In my situation now these little events are bound to keep happening so this was another little story from this morning .

I was dressed ready to do my jobs around the town, the UK weather has not improved so it was my black cord trousers again with my heeled boots and warm jacket and scarf. There must have been a meeting next door , I believe the Inner Wheel Club , several cars were parked along the road and as I was walking down my path to my car a lady parked and got ou. |She had covered my drive a little so she asked if I could still get my car out . I smiled and told her it wasn't a problem , she smiled and began to walk off , then turned and looked thee times as she walked to my neighbour's house , she then had to walk to their door facing me, I could see she was looking with a confused expression so I just smiled back at her as I got into my car . I wonder if the Inner Wheel had something new on their agenda for a few minutes !

I won't bore you with the shopping trip as it went very smoothly apart from me having to make an appoinment at the doctor's surgery to have the arthritus in my toes checked out. The receptionist took my details and then asked if I wished to resume using my male name or change it to a female one, wasn't that very thoughtful of her to ask . My reply was the same as I give on the forum , my femme name is derived from my male one so any change I choose to make in the future will be a simple one, even keeping the same initials .

I must admit on my return I was hoping that no one had blocked my drive, I'm not sure if they would appreciated me knocking at their door to ask the person concerned could move their car .

hello Teresa,
maybe next time you could block their drive so the Inner Wheelers would understand the problem?
luv J
p.s. what is it with the English weather - 7 degrees today, 27 a week ago, 7 the week before that?

I drive out of my drive when I'm dressed in daylite hours with no wig, baseball cap, shades over my makeup, and a men's jacket over my fem outfit! My neighbors don't give me a second glance.

Just the way I like it!

Teresa get used to that because it happens all the time.
Just smile , wave and be friendly if they speak to you.

Confused or curious? Or a bit of both?

If she wasn't expecting to see you then that perhaps shows your neighbours aren't gossiping about you to all on sundry, which is I feel a good sign.

Unless they're embarrassed to admit to having a CD'er living next door. After all, it might effect property prices don't you know! Just joking.

Tracii,
That was the point she did speak to ask if she was blocking my drive too much , I just use my normal voice perhaps that's why she was confused , I'm not saying I passed but looked like a lady going off shopping with my handbag over my shoulder and my supermarket bags in the other hand .

Rogina ,
I don't fear it at all but it could have been very interesting asking a dozen ladies who had blocked my drive and asking them to move their car .

Helen,
I know there is some gossip among the dog walkers ! I would guess there will be some now among the neighbours with this incident .

She was probably just weighing up the situation. :-)

Teresa, she was not sure, but there was some tell, so she kept re-checking. I'm certainly not out as much as you, but it has happened to me as well.

Just to add a footnote to this thread .
One of my shopping needs was from tool supplier ( Screwfix to those in the UK ) my wife wanted some heavy tree loppers but they were out of stock so today I had to collect the order , annoyingly I had to go in drab because my next call was visiting my sister in law , she knows but hasn't said she would be comfortable seeing me dressed . The same sales girl served me as yesterday, her first commnet was wow you look different , then she was why I don't do it all ther time and I explained why , she thats' a shame because you look very good , I thganked her for that as I left .

I was surprised no one has made a comment to the receptionist's question as to what name I prefered to use , it was the first time I'd been asked that officially, it did feel good to be given that consideration, I certainly wasn't expecting it .

Jamie,
Being out more openly is working out fine, It has been easier than I expected and I'm also taking most things in my stride, OK nothing major has happened so far , fingers crossed it stays like that .

Teresa,
By the sound of it you are having a fun time, no? definitely yes, anyway your nearest neighbours know about you already so its not such a long shot for everybody to find out. The good thing is you are being accepted at each and every time, good for you! If life where you are is anything like mine your town/parish council will know as well if not now soon, have no fear about that one it made no difference whatsoever to me and life goes on.
