View Full Version : The Demise of Craigslist Personals

Many of you may know that Craigslist recently discontinued their personals service. This was prompted by legal concerns regarding new laws clamping down on sex trafficking on the internet. I suspect that there were many CDs, like myself, who used this service to meet other CDs. Sure, there was more than a fair amount of fakes, frauds, crazies etc.; however, with some careful vetting, I was able to meet a handful of sane, compatible “sisters” over the years. I am not sure what exists as a suitable replacement. Any thoughts?

The venues for meeting through 'personals' ads will continue to diminish as website owners will be held responsible for any trafficking occurring on their sites. Even venues such as this site could possible be affected via the meeting threads.
Remember that the authorities do not have to prove that trafficking is happening, just that the possibility exists......

With the possible demise of Facebook as well, maybe the web will be a better place

Nah, it will just get censored more (at least in the U.S.). Since the demise of net neutrality, it seems that ISP's can now simply shut off access to whatever they want. So in order to limit their exposure to legal complications, I foresee more and more things being eliminated from access until the gov't changes it's stance once again.

I don't think Facebook is on the brink of going away, but I do miss my 5 minutes a day of reading "casual encounters"

Craigslist personals... in the end probably a good thing that it is coming to an end. I am all for the 1st amendment, believe me. The problem as I see it is it became or always was just a cesspool for so many desperate people. It did the trans community no good. Because of the many who are not truly trans but just looking for some sort of sexual outlet it made the rest of us look bad. The 2 times I did view the personals, every time I saw someone looking for meetups to be sissified or whatever else, I thought, It just keeps the fear factor and all of the general misconceptions of TG people front and center. I can see where someone who has viewed the personals and then seen someone out in public would think of the personals and equate that to which they had seen.

Yet another reason to move to a more sane part of the world. Let's see, that's number 347 on my Canada list. It's leading the possibles.

There is apparently a new site that was created to replace Craigslist Personals called “doublelist”. Is anyone familiar with this?

There us also Bedlist and a few others but when people started switching those sites crashed because they were overwhelmed with web users.

What's wrong with this site for one? I've met a few CDs on this site which led me to meeting even more.
But you didn't specify if you are looking for hook ups with CDs or platonic CD friends to go out with. It isn't against the rules to send PMs to others on this site. And what you talk about is private. As for sex related free dating sites, there are still plenty out there.

Try Fetlife. It's a bit bazaar, but I met a few nice people on it. Actually, we're mild in comparison to others on there.

I will try to adhere to forum rules in posting this.......
Imagine the net where what you are allowed to see is controlled by a particular group that has a vested interest in what you are allowed to see
There are those who would ban any sites like this one, for example... or any site that does not adhere to the "straight and narrow" as they see it
This is how it starts.
keep in mind that there was movement a few years to ban any site that featured education on the female anatomy as they claimed that such educational content was just pornographic .
Preventing sex trafficking is one thing and commendable but, lets no go down this slippery slope where we throw out the baby with the bath water.

It's intentional Conflation of child sex trafficking with willing consenting adults who advertise on these sites.
women politicians can't control there husbands so they
CONFLATE ,sex traffic minors with consenual sex of adults.
when one holds a mirror up to the opposition, their claims of "family values" & "moral superiority" but
Older women politicians husbands cheat like it's a popular trend!
Instead of sesta they should call it SES
Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act
Stop Enabling Sex
