Even when not dressed I enjoy openly shopping for feminine clothes, shoes, makeup. I’ve sat in shoe depts and tried on shoes, asked associates which dressing room I could use, tried makeup on while in male clothing. Anyone else?

Sure I did that a lot when I first started out.
Since then all my clothes and shoes are womens so its just normal now.

I do a lot of my shopping in total male mode. I'm not out and if the wife isn't with me I just go to the makeup department and get what I need. Same with hose or panties. I've been asked if I needed any help by the SA and usually I tell them what I need and they usually lead me to the area.

Sure, do it all the time, and never any problems. one time she ask me if it was for me, I answered " What do you think" and it was it.

I don't have a problem with drab shopping either Occasionally I have gotten a comment but nothing rude or condemning. I get a kick out of telling the SA its for me

Wow, such an intense question. I have done most of my shopping in local stores and have been helped with makeup by the SA. My first wig was from a wig store, heels, hose and panties from a big box store. I was so scared when I was doing this but the selection for my size was not always readily available as most stores in my area cater to the more petite woman. So I started shopping online with brief outings to local stores for makeup and other odds and ends. I have never had a problem with anyone sales associate or other customer when out shopping or looking, thanks.

These days, I nearly always wear a skirt outfit while shopping for my girl clothes. It's gotten to the point where, if I show up in drab, they ask me if anything is wrong.

I have tried on clothes in the dressing room, had makeup applied in Macys and tried shoes on in a shoe store...

I'm not nervous about shopping in drab, but when trying on clothes, I need to wear my corset and forms to evaluate how things will fit. So I might shop for underwear, makeup, shoes and jewelry while drab, but will usually avoid looking seriously at dresses, skirts and tops unless I am dressed for the occasion.

I've gotten pretty comfortable shopping en femme, but shopping for women's clothes while dressed in male mode still just feels incongruous and uncomfortable to me. On more than one occasion, I've seen a particular dress when out in male mode and thought "Oh, that's cute, I hope it's still here the next time I'm out dressed."

From a practical standpoint, I don't like buying any clothes without trying them on, and it's generally frowned upon to use the women's fitting rooms while dressed as a guy....so trying something on requires the inconvenience of finding a male fitting room, which in a large department store, might be clear on the other side of the store on a different floor. Too much hassle.

Much easier and more fun to just shop en femme. :)

I have never had a problem doing my own shopping and love to wander the womens' dept on my own and buy for myself. My wife and I have an unwritten agreement that if we are shopping separately we will meet in the lingerie dept.

I have no issue shopping when not dressed. I shop often for dresses and have gone into Sephora and tried on makeup. Even in male mode my female side is always lurking just below the surface :)

I'm an open shopper.

My confidence took a battering some time back, and openly shopping has been such a big part of me regaining the confidence of who I am. Not a planned thing, it's just me being me!

I personally wouldn't recommend shopping openly if anyone was not out though!

Count me in the shop anywhere for anything in drab. Like many others here; for me its just shopping. I have not tried on make up in any store.

Sammi,
I guess it comes to the point where we relate to Eddie Izzard's saying of not being female clothes/items but they're mine I'm shopping for my needs like any GG would .

I have to admit I do enjoy it even when I shopped in drab , now it feels quite normal to check out racks of clothes and shoes. OK funny moments can and do happen , as I related a story in the shopping section , I was in my slip when a young woman pulled the curtain back in the changing cubicle !

One thing that I have discovered over the years is...

The only people that really care about a person presenting as male shopping for female clothing is us.

It took me a long time to go shopping for myself, but once I had I wondered why I had never done it before. As has been said, the shops just want your money and the vast majority of SAs will be professional and courteous.

I used to shop in drab all the time. But now that I've overcome my fear of going out, I try to only shop when dressed. I've even done errands not related to my CDing while dressed.

I don't say I'll never shop in drab again; something might just catch my eye, or I may not be able to dress on a day I want to shop, but if I can avoid it and shop dressed instead, I will.

I have no issue with shopping in any mode. I truly believe in what someone thinks (on this matter) is none of my business.
I respect the dressing rooms for how I'm dressed. If I want to try on a dress and I'm in male mode I go to the men's dressing room. I know...easy to say... not as easy to do. Ok...so I may check out the procedure or how busy it is before carrying an armload of fem things into the mens dressing room but once I make up my mind I'm doing it...then it doesn't matter....they can think what they want.

Openly shopping is great! I've managed to find a couple of stores with some amazing sales associate that have gone out of their way to help me shop. I have had a couple of awkward experiences. I try to have fun with it, and when the sales team doesn't seem to be comfortable I simply move in to another store. The thing I like about women's fashion is that there is so much to choose from I don't have to be stuck with one style/store.

Only once have I ever made it clear that the dress that I was buying was for me. That was at a Dress Barn and it was a great experience. However, I have purchased other dresses, One recently at Ross Dress for Less and plenty of panties and lingerie where I am sure that the SA thought that it was for me. Never had a problem except one time buying a bra at a Catherine’s where I got a dirty look from one of the SAs. The one who checked me out was very professional and polite. All in drab

I'm planning on having a girl friend that knows help me out. I have tried the internet but I am rather clueless in women to men sizes. She is a BBW so will be able to help steer me in the right direction I hope.
Thanks

I have shipped in male mode and enjoy femme. I'd much rather shop dressed up. It just feels a lot more comfortable to me. And that's just my personal preference. :)

Do i shop in drab? I have and still do. Sometimes I have the wife with me and she makes suggestions. She sometimes even looks for items for me and then shows them to me to get my opinion. When dressed, I am on my own, but I go to dept. stores such as Sears, JC Penney, Wal-Mart, Meijer, and the like, and try things on and take pics for later reference. Makeup is usually drab with the wife, mostly at Wal-Mart. Jewelry can be anything from anywhere, but I get quite a bit online. Lately, I have been trying to add errands to when I am dressed, and even found myself looking for a reason to go out dressed. I am no small person either, so I have caught a few GG's holding it in a bit, not all, but most. I keep thinking that people are staring, but for the most part, they aren't. Still have that level of anxiety from time to time.

I've done a bit of shoes and recently tried some things on in a boutique with the owner's blessing.

I bought a pair of shoes at payless once and the girl behind the counter upsold me on the little socks you wear inside flats... She never broke salesperson rapport and I never felt uncomfortable for one second.

Now if DSW would only start carrying size 12... I'd be golden (this mail order shoe buying is not good)

I have only gone shopping once while dressed (which was great), all the other times I have gone in drab. The first time at the thrift store I didn't try it on, after my wife got me a skirt that didn't fit, I always use the changing rooms unless I know for sure that it will fit. The first time I was shaking nervous mess, but each time it gets easier. I never enjoyed shopping for male clothes, but I love shopping on the other side of the gender line.

I prefer to shop online once I have the sizing of the clothes from the store down, but it is a little awkward shopping for female clothing to try on. I usually bring a measuring tape with me and don't try any of the clothing on. Anyone have some tips?

Yes , I am fairly open about shoping . I went in to Dress Barn in drab Sunday. The sales Lady helped me select a Maxi Dress .
I tryed it on and purchased it.
Absolutely no problem . And it took place in Texas. Goes to show how far we have come

I don't go out dressed so the only way I shop is drab. Never had an issue with it. I always try stuff on and got a few looks from the customers in the store but the SA were always pleasant.

yes I do it quite regurarily. I must admit though I do still feel a bit awkward especially if it's a male sales assistant at the checkout. Thrift stores are still my favourite as it's always such a surprise what you can find. I did it for a wig once. I passed the wig shop about 20 times before having the courage to go in. Thankfully there was a very pleasent sales assistant to help and noone else in the store.

I do it openly and happily, and only once did I run into one SA frowning with disapproval, but the other made up for her. It is totally safe and quite nice. I don't see any difference in attitude when in dress or drab.

Maybe 10% of fitting room attendants pause and take a breath when I hand them 10 super girly items, but then realize their job is to help and are polite- maybe pointing me to the men's side. It makes their days more interesting, I think, and they can feel they are doing social good if nothing else.
