I was at an airshow last week and a woman walked by me in a beautiful chiffon dress to die for!
A P47 thunderbolt was pulling up into a loop above me at the time and all I was doing was looking at that dress.

I have this crossdressing thing really bad girls! :)

That reminds me about being at one of the pre Super Bowl concerts in Minneapolis MN. It was not easy to keep my eyes on the performers. They kept veering off to the right and the skirt of a woman dancing with her friends.

I've had that (I'm a bit of an aviation geek). Remember going to Barton and Woodford Airshows near Manchester in the 80s, usually a boiling hot day (that or a monsoon) and all the women would be in summer dresses. I was torn between looking at them and watching the aircraft!.

A P47 vs chiffon dress...my brain would split.

Tough call. No not really the dress would win! I love summer dresses too.

At least you have your priorities right.

Well you can probably see another P47 or that one another time, the dress you may never get another chance to see. But still..... Sherrii

I had a similar problem with a P-51 Mustang above this beautiful outdoor wedding and all the female finery.

since i have never seen a P-47 in person, I would choose to watch it more.

I would probably be looking at the P47 but keep taking quick looks to the dress since I would rather look at the dress but not want to awkwardly stare or anything :)

A P47 Thunderbolt or a beautiful dress. That makes my head spin!

Suzy,

You crack me up.
It almost sounds like me too, except I know in that situation I would be getting my thrill from the P-47 Thunderbolt, and not the dress. Yes.... there will always be dresses but when can you see such historical beauty and power ? After spending a career in high performance aircraft, I am aware of my "weaknesses".

I was in Duxford once, and there were flybys by a P51, a couple of Spitfires in formation, and a Sea Fury, plus an RAF Hercules and some choppers did a low pass over the runway. There was so much activity it was hard to visit the interior displays.

I had an airport about 2 miles as the crow flies from where we used to live. The owner had a P-51 for a time. Used to get air shows on the weekends. him and his buddy had biplanes and they did dog fights on sunday mornings over the house.

I'd follow the dress. Hands down.

As a side note, that P47 run up its engine with its tail pointing in my direction about 20 ft away. I had to hang onto the waist high fence as my feet almost left the ground by the slipstream from that huge four bladed prop.
You yanks made a fine aircraft!....but then the only airworthy Mk 1 [battle of Britain] spitfire took off and reminded me that we didn't do too bad ourselves back then.

The dress was figure hugging with a chiffon layer over the top that went in at the wast and then fell lose and flared as it went down to just below the knees. Sort of 1950s and looked beautiful on a very lovely woman. She noticed me glance at her but had no idea what I was thinking obviously.

Isn't life fun.

It’s a lot of fun to fly the P 51 nothing like that big old Merlin out there with 55 inches of manifold pressure and feeling it fly off the ground then the rest is up to you ????

Keep your nose up in the turn

It would have been a tough choice with a P47. If it was a P38 Lightning though, it would definitely have been the P38 and the same thing for a Spitfire.

Jean TG Not particularly into Aircraft. But If i was lucky enough to see a perfectly restored Spitfire flying past, theres no dress however wonderful that would stop me from taking in that wonderous sight

I can totally relate to that!

I find when I see a girl in a beautiful dress that I'm looking at the dress not the girl.

Yesterday while driving home I saw a girl in a sexy dress, and if you asked me what she looked like I probably could only describe what she was wearing.
