Would you wear a short skirt in public when your in the upper 70's ?

I am at home and love short skirts, have one in my avatar, I know quite a few wearing them but maybe more in show business.

Are you confortable wearing one out and about in a shopping mall or out on the town.

Everyone has their choice, and just love your comments.

I agree with Tracii but would add that if you HONESTLY think you look good in it then go for it.

Just got my first short skirt today, red plaid, enjoying wearing it in the Provence heat. Would I wear it in public? I think not.

My wife had told me that I better wear some of my skirts now before I get too old to wear them. I figure that if my legs look ok and I don't look desperate then why not continue wearing them?

I have no butt so I don't usually wear tight skirts. But like the dress I have on in my pics it was above the knee by a couple inches and I thought it looked fantastic!

Do what you want.... what other think is none of our business. ( Not to say go into a redneck bar dressed... just be safe )

I don't have the body or legs! Limit skirts and dresses to the knees and not above! Hugs Lana Mae

I only wear a short skirt to parties, or around the house.

I love skater skirts, but a short skirt does attract unwanted attention.

Do I dress age appropriate, er, I dunno. :-)

I don't shop dressed and prefer not to visit vanilla venues dressed.

But, I'm 75 and if GG's wore short skirts or shorts to those venues if I went there dressed I would, too!:battingeyelashes:

I'm supposing you're asking about the length of a dress too! I don't wear skirts. It's always dresses. All of my dress hit maybe three inches above the knee and go south from there. I don't know what is considered "short." My personal feeling is if you do have the body and legs for a short dress then go for it. But, I'll throw in the proviso that there may be some disappointed head turners who see you. I've seen some short dresses on some rather attractive female forms, but, then she will turn around. I'm expecting to see a woman of a considerable younger age. I think to pull it off if you're in your late 70's you'll need to have been blessed with great genes or a good plastic surgeon. But, some people throw all conventions out the window.

PS: Looking at Sherry's dress I don't call that length "short." Define short.

I’ll be 57 this year, and wore this to the mall last week. Was a hot day, so I figured it would make fashion sense & not look out of place. All went well.

If you've got the figure for it sure, why not, though there is short and too short! I have some above the knee length skirts I'd wear out, and a denim skirt I definitely wouldn't.

I think that if it makes a person feel good about themselves, their identity as a TG/CD, then she should wear what she pleases. I think that with short skirts or dresses and a septuagenarian body the only real issues are whether a person feels she has the physique and legs to look attractive, and whether she cares about what is or isn't currently fashionable. Personally, I'm 63 y.o., am 5 foot 11 tall, weigh 152-154 pounds, have a terminal case of the dreaded NoAssAtAll Disease, and have a gym rat's musculature with veins and tendons popping out at all of the usual places where masculine veins and tendons pop-out. So, I never wear tight-fitting skirts (or spandex jeans or shorts or tights for that matter), and am limited to A-Line look because of the limitations of my figure. And, I have a lot of bruises, gouges, scars, and scratches on my legs, some permanent and some temporary, at most times, so I feel limited by the current fashion prohibition on wearing panty-hose. So, I tend to follow the advice that above Forty means that skirt length should be just at the top of the knee at the shortest. However, that is the fears and strictures of my mind working, and I think that if an individual feels good enough about her appearance that she can pull it off she should wear what she darn well pleases! The psychological and emotional reasons why Crossdressers and Transgenders wear women's clothes are convoluted and complicated at best, and we should all wear the clothes which help us resolve those needs Edit: For people who want to emulate what clothes are worn by mature genetic women, I'd suggest that you Google or Bing and find recent casual photos of Jane Fond (80), Candice Bergen (72), Lily Tomlin (78), and Diane Keaton (72), as starters. I figure that these women all have the money and experience to dress most fashionably for their age, as well as the personal trainers, makeup artists, cosmetic surgeons, and clothing designers to make it work.

I am one who actually enjoys seeing a senior Gg showing off nice legs, even if she is not very attractive in other ways. I would not go out very much in a really short dress or skirt now, because, at six foot six, 64 yo, despite having nice long legs, i still am read, easily, and i do not want to get a group of guys liking the legs, only to be angered, that i am a guy in drag. Could get ugly.

My wife is 70, as am I. None of our gg friends wear short skirts and most virtually never wear skirts at all. I try to emulate my wife and our age group. Then again, none of these gg friends or my wife ever wear makeup, either, except for special occasions. So I emulate that, too. But, since all my travels en femme are special occasions, the makeup is obviously required!!

Rayleen,
I'm ten years younger but at the moment I'm happy wearing the right skirt when out and about . I admit GGs are wearing them less and less .

I went to donate blood dressed , there were about twenty people in the waiting area , and about 50-50 male to female mix , I had to smile because I was the only one wearing a skirt , I felt fine about the situation , the screening nurse told me I was doing OK. Annoyingly I failed the screening test by three points , I'll try again in three months .

I'm a relative youngster at 65, but I'd say if the venue is appropriate, go for it. In my eyes, the grocery store or the mall are not appropriate places. The seashore is. Picnics with friends are. I guess, I'm thinking casual, social settings with age peers. 25-year-olds do not want to see a 65-year-old in a miniskirt, but 65-year-olds do. ;)

I'd say wearing a short skirt while out and about, at any age, depends more on what you look like from the waist up, than what you look like from the waist down. Great legs will not camouflage a 70 year old face. Around the house wear what you like.

Rayleen
07-02-2018, 04:48 PM
Thanks, love all your point of views . As I read, its very individual in skirts length. I myself like it above the knee.

As some said, it depends when and where to wear a short skirt. Also other countries have different style .

I seen some 80 yrs ladies mingle with younger generation and wear short skirts on tv interviews .

I say as tracii said, if you got the body and the legs, why not.

Rayleen,
That's the art of dressing knowing what is appropriate , Pat says maybe a skirt isn't right for the mall but I find it far easier to wear a skirt and blouse if I'm going to try clothes on , most of mine are on the knee or a little higher , people keep telling me I have good legs so I don't have a problem , I admit I never thought I would go out without stockings on but most GGs if they wear a skirt or dress don't wear hosiery in the summer .

I think age comes into the equation quite a bit here what looks right on a younger person sometimes does not look right on an older person. I prefer skirts that are just below the knee because I do not think my looks would look good in a shorter skirt, but on the other hand it is down to the individual, if you are happy and content with how you look and you have the legs to go with it then sure a skirt above the knee with nice legs is a sight to behold at any time, so in retrospect as they say " If you've got it flaunt it"
Although my avatar shows me in a short skirt that's just for around the house or in my secluded garden I do not think I have the looks to wear a short skirt in town or somewhere like that.

Rayleen

Pat says maybe a skirt isn't right for the mall...

Pat says a short skirt is not appropriate at the mall (for me at 65.) I suppose everyone's short is different. To me, short is mid-thigh or above. (Yeah, my fashion sense got locked in 1968.) To me, just above the knee is "long" and anything between the knee and the ankle is a non-starter. When you get to the ankle, it becomes a "maxi" and I love those. ;)

Well you definitely have the legs to pull it off.

Sadly though, there are many 'girls' who dress totally inappropriate to their age or physical features. I know it may sound mean, but even though they may be comfortable wearing short or revealing outfits, they are not really doing themselves any favours.

After seeing all the 'people of Walmart' videos, it's probably okay to wear whatever you want, as long as you're not exposing any private parts. AFAIK, indecent exposure laws are still on the books in most places.

It depends what I'm doing and the skirt. Going shopping for groceries it may be a jean skirt going to the park or beach a cotton skirt. Anything more than that one just above the knees.

BTW I'm 70.

The ladies 60-85 at my tennis club wear very short skirts for tennis and walk around like 'why not?". Some cranky people who are jealous might feel they have a right to say that your legs have to look like x to do that, but Pat is right, I'm sure- all of us over 65 crowd are quite happy to indulge each other's desire to wear short skirts!

Ceera

Quite likely! I am almost 61 now, and have legs that many cisgender women have complemented as looking much better than theirs! I certainly love short skirts now, and I routinely wear outfits in public that a 20 to 30 year old lady would find fashionable. Unless I get seriously ill, there is no reason to believe that by my upper 70’s, I shouldn’t still be able to pass for a woman in my 40’s, with great legs.

DaisyLawrence
07-03-2018, 03:16 AM
I say wear what you like but if you are uncomfortable in the shortness of skirt and age of body then just wear it over leggings like you would a tunic top. That's what I do. My middle aged wife has what she calls normal dresses and she has short dresses that she wears over leggings, even in her mid fifties she wouldn't wear them over bare legs to any venue. When she was 20 years younger then nothing was too short. Leggings are the best invention for 200 years. :)

To me it is much harder to do a short skirt in more " dressy"
situations . Casual is fairly easy , a short skirt will work in the same situations you would wear shorts
If you have the legs go got it

Sarah Doepner
07-05-2018, 09:55 AM
It sort of depends on your definition of "Short". I wore a dress with a fairly short skirt out the other day and have some skorts that are mid-thigh that may get some wear this summer. But most of the time I dress for my age, body type and the venue I'll be in. There are times when something shorter will attract less attention than an ankle-length maxi skirt.

Busting the 72 and only have around 40 skirts, most at the knee or shorter. A couple too short for a 20 year old. I do wear barely there stay up's. Would have a tough time going out bare leg. I think most women would look better with stockings to cover up a few of those nicks and scratches. Sometimes it is too warm, so than I'll stay in or wait till it cools. Oh to be young!!

Helen_Highwater
07-06-2018, 04:42 AM
For me in public the short answer is no. To a TG venue yes.

It seems everyday that there's a thread about passing that veers towards the blending debate. For me that issue is the decider. Whether or not I had the legs and figure wearing a short skirt, and I define short as being half way up the thigh or above, is going to destroy any chances of blending in the muggle world. TG friendly venues are a different matter but even then it would need to be party time.

One other indicater is while there are many older GG's who have great figures, dressing in short skirts is not something they do unless say involved in a sport. So I say observe and emulate. Learn from the masters (mistresses).

I'm 73 and have been told that I have really good looking legs. I love to wear thigh high nylons and a garter belt, so I have to be careful to wear skirts long enough to provide coverage when in nylons. That said, I love to wear short skirts and do so very frequently when home.

I once drove to a distant city to shop as Donna, was wearing a skater skirt and no nylons, and had to stop for gas along the way. I was wearing this short skirt, sweater top and wedge heels, while I was pumping the gas (in rural Georgia), a couple of rednecks pulled in behind me and as they got out of their car, they began to admire my legs! It really felt good and the comments they were making sounded like a was being accepted as a woman and I really enjoyed the attention! (In retorspect, I considered the safety of the situation, but really enjoyed being viewed as a hot woman - at least for a few minutes!)

I'm 67 and do love wearing short skirts in public- being mindful to stay upright and avoid walking up stairs! It is the same problem that GGs have, and seriously, walking in a short skirt is just as much fun as it looks. So much fun I want to do it all the time- but I found that once I enjoyed it fully I realized that I was really having to focus too much on controlling the view. I then became more comfortably modest and found to my great surprise that just above the knee was still plenty sexy - and just fine for general public consumption.

I had to look at my intent- and realizing I was toying with people's sexual feelings isn't appropriate most of the time. Being a fleeting image passing by is one thing, or being a performance art piece, but hitting the sweet spot where a short dress just feels innocent is where I want to be!

I'll try to show it here- but it is in the demeanor, eyes, body language, etc. T294610the idea is safe and modest- but it is difficult to show in pics!

OK, girls, I confess, since becoming 70, I find I must become a bit more sedate in my clothes styles. Skits that are quite short just do not work for me anymore. I feel ever so much more comfortable in knee lengths, or even just slightly above the kne. I do want to be a respectable lady, right?

Since I live in a small conservative area, I don't go out in public dressed. I am in my 60's and actually don't have the legs for a short skirt, but I love wearing them. My skirts and dresses range from mini to maxi. I prefer my skirts/dresses to be at least above my knees, but will wear the longer ones at times. Wear whatever you wish at home, even your all skin suit, if that's what you wish.

I've never really worn dresses or skirts much above my knee. So I doubt I would personally. Always preferred light and elegant to short and stunning, for some reason. But that's just me.

Ummm, how short is considered short?

I'm 65, but even in guy mode most people are surprised with my age. I probably can pass as 55, or maybe younger. With (maybe it's) Maybelline, I can probably pass for late 40s. Even so, I typically wear skirts and dresses a little above my knee. I also have a lot of dresses that I wear out that are mid thigh. However, above that is definitely in the "mini" range, and I just don't go there. However, the last time I was out, I wore a skort that would easily be classified and mini, maybe even micro mini. I disguised it by wearing floral leggings underneath it, but I wore a somewhat fancy tank top with a completely fishnet back.

I figure that if the sell leggings in XL and women were them out, my outfit was way less objectionable.

I just think, "deal with it!"

Oh! I understand! That is the way I feel about it too. I love knee length, or even below that!

You are nowhere near ridiculous, honey!

Short short skirt? Depends if you have the look and legs for it. Everyone is different... I prefer top of knee length as I don't like to show too much.

I'm 64 and as my profile picture shows I still like wearing short skirts.

I will have to reserve my answer until I reach that age, still another 15 years to go, but if my legs are still half decent then yes in the right setting. Even now, in many settings I would settle for just above the knees.

I'm 60, but I pretty much removed the really short dresses and skirts from my wardrobe about 50 years ago. Exceptions are a casual skirt with flip flops to run to the grocery store and the rare, rare, occasion when some irresistible force takes over. For me, heels take it a little too far. I can wear the same skirt with flats or flip flops and think nothing of it. With heels, though, that changes the whole thing. I wore a very short dress and heels about a week ago and just couldn't get beyond the hotel parking lot. It had been a long time since I'd been out in anything like that, and I just didn't have the nerve.

Beginning in about my early 50's I started making the really short/tight skirts and dresses with very high heels a once or twice a year thing. It was still fun to wear them, and I though I still looked good in them. The older I got, the worse I looked, and fun gave in to fear. Even at 60 and decades of going out, fear is still a thing sometimes.

I recently went to Karaoke with some CD friends with a shorter skirt and tights with boots. That combination seemed to tone down the sexy quotient to a level more compatible with my 70 year old presentation.

Sweetie if those are your legs in the profile pic, you definitely can wear whatever you want. You have great legs.

I don't think I could wear one in public I have only worn one at home once and I don't think my wife care for it much.

I'm a fan of short skirts, though with tights and boots rather than heels, and I have been out in the one in my profile pic, albeit briefly.

I'll need another 20 years before I can answer your question properly though :)

Well the upper 70's seems OK, But I'd rather it was in the 80's for a short skirt! LOL
