Hi ladies! I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this but I had a Chinese meal and my fortune cookie made me laugh as soon as i read it. It said “it is never too late to be who you want to be”, my initial thought was, holy s, then I laughed.

Some people like to add "in bed" to the end of their fortune cookie quotes.

The cookie is not true. When you're dead, it's too late.
Strange thing is, I bellieve the Chinese don't have these fortune cookies, just invented them for western restaurants.

It's amazing the way the fortune cookie works at time, a while ago we were finished eating and I handed my friend a cookie. She told me that she has to pick the cookie herself, so on purpose she picked another that would probably been mine. The cookie read " you are going to meet a tall and handsome man", I found it strange that the cookie would be directed to one sex and I could have got that cookie and it wouldn't have made sense. My friend said that I didn't get the cookie and she got it and that's the mystery of the cookie.
Was there some reason it was impossible for you to meet a tall, handsome man? Or are you adding meaning to the word "meet"?

No the Chinese do not have fortune cookies. They were invented in San Francisco by the owner of a (ironically) Japanese restaurant.

We'll never thought of that. I guess my mind is always in the gutter. Thanks for seeing the glass half full instead of half empty.

Penn Gillette once included a set of fortune cookie inserts in one of his books. One, as I recall was: the tumor is metastatic!

I got one once that said, and I quote it exactly,
"You will die in 7 days."
That was about 20 years ago, and I'm still here, so my faith in fortune cookie prognostications has been forever shattered.

Diane -- it could still be true. It didn't say which 7 days. ;)

I actually got the Bazooka Joe wrapper (oh, God, am I giving away my age?) that had this classic fortune on it. "Help, I am being held prisoner in a bubblegum factory." I probably still have it pressed in the pages of one of my books.

I know I'm still waiting to be rich n famous. I don't believe that its going to happen so I haven't put much faith in the cookies since....
