I am sure most of us feel a lot younger when we are dressed. As I put my makeup on I looked and felt 20 years younger. How old do you feel?

When I dress I no longer feel old.

Difficult to put it down to dressing alone as I feel about 30 and act about 18 half the time anyhow!

But I do present as an immature 29yr old and a mature 30yr old mostly.

I feel younger but I don't think I look too much younger. Although my complexion is fabulous with the make up on.

If I felt any younger than I already feel it would be criminal.

I am probably in the minority in this. I am 36 in real life but when Amanda comes around she is 50-69 years old.

Sara,
Without doubt yes I do .

One story recently at my social group when I was buying a new wig , it was a GG selling them .She remarked that she would be celebrating her sixtieth birthday with another male member of the group , so I asked how old she thought I was she replied mid/late forties, when I told her I had six years on her she was astounded . Losing twenty years through CDing , everyone would be doing it if the secret got out !

In low moments I know time is running out but a breeze round the shops soon cures that , I have to admit it's why I chose my new avatar , it makes me feel younger just seeing it .

I do feel a younger like if I was in my 20's not my current age of 53. I do like the outfits made for someone younger.... so that may have something to do with feeling younger.

Yes. I feel at least ten years younger when I'm dressed. That may explain why I'm always on the internet looking for more feminine things to wear.

I'm not sure I feel younger. I love to dress, but it has no affect on my age.

Well, with suffering from male pattern baldness wearing a wig knocks a lot of years off. I also look younger in my male mode when I wear a baseball cap.

I'm 60, but when I am dressed, I definitely look younger. When I say how old I really am, it is not unusual for people to actually ask to see my ID as proof that I really am 60, and I've had people guess my age as being as young as 27! Personally, I think I pass pretty well for being in my early to mid 40's when I am dressed.

I'd say I look 10-20 years younger dressed and with makeup. I feel probably 10 years younger than my age regardless of guy or gal mode... I like to be active and using power of positive thinking to stay young - at least feeling young :)

Not sure. I am certainly happier when dressed. That alone may take some years off.

I feel and believe I look about 10 years younger, then again just having hair on the top of my head takes about 10 years off. lol

Sara I have been dressing so long (55 Years) I feel all the way up to late 50's I looked younger now at 62 I'm a 62 year old man and lady. Ps I'm ok with that :)

I seem to feel younger when dressed.

CarlaWestin
12-30-2017, 10:29 AM
Certainly much younger. Carla is somewhere between 14 and 42 depending on the outfit, makeup and mood. Even dressed conservatively and age appropriate I appear to be @45.
And fortunately, it goes that way in drab mode.

I feel about 45 and my wife agrees that I look and present at about that age.
I love it 'cause as we all know, it sucks getting old.
I don't think I could ever "dress my age" and be a little old lady at any point in my life.

NancySue
12-30-2017, 01:06 PM
For sure, especially when all goes well...makeup, wig styling, etc. My wife totally agrees and is amazed. As mentioned, aging sucks, but we can’t stop the sands of time, so anything, even perceptions help.

I certainly feel more alive. Younger? Maybe. I still haven't fully grasped the fact that I'll turn 70 this year. How the heck did that happen?

Alice B
12-30-2017, 02:52 PM
Yes, in two ways. I feel younger as dress and I look younger once may make up is applied. I wish wearing make up was more accepted by society as a whole, so this old lady could look and feel the part

I've kind of felt like a tween girl since i was........about 13. There's this thing in the back of my mind, waiting for my girl life to begin. Through much of my childhood, I thought if I was good, god would fix me and I'd become a girl when I reached my teens sort of like the other girls. I've known it was never going to happen since I was about 18, but that doesn't stop the feeling. Knowing that I'm screwed up doesn't stop the being screwed up part; it just helps me understand why I feel this way. When I'm dressing or dressed as a girl, virtually all the thoughts involving male specific things in life sort of fade away.

Makeup can give me 10 years when done properly.

I always dress younger, frumpy is not for me.

I also feel younger and the feeling stays with me for hours. I am 70+ and with my belly and the appropriate dress I can look like a 20 year old pregnant woman.

When I dress, I do feel younger. According to my youngest daughter I do look younger too. Maybe because I keep my gray hairs in check.

I feel the same age but I hope I look younger as the hair (wig) is not white but strawberry blonde. A few wrinkles might get filled in with foundation too.

Accepting my transgender identity in itself has had a positive affect on my age. When I look around at males my age, I see old people. I am energized by my gender identity without even dressing.

Anyone else feel this way?

For fun, try the Microsoft How Old Are You app https://how-old.net

For me I have been flattered by the results. My male photos come up as 5-10 years younger than my real age but for my female photos the results have gone from 10-30 years younger! I have a suspicion the software has been designed to underestimate ages rather than overestimate :)
However, I have been even more flattered that Danielle is always identified as being female. :daydreaming:

I don't know if I feel younger but I've found that as a 60 year old male the foundation makeup makes me look at least ten years younger.
I also noticed that after I wash off all the makeup I still look younger and found that on afternoons when I had dressed in the morning people would say I look great.
It's not fair that men are frowned upon for wearing makeup!

No, I feel about my actual age. Maybe that's because I only know how to put on eye makeup.

A weird effect it does have is calming some of my phobias. Ex: I absolutely hate airplanes. If I put a gaffe on before flying... Well that works better than booze or benzos.

It brings out other phobias, though... Particularly social ones. Ex: I just got a text now and am also CDing. They probably won't get a response until tomorrow morning.

As a comedian once said "you are only as old as the woman you feel" I don't think he was referring to us 'girls' but he hit the nail on the head in my case. I definitely feel Becky is younger. I always say he is 53 but she is mid 40s :) I hope I look the part too!!

I've tried similar apps but only managed a 5 year difference between makeup and no makeup. Clearly I'm doing it wrong :(

As a guy in my early 80s, I don't feel younger. But, with makeup, my age appears to become less, and when I add a wig, Voila! I' look 20 years younger (in my never to be humble opinion).

Makeup and a wig certainly makes us look younger and I'm no exception. I can't say that I feel younger but I feel more relaxed and at peace with myself.

Not sure if I feel younger,,but I think i look younger, (the wonders of good makeup ),plus the feelings of being fem arouse the suppressed inhibitions of my maleness? In other words, its a wonderful place to be.

I feel older so much older...if you've read any of my posts, you'll easily realize that I'm quite vain about my appearance. When applying makeup I fret over every wrinkle, every line on my face and neck...ugh! I'm just so much a "Nikki"!

Not really, but I dress in male and female mode as at least 10 years younger people than me. Luckily I have smooth skin and very little wrinkles on my face, so I can hide some of my years.

Younger? Maybe. Freer? Yes.

I don't think I feel younger. I think I look a tad bit younger (one friend disagrees though). One thing is that the hose (especially support p/h)and shapers do keep the body from hurting.
Kaylie said it well. It is the freedom that makes it work for me.

Absolutely. I’m 71, i feel I dunno 10-15 years younger and the shift comes over me as I get dressed all pretty, I get a spring in my step as I shift my hips back and shoulders into a feminine gait, my eyes get brighter partly due to makeup but also from the light within. Looking and feeling younger is one of the reasons why I dress as much as I do.

For a long time I thought I had Peter Pan Syndrome - you know, the little boy who never wants to grow up. I used to describe myself as having a 23 year old brain inside a 50 year old body. Sometimes those two would get out of sync and my brain would be all gung-ho about doing some physical activity but my body would say "er, no!" and complain about it later.

It took me a long time to realize that the 23 year old inside of me is a girl and she influences my fashion tastes. While I think she may be starting to get older, I've always dressed smart casual of someone in their 20s. So, yes I feel younger when dressed.
