I am always seeking to find out what make people such as those of us who belong to this forum tick. what makes us as we are? Only those of us who are involved can really know so I have wondered whether there any good surveys with meaningful results that I could be lead to.

I found this one to which there had been over 3,000 submissions but were the right questions asked?

I believe that there are virtues and vices which do not depend on our assent, but "taxonomy", the business of building a set of categories to sort a collection, is not like that, and I think you're asking the "taxonomy" question. When we categorize, we are imposing something that began in the mind, on realities which exist outside the mind, and everyone's free to try their own.

Guess in the end I'd have to go with Ockham (sp?), who, if I understand him, says "the one who can explain the most in the fewest words deserves the prize".
