View Full Version : Going to wig boutique tomorrow to dress up and take pics with wonderful owner & SAs

As I shared in my avatar post...The wig boutique I frequent has invited me to see them tomorrow and dress up for the owner and her co-owner and their sales associates! They're always so kind to me, taking pics, helping me with my female voice, and providing constructive criticism about my female mannerisms including walking in heels. From the wonderful feedback I've received from my gfs through this post I hope to create a new avatar pic...I think the brown wig received the most votes so I'll likely take pics with that hairstyle...also hope to go outside for pics which always creates a combination of excitement and nervousness. I'll just keep telling myself you can do it, you can do it, you can do it...it's planned days like this that remind me what an inspiration it is to see gals on this forum go out & about in the real world...such courage!

A few days ago, the owner's daughter (who is a boutique co-owner) invited me to visit and dress up, take pics, girl talk, etc. Today, I called the boutique to confirm my visit and the owner picked up the phone. She was so genuinely excited and happy to know I'd be paying a visit. It's so much fun dressing up for them (I've done so several times over the past couple years) and they really are pleased to see me. Since my wife recently allowed me to shave my legs (hopefully she doesn't make me grow the hair back), I'm planning to take some pics wearing a dress and showing off my bare legs!

Hell-o Nikki,
I stopped in at my local wigery (like winery, but slightly different)
to pick up some wig wash. The SA was absolutely wonderful, and
seemed to “want” to help me any way she could.
I can see how you would be excited to be making
another return appearance!
And yes.....YOU CAN DO IT!
Still waiting patiently (sorta)
Much Love,
Kristyn

Kristyn, I was planning to glam up tomorrow, but I've been convinced by a friend to try and create a casual look. See if I can create a look that would enable me to go out and blend in among the muggles...that's so not me to be casual in my appearance...but, I'm going to try my best...yes the boutique owners/SAs are so absolutely sweet and helpful to me...they truly understand my struggles and they want me to be happy...they are so absolutely wonderful friends...I really really really cherish them! Nikki p.s. so hard for me not to wear a lot of makeup! And wigery...LOL!

Honestly Nikki, I swear! I believe we’re gonna have to
sedate you before you’’d even remotely consider putting
on a pair of jeans?
WTH!

kristyn both your posts made me LOL... first your reference to winery, let me warn you do NOT drink the wig wash it will not end well... Secondly you so nailed Nikki's fear shock horror jeans!!!
Nikki, I am so looking forward to seeing some pictures of you as 'A Becky' perhaps at the local coffee shop?? :)
I am sure you will have an amazing time at the wigery and I look forward to a comprehensive trip report with pics!!

Now I'm being berated by both Becky and Kristyn...not fair...I am so not ready to even begin the thought of ever wearing jeans! And I'm not at all ready to go out in public during the daytime casually dressed. No coffee shop visit this time around. If my friends at the wig boutique think I may eventually be ready to go out in public and blend in, I'll start to consider it...but, it will depend on a few things first to include getting a 100% virgin European hair wig which I'm saving up my money for as we speak. Really, you two are heartless girlfriends pushing me out the door...I"m not ready...Nikki p.s. And Kristyn...mean/mean posting a pic of you wearing blue jeans...I have to admit you look really spectacular...but, I still don't think they're the outfit for me! As for dressing up more like a Becky I will give that a try today at the boutique and may go outside for some pics...we'll see!

Today, I arrived at the wig boutique at 10:45am and didn't leave until 5:45pm. Had an absolutely wonderful time with my girlfriends (boutique owner, her daughter who is a co-owner, and a sales associate/boutique manager). So much fun and took a few pics inside and outside...plan to post soon and describe more about how the special days went. Nikki

Here's a pic from my recent visit to the wig boutique. One of the sales associates and I walked over to an abandoned building nearby and took some pics. As I got dressed up, I tried to stay true to feedback I've received from my forum girlfriends: more casual makeup, less hip padding, a conservative dress, outside pic, and bare legs...I hope I delivered! Nikki,
I keep saying that is harder to do than dressing to the nines. Deciding how little makeup you need what clothes will be suitable , this is where you really need to have some friendly SAs. I had a lovely time last Friday choosing a matching scarf and gloves to go with a jacket I chose to walk the dog and slip on when I need to do a quick shopping trip when the weather isn't so good , I find everyday wear isn't boring it takes some thought if you went to blend in .
How did you feel going more natural ?

Teresa...you're so very right! It is far more challenging to use less makeup in creating a naturally feminine presentation. The gals at the boutique were so helpful as always. They shared with me that my makeup application was just right for a daytime look. They said its was perfect! I was particularly careful to wear less eye makeup. I stayed with a neutral brown eye shadow with a light application of smudged charcoal eyeliner. I'm slowly getting comfortable with this new look...it's growing on me...but, I'll never give up the gorgeous glam look that I love...I'll be careful to go all the way when the occasion is right..clubbing or out for an evening dinner date! What's really great, and a testament to your skill, is that you managed to come up with a compromise look that worked for daytime and still looks really pretty. You could wear that outfit to the right office.

Hell-o Nikki,
Well??? Ya know I love that dress.
And in this photo...you make it look amazing!
Boy! Could I tell you a story about hanging
out in an old abandoned building!
Please get me the phone number to that wigery.
If those “friends” of yours at that place don't
think you’re ready to go out now...
I need to set them straight!

Nikki's post reminds me of a post some weeks ago mentioning a wonderful wig shop here in Houston called Wigs with Style. It is in a small town, more or less suburb, in northwest Houston called Tomball.
I visited a few weeks ago and was fitted for a new wig by the very helpful co-owner. I have gone there dressed and been treated as if I am one of their most important customers. So, to reinforce Nikki's story of a helpful and welcoming wig shop, all you Houston members need to go and check out Wigs with Style. Businesses that treat us cross dressers so kindly need our support.

As always, the visit to the wig boutique was wonderful...so many stories to share and I hate writing lengthy prose. So, I'll share little vignettes, one of which was talking to the wig boutique co-owner (late 20s/early 30s) about purchasing a 100% human hair wig. She's suggesting a wig from Gardeaux...she had a client with one of their wigs and she was very impressed with its quality. On the Gardeaux website it doesn't say if it is 100% virgin European hair...so I'll need to check that out first. I'm continuing to save my money...
...oh, and Kristyn...I'll share in a later post about going out all dressed up...for right now, just walking over to the abandoned building and taking pics with the SA was such a thrill...perhaps others can relate...I felt free, liberated, content, nervous, overjoyed..all wrapped up in one! it was such an awesome day!

And April...I so happy to receive your note...it really is hard looking pretty with less makeup...I struggled to figure out how to create a casual look for daytime. Basically, it came down to less contour and dramatically less eye makeup. I'm happy you think I pulled off a nice look to go to office. I do love the dress...but it's clearly for the fall. Fortunately, is was a very chilly Spring days last Saturday...so the dress worked out just fine

Nikki, a shopping trip is in order, clearly the new you needs some casual clothes. Maybe your next time out can be to the Mall?

Going to the mall is so passe...I'll do some on-line retailing! Out to the mall en femme is something I'm just too scared to do!

Well one day I am going to have to fly over there and drag (no pun intended) your pretty self out shopping, its incredible fun to find a dress on a rack and be able to go try it on.

I'm off to spend the day en femme at the wig boutique greeting customers and helping out wherever! Snow, I'm shy about sharing where the boutique is located. But, I can say that any wig boutique worth their salt serves the transgendered community with excellent service and embraces us for who we are inside as a human being and not on our gender identity. Alison, Becky and Kristyn...appreciate your notes as I always do! If the owner asks to go out for coffee or lunch I don't know what I'll do...so nervous with just the idea of it...

Did you pack your lunch box?
(you do eat lunch don’t you?)
Going out for a coffee, or lunch seems
to be waaayyy more normal of an activity
than hangin’ out in an abandoned building!
If the owner does want to take you out, just
let her lead the way, you’ll be fine.
Remember all those jumbled feelings on your
last outing? It’ll feel the same, there’ll just be
people, and food!
Have fun!
Much Love,
Kristyn

I spent the day at the wig boutique en femme. Learned in talking to the owner and staff that I look best wearing a cinched corset without hip pads. They said the corset alone creates sufficient curves for a feminine figure. The owner said I look better, and my eyes pop, by wearing a modest set of false eyelashes. But, alas, among all the items I brought to get ready at the boutique (and you forum girls know what I'm talking about), I forgot my lash adhesive :(
And fortunately, the boutique was busy so the owner didn't broach the subject of going out...I'm just not ready to go out in public...I may consider after I get my 100% human hair wig...I know it won't change my physically masculine features, but having a nice head of hair will help me feel better about myself!

For my Austin Angels day way back when Jamie cinched me in as tight as I could stand and...no hip or butt padding at all. Hugs, Michelle

Thank you Consuelo. I am new member, (this is my first post), and was trying to work up the courage to ask if anyone had a recommendation for a Wig store willing to accept a crossdesser as a client. I live in North West Houston so Tomball is not far away. Now I just have to work up the nerve to make an appointment!
Thank you again.

Nikki,
How exciting! Going to the wig shop where you'll be greeted by friendly familiar faces. Wow! Now that's comfort at its best. i too have yet to adventure out and present en fem and look forward to it; however unsure i may feel. It's been suggested that group CD settings as a nice way to blend in and learn to feel some comfortness. Something i hope to do in the not too soon future. Still, i am still in the process of "creating tammy" for outside wear, tear and visability. Will i be able to pass? I believe so. Time wil tell.
In the mean time, can't wait to see your new look and in time share mine for all the girls...

It was a bit disconcerting meeting with clientele...although I don't know for sure it felt as if those who clearly saw me realized quite quickly that I was a male physically presenting female. It makes me sad but I shouldn't be surprised if what I felt is true. Transgendered woman transitioning to completely and realistically look as female as much as possible often require hormones and facial feminization surgery. I feel like a woman inside...I wish I could look like a woman on the outside. If I could get up the nerve I'd ask the clientele what they thought about my feminine presentation.

I've saved enough money and visited the wig boutique and ordered a 100% European hair Gardeaux wig (#1567)...cannot wait to get it!! :) Nikki

Visited the wig boutique picking up my new Gardeaux 100% European hair wig along with fitting and styling...and it's absolutely GORGEOUS! The hair is so soft to the touch, doesn't tangle whatsoever and moves and flows effortlessly...it was so worth the money...I should have bought a high quality wig like this one years upon years ago! Well, no point pouting about what could of been...I simply have to enjoy my life and my new wig as we move forward into the future! Nikki
