This was in my paper yesterday July 5th

This cartoonist has done several over the years,

In one sense the cartoon reminds people that there are lots of us out there which I think is good.

On the bad side it I guess is bad maybe since he hasn't told his wife

Am I reading too much into it ? It is funny !

It's absolutely hilarious. What harm can it do?

Pretty funny IMO.
Does it hurt CDing? Not at all

My vote is it's pretty funny too! I figure it this way....anyone who reads it and doesn't understand it will ask questions. I think that by them asking questions of someone who understands it is essentially good also....but... if they ask an actual crossdresser then it might make him uncomfortable to explain it because "what if they ask how I know all of this" ...which again is a little funny as we all kind of worry about questions like that. So how is that for over thinking it??

Funny and how many on this site are the same way?....
Always funny for a man to dress as a woman,
unless,
he dresses as a woman too much.
Soooo, who's counting?

If we can't laugh at ourselves, who can. Anyone notice the computer screen subject, is the cartoonist trying to tell us something?

I like it, since it's relatable to many CDs.

Wouldn't be shocked if the cartoonist himself was a closet cd. Joking about it is the way some deal with it.

We have to keep a sense of humor and laugh at ourselves. As long as the cartoon is not mean spirited or offensive I have no
issue

I think it is cute. Yes, if you cannot laugh at yourself, then.... This cartoon is rather tame when it comes to cross dressing cartoons. The internet is loaded with cartoon which are not in good taste.

Robbie,
It's harmless enough ! What made me smile is I've just been making a reply to a body shaving problem, now I would say Mr. Porcupine has a real body shaving problem !!

Xenia

It depends on how it's presented. Something where crossdressing is just presented as a thing some folks do, and here's a funny situation that can arise from it, is harmless fun. This is a fine example of that.

I've also seen plenty of examples where crossdressing itself is the punchline, like "hurf durf this guy wears a dress, what a pervy weirdo", which is obviously not OK.

But yeah, as others have said, you need to keep a sense of humor about yourself, as a general rule.

If you look at the first picture it's the front of the dress the rabbit is holding up. Since when does a dress have a V neck in the back n a bow?
I still think it's humorous but if my wife showed it to me she would think it degrading and somehow point out to me how silly CDs are. I think it makes fun of, if you don't care for CDs and humorous if you are a carefree CD or a person accepting of them.

In my family, if we like some one we tend to poke fun at them, or tease them. It's a way of giving attention to the other person. I see it as a positive thing that will help break down barriers over time.

I love that Patrick is looking at Pinterest. There's some great and inspiring crossdressing images on there. Good info, too.

I may be wrong, but I feel crossdressing is a lot more enjoyable if one has the ability to have a sense of humor about it.

Sometimes we start taking ourselves too seriously. I know I do!

Fortunately, this a great place to get slapped around when that happens!
It certainly puts me in my place!:heehee:

Isn't life kind of a big joke on everyone anyway? If u can't laff at yourself every once in awhile you're just not getting the message!

Some things in life are bad. They can really make you mad.
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle. Don't grumble, give a whistle.
And this'll help things turn out for the best....

Aaaaand....

At Easter season around here they often "Dress the cross", drape a purple length of fabric over the arms of a large cross, out front of the church. A running joke is "the preacher was seen cross dressing".

Who would ever expect Dagwood to "equal" his wife Blondie for looks?
Written by Chic Young or his son Dean Young
Still a laugh to be had in a Sunday funny

I’ve given this some thought over the years and from my Midwest perspective, I believe both. For us, they’re funny, because we can identify and have empathy with that brand of humor....but I never hear any comments from my friends about a cding joke, cartoon strip, or cartoon. One example, a friend of mine, told us he wears pantyhose when he hunts. The “teasing” that followed was cruel and not funny. Some have continued to tease him. I don’t know or care what he wears or if he cd, but I think he’s sorry he said anything. I saw a cartoon once showing a laborer with a hard hat and jackhammer. The balloon showed him in a dress. No one got it...I did and smiled.

Haha
Principal Skinner "Oh no! Bart got into the school's cheer closet"
Homer "I'd say he's coming out of the closet"
Haha that always stuck with me. Wonder why :bs:

Robbie,
I think it is very funny, don't overthink the cartoon at all.

I feel that cartoons that poke fun at us does help us feel how others perceive our lifestyle.

Stay positive about any cartoon and you will appreciate them even more.

Even comics of old had crossdressing around our superheroes
Jimmy Olsen was quite adept at crossdressing in emergencies
Such a skill we all should have

The first cross dressing cartoon I ever saw was in a December issue of Playboy. I thought it was humorous but had to keep my mouth shut and stifle the chuckle. The cartoon showed a man in front of a full length mirror donning a dress with the caption of "Now we don our gay apparel!"

One issue we face is educating the public who we are. Most of the negativity comes from (I think) people who have never actually seen a crossdresser, or transgender person. The cartoons posted on here, are not mean spirited, and may actually soften the impact of us on the public, so I'll say this helps. Or at least I like them anyway.

Maybe not in person Steph.
With RuPaul's Drag Race on for it's 10th year, is there really anyway no one is not clued in to a man dressed as a woman.
How heavily advertised is that show across television viewing?
There was Milton Berle on practically every week in drag.
Flip Wilson most certainly was dolled up as Geraldine every week.
Klinger from M*A*S*H* gave us a man in a dress every week.
Bosom Buddies had 2 seasons of the closest we could have of an inside view to our world.
All of this in good fun.
Otherwise we had transvestites as assassins, killers, hookers and whatever else Hollywood could dream up for a man dressed as a woman.

Hi Dana digs sweaters,
I have never seen the TV shows you mentioned. However, I have seen the movies “Some like it Hot” and the CDer motel clerk in “The World’s Fastest Indian”. I thought it was just for entertainment value before I realized people CD in real life.

Most people that I know would tell you that they have never knowingly seen a CDer in person. CDers aren’t on their radar so it’s usually a surprise when they learn there are people, not just the media, that truly CD.

The comics are pretty funny. It’s always good when people can laugh at themselves.

All those comics seemed good natured. Poking fun at things (be it crossdressing or anything else) can also serve to enlighten and bring acceptance.

Hi Char,
Men dressed as women on television and film, certainly seems be very pervasive throughout the modern era.
Add the internet and Kaboom! :)
Many CDers "dress down" in public to blend in and not cause unwanted attention to themselves.
It might be amazing of many CDers go unnoticed by people everyday.
Crossdressing can be a heavy subject for some, but for me growing up, it was simply innocent childhood fun with my sisters.

I think it's harmful but I'm not SJW enough to complain about it and demand that people respect my "safe space"
The male in me just deals with all the negative stigma cartoons and comics portray.

Also I'm very certain the creators are either crossdressers themselves, Or they had no ill intent- That they were just exploring ideas that are wise and witty and came up with crossdressing one night.
The idea that they want to create content that is deliberately trying to demean CDers is a baseless assumption that only an SJW from Tumblr would come up with.

Even if it is harmful, I believe in freedom of artistic expression.
