I went to church dressed, again! I needed gas so I stopped at the station on the main drag, got my gas and went in to get a soda! They did not have what I drink so I left! I went to the closest grocery store and got one! The clerk said, "How are you?" and I replied in my baritone voice, "Fine, how about you?" No response verbally but she tensed up a little and silently handed me my receipt and change! I got in my car and went to church! Pleasantly, at least 5 people remembered me! I think I have found a home! I am still dressed as I type this and it has been a good day! Hugs Lana Mae I went out to get bread dressed! Dressed 8 hours today!

That's great that your church is accepting! (I think I would be burned at the stake in my wife's church hahahahah... they are very traditional.)

Tracii: Thanks! It was great to get out and especially to church!
VS Fan: This church converted on their own by going to the congregation with it as an issue to serving the LGBTQ+ community! The majority ruled and they lost members and accredadations and then gained more members and different accredadations! The person giving the sermon is a gay minister/lay person! (not sure which!) They are very welcoming of our community without be patronizing! (sorry for the spelling!)
Orchid: No going back! LOL
Thanks for your replies, ladies!

So when do you think the local paper is going to ask for an interview? You have moved toward your goals a lot over the past year.

Tracii: It was so nice to find them! Especially in this non-accepting area!
Rayleen: So far so good! LOL
Jamie: I will never tell, but no just used my natural voice like I always do! LOL
Roxanne: There is hope! I am here in bathroom central-NC! No problems so far but have not gone to bad areas! Most people don't pay any attention at all! That is my experience thus far!
Laura: Local paper, ha ha ha ! Never! Yes, have been moving along! Want to do hair removal on hands, fingers and wrists in September, follow with toes and feet, ankles! Nothing definate or planned for hrt! Just taking it as it comes! Besides I heard hair removal hurts more when you are on hrt! LOL
Thanks for your responses ladies!

Lana,

That is so beautiful.
I read into your narrative that your church is a new church for you. It would be interesting to hear HOW you selected that particular church. And if it's your personal local church long attended by "Mr Lana Mae", then that's even more amazing.
Please tell us more about your persona encounter among the congregation. What a wonderful story , for both you AND the church.

Ilene: This is a new church for me! I selected this church because it has a history of acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community as members of their church! I do not feel that my local church (in Sanford) would be any kind of accepting-the one "Mr Lana Mae" attended! The new church is in Raleigh, however there is a church in Cary that might be accepting/just don't care one way or the other that I have attended! Numerous people walked up to me and asked my name and addressed me as such! This past Sunday I had about a 15 minute conversation with someone named Jonathan who has been a member for 15 years, which is longer than it has been accepting! Some members left and some stayed! I have met quite a few who stayed! There is the whole range of ages, too! Oh, and did I mention that it is a Baptist church and my old church is Methodist! Even the local UCC is non-affirming! Affirming being a term used by the churches to show they are LGBTQ+ friendly! I just got an E-mail to make an appointment to speak with the pastor about my beliefs, etc. It is so nice to attend church dressed! Like I always said, "God does not care what we wear as if He wants He can see us naked!" LOL If you need more PM me! Hugs Lana Mae

Lana Mae, I'm so glad that you found an accepting congregation. I am hoping to find one myself. I have only gone to church fully dressed on one occasion,, and that was more than a year ago. Since no one there knew me, I was able to escape any identity crisis.

See Lana? Any church that is a REAL church, properly believes in God, would have no problem accepting you, me or anyone else. In the post on my blog tomorrow, I discuss meeting our new pastor last Sunday and had a conversation where my attire never was addressed (and I looked pretty good, I must say!).

Happy for you!

Janine: Best wishes on your search! It feels so liberating to me!
Kandi: Thanks! I have to make an appointment to see the pastor sometime soon!
Thanks ladies for your responses!

Lana Mae There has been a church outing to a local Presbyterian Church in downtown Harrisburg on the Sunday of Keystone. It is a very LGBT friendly church. In fact the associate pastor is a married Lesbian GG with a 2-year old son.

I've gone there the past two years in a very church-appropriate femme outfit with some other "girls: from Keystone..

I know that you have a long ride home, but you might consider joining us next year.

Steffi- May do that if I make it to the next Keystone! Thanks and thanks for the response!

Nice to hear of others getting a chance to go to Church all dressed up! I've been making it a habit of mine to attend while dressed during my monthly outings, and it usually works out because the particular Church attends to a large transitory congregation (typically workers from the Philippines) in addition to locals, and they see all manner of ladies attending. I'm thankfully just another face in the crowd as long as I don't speak or sing!

Yukihime: As long as just a face in the crowd and being able to attend make you happy, go for it! Best wishes! Hugs Lana Mae
