View Full Version : I like flats

Flats really were my first love when it comes to women's clothes. Flats and ballet shoes and tights. At 12, 13 I even dreamed of doing ballet so I could wear them. I don't recall wanting to dress as a woman. I just wanted to wear flats and tights. Maybe I wanted to be a girl. so I could wear them. Of course I never had the courage to take up ballet.
I also remember at about 12, reading a book about Napoleon. There was a picture of his coronation ceremony where he wore white flats with a bow. My feelings were sort of conflicting, on the one hand I thought that was way too girly for my beloved great emperor and master strategist but on the other hand I was intrigued. And slowly intrigue won me over. Flats with a bow are still high on my wish list. A bit later I got all dreamy from seeing period dresses (victorian and such) on TV but a lot of the female clothes I saw around me didn't do much for me.
Only a lot later did I start to see my desire as a desire to "dress as a woman" and I gradually expanded the clothes I was into, pencil skirts and heels are a pretty recent love (wearing them as I write this, I am completely won over)
Anyway, I don't know where I am going with this. I guess I have two questions to you all. 1: who else likes flats ( come on you girls, aren't flats the best!?) And 2: A more philosophical question: Do we just happen to like to wear certain clothes that just happen to be meant for women or do we like to wear them because they are for women. I used to go for the first option but I am moving toward the second.

Ewww... a HUGE no to flats! Lol... to each their own, but I ONLY want sky high boots, heels and platforms!

I just feel SO much better and SO much sexier in heels! And they make my legs look better too!

I quite like flats, they are cute and as I am 6' 2" they will be perfect for blending in when I eventually go out.

See, cute:

I have bad feet and so flats are my go to shoe if there is any real walking or standing to do. Not as sexy but a lot more comfortable.

Cute indeed, Thunderbird. If I didn't control myself I would own 800 pairs of plain black flats. I don't see the option for posting pics otherwise I would show you the pair just slipped in.

Was Napoleon a CD? Interesting question. I'd say "quite possibly" but irrelevant to his place in history.
As for your qiestions: I honestly have no idea. For me: I just want to be a girl, always have and probably always will.

Oh. And flats? They suck 😊

Don't like flats.

I wear shoes because they are cute and go with my outfit.

No flats for me. It feels like a half measure. My minimum is a 3 inch wedge and my current favorite is a pair of red and black velvet pumps with an ankle strap and three and a half inch heels. When I dress, I'm a man in a dress, and that's what I want people to see, not an ambiguously effeminate guy in a girly top.

I like flats and heels! One of my first pairs of shoes were flats and I have a pair that are effectively my house slippers. Based on the picture you can tell I like like the scrunchy ballet flat myself. Like the shoes I like dresses, heels and skirts because they are dresses, heels and skirts and not so much because they are womens dresses and such. I love some of the Homme Mystere products.

I wear flats and heels. I like both and wear what is appropriate for what I am going to be doing while I am dressed. If I am working around the house,I wear flats.

I like flats as well. Gladiator sandals, riding boots, and of course the ballet flats. I believe every outfit needs the right shoe and sometimes that means flats.

Ballet Flats with opaque tights and a nice A-line or skater skirt is one of my favorite options.

Flats have their place in one's wardrobe, as do heels. However, for me, heels take pride of place.

I bought flats for when heels hurt your feet on a night out and pull them out of my purse and wear the flats back to the hotel. Only time I wear them.

Will be using my Flats tomorrow--as I have nr 200 yds to walk on dirt/gravel/rough path to get to the bus stop from my place. Then will put on 2.5" dress sandals for the ride, then walking to do at the other stop. I Love my 4" Pumps, and Block Heels sandals, but they are not practical for walking very far. That dadblummed landscape rock we have outside can wreck Shoes in a hurry!! But its my shortest route out of here. So like the GGs do, I carry a bag for the shoe changes. Use my Tall Pumps mostly for photos. Use my Flats or Low Wedges for walking. Blessings Toni G..

I'm a Flats Girl by preference! & I'm often told that I need to stay grounded, my flats keep me fairly close! Win win!!!

As for the Ph. Q. Both, my skirt was designed to fit a woman with my figure!

I love my flats !
Certainly I love my heels as well, but for everyday wear doing everyday things flats are my go to.

I think my love of flats began when I was very young and I was captured by my cousin's patent leather Mary Janes. They were so pretty and feminine and I wanted them so badly. Never did get a pair of my own, but I still think fondly of the memory.

Well this is what he looked like https://www.rauantiques.com/emperor-napoleon-i-in-coronation-robes-by-joseph-joachim-guernier
Aren´t those flats cute! I guess he used his power to convince everybody that this was the macho look, or else...

Esther. Great painting, though "after Gérard." It didn't end well for the little Corsican, though.

I just got my first pair a couple of weeks ago because at nearly 6 ft heels make me too tall. I always loved high heels and for years never had anything else. but I will be looking for more flats in different colors to go with my other outfits.286055

Julia, I didn't realize it wasn't the original painting. On the Gerard version he seems to be wearing different shoes though.
You might say his career went a bit down hill but he did end up getting a lot of me time. I hope he was allowed to take his stash of white stockings and flats with bows to Saint Helena..

I absolutely love flats!

I have a few pairs of heels and sandals but more flats than anything else in different colors and styles.
Also, while I'm not extremely tall or anything ( 5'-10") I prefer to not look any taller than I am, and like
to also present as an average woman my age.
When you go to the store or whatever, you mostly see women in flats. I think theyre cute, comfortable, and
an another expression of my feminine self...Theyre more "me"

As far as number 2, these days I wear them because they are for women..

Good post and Merry Christmas!

There are two things I like about flats.

1) they're much easier on the feet for long walks. 2) They are women's shoes. I have two pair of flats. One pair are white sandals, the other black and shiny. I don't care for the ballet style myself.

For me, a pair of comfortable heels (under 3") is wonderful.

Maybe it's an age thing, Esther? I used to think my high school girlfriend and the other girls were cute in flats. When I was 16.

But, I'm 70 and no longer have any interest in teen girls. I also have no interest in presenting as one.:heehee:

I'm now attracted to sexy, adult women and prefer to have Sherry present that way whenever possible!:battingeyelashes:

I would ask u similar questions to those u asked:

Do u wear flats because u find them attractive on women?
Or, do u wear them because they r more comfortable and u r less likely to be noticed out in them than heels?

I wear those shoes that best match the outfit and color. If I have two pairs that are different only in heel height, I wear the pear I feel is most appropriate for the occasion.

At the time I was in high school (the 90s) flats were not common at all but I was fascinated by them anyway. Most of the articles of female clothing I was interested in where not very fashionable at the time. It is quite hard for me to figure out where the fascination comes from. Maybe from very early childhood memories or from movies. Maybe subconcsiously they represented an idea af femininity.

In the present it is more the other way around:I like it when women wear flats because I like them for myself. When I check out women most of the time it is because I envy their clothes/shoes.

One of the quickest giveaways of a crossdresser is being the "woman" in the crowd who is 6' 4" tall and wobbling around in a pair of 4" heels. If our goal is to pass or blend into a crowd as a woman, we wear flats unless we are uncommonly short for a man. Most of my shoes are flats. When I go out it's always in flats. I'm not really going anywhere where heels would be expected anyway.

Yes I love flats especially ballet flats; with opaque tights or stockings and a dress or skirt.
Work well with jeans or leggings too.

I love flats, being tall for a woman tends to lead one in that direction.

I too love ballet flats. They have their place in my wardrobe. For one, I wouldn't wear heels with a miniskirt or shorts. Yes, the combination can be sexy as hell, but for some reason the overall "cuteness" of ballet flats works for me more when in a miniskirt. And secondly, in terms of colour coordination, the miniskirts I have work way better with ballet flats I have.

Ballet flats are my absolute favorite! Coupled with a nice pair of pantyhose or tights, just love the look and comfortable feeling of them! I haven't wore heels enough to get good at walking in them yet, but no issues with those shoes! Also grew up around girls doing ballet as a stage techie person, so I bet I was influenced a bit there too.

I'm 6'1" and in my younger days would wear a moderate heel from time to time, but love sandals to show off my pedicure. So being used to sandals made flats an easy option. After I broke my heel a couple years ago heels became impossible to wear so flats, athletic shoes and sandals were my go to shoes, as long as they complimented whatever outfit I was wearing. I'm almost healed enough that I can wear a short heel now and plan to when I don't need better traction in the ice and snow of winter.

And I wear them because they are the shoes that go best with the clothing I'm wearing at the time. If I'm presenting in guy mode I wouldn't be found wearing ballet flats or cute sandals, it needs to correspond to the rest of the outfit.

Yes I would have to say that I love my flats. I have several pair and they look feminine and feel great. As to your second question, I wear women's clothing because it is women's clothing.

I enjoy flats also. Wearing them with cute ruffle socks is one of my favorite looks. Flats are great and your feet don't hurt from wearing them all day while you do housework.

I used to be a heels and boots only Gal until I had my 2nd most recent outing where the GG I went shopping with persuaded me to buy a pair of flats, which I put on immediately. I have to say I really did love wearing them, I have to agree 100% with Fiona comfy and cute. Of course flats also helps keep my height down to help me blend. Of course when i went out for dinner that night I was back in a dress with heels. But my blue flats are now a proud addition to my wardrobe.

With my big fat feet, flats are a sensible option, but recently I have found a pair of sandals with a 2 inch heel which look good and actually fit me, so they are my Go To shoes until I find a pair of heels which actually fit me. Having said that, if I find a pair of flats which look feminine, and make me feel feminine, I have this feeling that I will end up living in them. Of course, half of the fun is in the search.

I like Sandal flats.

It keep the height down and keep the tibia leg shorts as women's tibia are shorter. Also you can blend in better.

If I'm going out the with shoes it's really horses for courses. If going shopping I always follow the mantra dress to blend so 95% of the time I'll be in flat boots. They're more comfortable and less tiring on the legs if you're out for a day. I do have a pair of ballets that I wear on odd occasions.

The 5% of time spent shopping not in flat boots will be in a fairly low heeled court or strappy wedge. If going out socialising then that's when the heels come out.

I don't know what qualifies as a flat heel. My every day women's heels for doing domestic chores is a comfortable three inch heel. No strain whatsoever on the legs. Higher than that I feel it in the calves. When I took up going for evening strolls I found a narrow heel did not work well walking on concrete sidewalks. Very uncomfortable. I found a pair of heels which are about 1 1/2 inch with a solid heel, not narrow spike. That shoe is very comfortable for taking strolls. And the material on the entire sole/heel is really not noisy. I consider that another plus....not attracting attention with the 'click, click' of a narrow heel.

I love the look of heels, however since I am 6 feet tall they make me tower over my SO so much that I think she's a little bothered by the height. So I wear them for casual relaxing around the house from time to time. Also I really prefer open toed so I can see my painted nails.

I was never a flats fan. Far prefering heels. But a serious foot injury and several months in a full, no contact leg cast has led to a change of heart. I have been told - NO HEELS OR ARCH SUPPORT. What is left - flats. It is what it is and effects my choices in clothing. Still, this is better than no foot at all.

Open-toe Flats sometimes for comfort. Will use two pairs tomorrow for walking to the bank. And back. "Crummy pair" to walk on gravel, then switch to my nice Lifestrides for the concrete. Like to see those Red Sparkle toenails glistening in the sunlight. ! Prefer 2-3" heels, but with bad feet cant walk far in those either. So often do the shoe-switching thing. Toni G..

Flats are a good choice for those of us who are tall. I'm 6' 0" and ALWAYS wear flats or a VERY low heel when I go out. I really don't want to accentuate my height when trying to blend into the crowd.

Do we just happen to like to wear certain clothes that just happen to be meant for women or do we like to wear them because they are for women. I used to go for the first option but I am moving toward the second.

I agree that the clothes we wear are solely meant to be worn by women. That is probably why I love high heels. I do have a pair of ballet slippers and I really think that they are feminine. Heels are my preferred footwear.

I rarely wear heels when hiking or to the supermarket. :-)

Great for dress uo time though.
