop doesn't quite conform to those sizes.
So though I'm technically a UK 14 top, I have 10s I can wear from one shop and 16s from another, depending on the cut of the top. Irritating, it just means you have to try things on before you buy.
Take care :)

I wear Juniors clothes, because everything else looks old ladyish to me. Juniors seem to fit as well, however i have never looked into wearing other things. Btw, I am 5'5", 140lbs, so your experiences may vary.
Also, since we are not women, our outer dimentions are different, so some sizes are just odd. Like buying things marked S/M/L is a crapshoot sometimes.

If there is an afterlife, I plan to have a pretty long talk with my Maker about whether a desire to crossdress should be put into a 6'3" tall body...
As far as shortness of skirts goes, I tend to err on the mini side. Nothing truly ****ty, for the reasons described above - rarely more than a few inches above the knee. However, I think my best female feature is my legs. So I want to make sure that attention is focused on them rather than on the tricky parts (basically everything else). After all, I think every GG would confirm the importance of emphasizing the positive.

Well, yes, but I'm 5' 10" and I still do pretty well in a misses size 10-12.

Sleeve length is the main thing that causes me problems. I can fit a 16 or 14 top but sometimes have to move to an 18 to get the right length of sleeve

LOL!! :D Well, except for the flat chest, that comes pretty close to describing me!

I'm 5'9", and I've never had a problem with clothes fitting me strange. I'm a 12/14, and can wear just about anything from most of the major mall stores (Gap, Banana, Express, etc), in either larger or XL. I've never had a fit issue with the arms, and 12R jeans from Gap fit perfectly. Even the denim mini I bought at Old Navy over the weekend was cut spot on.
I think that even though the average American woman is 5'4", most Misses clothes are cut more for a girl who is around 5'7" tall. I know most of my GG friends are closer to 5'7"-5'9", and we shop at the same stores. My mom is only 5'3", and she has to shop in the "petite" dept.
