So last year at Pridefest was the first time I had ever gone out and definitely help me break out of my shell a bit. This year it was even better! So before this weekend only 3 people were aware of "Jess" and now I get to add 3 more to that list of friends :) I may be branching out slowly but this has been so great so far and I have had it very lucky so far. Anyone trying to step out I recommend going as its such a great environment of people at pridefest. It's so great to have people in my circle of friends I can be my full self around and be ok with me being gender fluid. I went with a few of my friends that I went with last year and we met up with two others we know whom I preemptively talked to about how I would be coming. I don't think they were to surprised and they treated me so nicely. It was really fun though because a friend of ours that we didn't know was coming to pridefest spotted our group and introduced themselves to me not actually knowing who I was. Gave me a big confidence boost since one of my own friends didn't recognize me. He was very complimentary and so great about it. He said I should definitely get out more and that I blend very well. He was really curious about who did my makeup and the process which I am happy to say I did it and have been working on it for some time. I really am lucky to have such great friends! Overall such a great time getting to walk around and see some of the shows. So for all of you thinking about it Get out there and love being you! It can be amazing when you share it with your friends!

All the best,
Jess

Well done for getting out there, sounds like a fantastic expereience.
I want to do pride myself eventually.
Unfortunatley, my friends dont approve so I will have to go on my own.

Jessica, sounds great. I have never gone to pride dressed, but I have always enjoyed the parade her in DC.

Be outgoing, smile a lot and engage in conversation with your friends and this helps break down the barriers.
You are doing something right.

Smiling and being relaxed is a big plus.
