I was wondering if anyone has any experience with waist training using a corset. I have done a bit of looking around, and the various vendors are saying that regular use will give permanent results over time. I am interested in having a more shapely, curvy figure, and would be over the moon if regular use of a corset will actually change ones physiology.

I do understand the difference in female vs. male fat distribution, and I’m guessing that wearing the corset over time relocates body tissue to conform with a more feminine outline.

Most importantly, I’m curious to hear from anyone who has done this, and if the changes are both noticeable and permanent.

Okay, I’m actually interested in hearing about any experiences at all!

Thanks so much!

Brooke,

I would guess that to alter your shape would be a long term thing. After all you're talking about modifying your bone structure and that's not going to happen in a few months let alone weeks.

One thing I can say it wearing one will make you loose weight. Having your stomach area compressed reduces what your stomach will hold. It makes you feel full after eating relatively small amounts of food so your calorie intake tends to drop and that leads to weight loss. Again, it's not going to happen quick time but it will have an effect.

The effect of the weight loss will be that as a male we tend to store more in our upper torso, shoulders and arms. Lose that and you move towards a more femme shape.

I have to say though, if you've not worn one just the additional shaping they provide improves your look wonderfully especially if you add in hip/bum padding.

Yes corseting can give you a smaller waist. But 1. You essentially have to wear one full time for years and 2. It can be very bad for your body. You’re essentially squishing internal organs and forcing them into places they don’t want to be.

I tried wearing a waist cincher under my clothes for a few weeks, able to wear it for 8-10 hours a day. It is less rigid as a corset. That also helps reduce intake as Helen mentioned. I did notice a loss of waist that remained even with it off, more so that just the weight would be expected to accomplish. It also warmed the belly and may have speeded up intestinal movement. But nothing is permanent, but it should have a reasonable effect.

Just try working out because squishing your internal organs just sounds crazy to me.Ewww ouch.
Why not try hip pads and a corset to get the figure you want?

I usually wear an under bust corset or a cincher almost every time I dress. The downfall is they're ALWAYS visible through tighter clothing no matter what I use as layers over them. Otherwise, I absolutely love the feeling wearing one. Guts squished or not.

I have been wearing woman's jeans with the high waist for years and have moved my waist line up a few inches from where it was when I was young. Take a look at my profile picture, I am not wearing any type of shaper under it.

But it took YEARS.

I have worn a corset much of the time I have dressed, for 50 years. I don't know if it has rearranged all my internal organs.lol. But I do know I have a waist line, where I once did not,

Google 'tight-lacing with corsets'.
Micki is right, it's a long and painful ordeal.

I had a friend a few yrs back who was very active in the bdsm community, her take on it was yes, it works very well, you just have to commit to it.
According to her it's 16 hrs a day, 8 months before any real results can be seen and it requires an actual steel-boned heavy corset.
Those'll run you around $150 usd on the low end, throw in the pain, the dieting, the learning how to breath a different way, and the fact that your range of motion will be severely limited.

But hey, other than that it's easy peasy!

For me? Not that I have the funds to even really consider it, i'd look into the reality of going under the knife and having Lipo done before i'd go the route of corseting. Then again Traci has the real cure............2 bazillion crunches. Yuck!!!

Translation......

"regular use will give permanent results over time."

It takes years of wearing a corset on a regular basis.

My bra marks are a permanent part of me due to regular wearing of a bra.

None of this happens overnight, if you go to extremes you can disrupt the action of your internal organs where it becomes restrictive around the waist.

Occasionally I go through a tight corset phase. The tighter I cinch the less I want to eat, the less I eat, over time, the tighter I can cinch it. It's a great feeling when I'm in the "zone." When I stop, and start eating regularly again the hard work disappears. So is it permanent? I guess if you permanently damage your internal organs in the process then yes that is permanent. But the hour glass look disappears if you stop cinching and start eating.

I did it for a few months straight. I could tell a difference, but if you stop, it will revert. You have to be motivated and committed for the long term.

When I was researching corsets, I found Orchard Corset to be the best buy. I have purchased 5 over the years as I lost weight. They also have great service and can help you choose what is best to get started. https://www.orchardcorset.com

I doub't even a good corset would do much for me now (fat) but I have used them in the past.
Very uncomfortable at times but you can look great if you are willing to stand the pain.

If having a corset on is literally "painful", it does not fit properly, or is laced too tight or incorrectly. It should not be "painful", just restrictive. Reasonable (stress reasonable) lacing for most is safe.

I wore tite laced corsets every time I dressed for 10 years. I started with a size 28" and finished up with a 24".
What will corsets do and what won't they do?

Over time they re configure your interior organs. They don't have any effect on body fat.

U can re configure your waist. But, if u stop wearing a corset, your natural shape will soon return.

If u wear a thin girdle your corset won't show thru tite clothes.

A tite laced corset may or may not hurt everytime u wear it. That depends on if u have protruding ribs like I do and if u max tite lace or not. My ribs were always sore for a couple of days.

I don't wear corsets anymore because they damaged my sciatic nerve.:thumbsdn:

Corsets r very effective in hiding huge beer guts. They r even more dramatic on them than on us skinny girls!:daydreaming:

I bought off the rack steel boned corsets. I found they shape themselves to your body over time. Glamour Boutique sells a well made, simple, waist reduction corset at a good price. Many cd.comers have them!

You have way more experience with them than I do Sherry so I trust your words.
I just can't imagine getting a corset laced up where all my fat would go LOL either out the top or the bottom maybe even both so that would be a pretty sight I'm sure

Hi Brooke, I have two corsets I bought from Vollers. There were very helpful in supplying them especially to suit my size.
They transform my shape and allow me to wear more feminine dresses than I would otherwise be able to.
I am able to tighten up more each time I wear them and so I think that there probably has been some reorganisation of my internals, to some degree.
They uplift my breast skin and allow me to get away with wearing smaller forms to achieve a half decent cleavage too.
Personally I wouldn't be without one, but they are not comfortable enough to be worn 16 hours a day as they do restrict one's movement somewhat.

First of all, I doubt that wearing a corset would give you a permanent smaller waist. Second, if you believe otherwise, I suggest asking your doctor if this is a good idea and what potential health problems it would cause.

I believe diet and exercise would be safer. And as Tracii said, padding will give the same effect. Pad the bust and hips and the waist seems smaller.

I have certainly enjoyed the temporary reduction in my waist measurement from wearing a good corset.
I have no experience with using corsets to shift my innards around. I have read of women who have reduced their waists by the regular use of corsets. So, it is possible but I wonder if it is healthy.

Anytime you alter how your organs sit in your body it can't be good.

Not the same effect. Padding makes you look heavier and a corset makes you look slimmer. If you are stick-thin then padding is the only way to go. In my opinion, if you are battling a middle-age stomach, as I am, then a steel-boned corset, while not perfect, is a better temporary aesthetic solution.

The downside for me is that you have to sit upright, bolt upright, and while that's fine at a cocktail party, it gets tiresome trying to watch a movie sprawled on the couch (I do that a lot).

Google Mr Pearl. He's this tiny guy in Paris who hand-makes corsets for people like Prince and Kate Moss. He's been wearing tight corsets for decades- his waist is smaller than a child's. Bizarre.

It's true. Any time you want to speak well of someone you say "their heart's in the right place." ;)

I tried corsets at one point in my journey. I got pretty comfortable in them but there were two things that made them not work for me: first was the indigestion, second was it gave me the sense I was wearing a disguise (which of course I was.) Like the old song says, "I gotta be me."
