Hi Girls,

I do not own a purse, no reason to as I do not go out dressed, yet. But I know in the GG word a purse is a very individual thing. Size, color, carrying style are very important to the woman. If I ever got one I think it would be in black and on the small size and have a shoulder strap. I am truly not sure why I think that way but it is my point of view at this time.

I was wondering if any of you had purses and if so what styles / features / colors were important to you and why were the features / colors / styles important to you?

Mine is brown, on the smaller size, with a shoulder strap.

You have described my usual one almost perfectly. Black you can wear with anything. And only about half of my dresses came with pockets.

Hi

I really like handbags (purses), although I dont often venture outside my flat I do have a large collection of handbags. I think they give a very personal touch and are a nice accessorie.

When dressed , even if just chilling out in my flat I always have a handbag with me. I prefer to wear a larger bag with a fairly long shoulder strap. I find wearing this style helps my feminine movements and mannerisms. I do like many clutch bags but I find them more awkward to use.

I think handbags are great and good fun, I do sometimes take a bag with me when in out shopping for clothes and make up, however its just great to use a handbag whilst swanning about the house.

I all so don't have one because I don't go out yet, but soon I hope.

Your type is what I would pic, shoulder strap because I don't want to hold it all the time, black because it goes with every thing, and small becouse it will hold my wallet and a few make up supplys.

I have a handful in different colors. All with straps and small to medium sized. But most the time only use the black one. Be sure to get a woman's billfold to go in it. A man's wallet looks like you pickpocketed some guy.

I use a purse even in drab.. Its a small over the sholder brown bag, it holds credit cards (for shopping woohoo) Reciepts from shopping. And all the other clutter that would usually go in pockets. The purse is very androgenous and in two years I only got one comment, ? Why are you carrying a purse.. Answer... Its not a purse its a holster, wana find out. For girl mode I have a lovley Coach over the sholder bag for necessities.

Like my clothing, I have a growing collection of purses. My latest is an off white medium sized faux fur shoulder bag. I can't wait to use it. I also have a black satin evening bag that I can't wait to use when I go to the Tri-ess dinner/dance on April 8th in Hackensack, NJ.

I agree, I find this type of purse helps when it comes to movement and mannerisms. I also selected this type of purse because it is the one that I see most females carrying while out shopping.

Mine has a compartment on the outside of the bag that zips open and has places for ID, bank cards, paper money and coin. That way I do not have to carry any type of billfold that I have to pull out and open in front of anyone who might notice that my ID, etc.. reflects a male.

A purse/bag is part of a woman's outfit. The right or wrong bag can make or break and outfit. When I saw this post, I did an inventory of my purses. To my surprise, I have 37 purses. Each one has a specific look and will set off a specific outfit.

Do you have a Birkin or a Kelly? I'm also curious as to how many shoes you have. I know you have some with the famous red soles. ;-)

And why aren't you on AF? (alt.fashion) :-)

Veronica, Since you ask--I have 4 Louis Vuitton bags, One Prada bag, One Gucci bag and one Dooney & Bourke. The others are a mixture of Aignier, Liz Claiborne, etc.

For my shoes, I have just over 300 pairs of womens shoes. As you noted, I have a couple pairs of Louboutins (with the red soles). I also have numerous other designer shoes.

I like quality in what I wear.

I carry one all the time.

I have about ten - five of which are in 'regular rotation'. I prefer shoulder bags with a fair amount of room but not too bulky though.

Here's what I'm schleping at the moment:

All my bags are black: they match everything and they're understated - however there's no mistaking them for a 'man purse' (ugh!)

I have this RED bilfold that i carry sometime out in drab. When I open it, you see a organizer with a calculator. Doesn't really look like a ladies bilfold. I found it at Kohl's one day. While I was looking at them another customer mentioned that it was nice of me to buy something for my wife. I looked at her and said "this is for me not my wife". She looked at me for a sec then scaned the bilfolds and said "Buy the RED one".

Girls, girls, girls. Tsk, tsk. The purse color always matches the shoes.
Red shoes, red purse. Black shoes, black purse. The style is optional. When in doubt, watch what the real women do.

Melinda, The purse does not have to match the shoes exactly, but should be the same color hue as the outfit and shoes. Again, as you said, look at gg's and how their bags fit their outfits.

Then I guess it's a good thing all my shoes are black! :D

I also don't have a purse/handbag yet as I rarely venture outside enfemme. However, I do have an idea of the type of purse & handbag I want - all shapes colours and styles. No one type of handbag will suffice for all occassions and clothing!

Ok, so I have to start with the basics, but over time, I will purchase to suit my various outfits. Don't they say handbags have to match the shoes? That's somewhere to start I guess.
