I own my own business and my standard transportation is a Ford F-150 pick-up. I decided it was time to find something that’s easier on gas. I ended up buying a Kia Niro. It’s a great little hybrid car with lots of features and tech. When some of my employees saw it for the first time, they called it a “girly car.” If only they knew that was a compliment and made me appreciate my purchase even more!:battingeyelashes:

Cheers,

Eva, do you find that when you are driving your 'girly car' people treat you differently on the road particularly compared to when you were driving a pickup??

I hope you didn't trade the pick up in on the Kia.
Back in 2009 I bought a Mustang 25th anniversary model.
V6 with the cold air intake and performance chip, it would roast the tires and cornered like a dream.
Friends called it a girly car and thats why I bought it truth be told.

I'm keeping the truck. Both cars have their uses.

And Tracii - I also have a '66 Mustang Convertible which is fun!

Thats good because an F 150 is like gold as far as work trucks go,there is a huge used market for them.
Lucky you I love the 65 66 Mustangs.
I was more a Mopar person back in the 60s and 70s and have had quite a few muscle cars over the years.

I have had pickups most of my life. A few years ago I had a F250 and decided I need something smaller to travel. I bought a Escape, and one of the guys I work with asked if it came with a skirt. Little did he know.

Eva, I wasn't familiar with that model of car and looked it up. I wouldn't say it was "girly". That is, unless it is pink.

Girly cars in the UK are sometimes referred to as 'hairdressers cars'. I think there is a gay connotation to the phrase, but my son, who is gay, uses it. Mine isn't girly at all, just a mid sized mid range (but uber reliable) Ford.

I think the ultimate girly cars are the Fiat 500, especially the convertible version, and the Beetle convertible. I myself drive a Golf.

I drive a dark blue 2001 VW New Beetle; it is considered a "chick car" in some colors.
It's a manual-shift with super dark window tinting.

Eva, do you find that when you are driving your 'girly car' people treat you differently on the road particularly compared to when you were driving a pickup?? I switched from a regular sedan to a soccer-mom-type station wagon about 3 years ago, and I definitely noticed a difference -- including my own attitude on the road. I was tailgated more, often by trucks, I've assumed they're initially thinking "women driver" or some such, even though I never was 'dressed'. I'm getting a wig soon and driving will be my primary 'out' venue (since my size is too much of a giveaway walking around) so I'm interested to see if I'll be treated different en femme too.

I am furtunate to have a few cars. My one little roadster is often referred to, as a hair dressers car, aka slightly derogetaly term, in the UK, girly car. Being quite small and cute

Having the best part of 350bhp under the bonnet though, she sometimes forgets she is lady.:o

I haven't driven in it enough to know for sure but there does seem to be a different level of "respect"!

Girly cars have seem to be on my mind lately like how awsome would it be to have a pink or purple dodge challenger. A girl can dream i guess

Single parenting 3 kids I learned to love my soccer-mom mini van. The guys at work hated it. It was like a stealth vehicle with a decent V6. I suspect the cops would think “she can’t be going that fast”, as I was racing to get to the day care before closing time.

People will always find a reason to joke about anything. Girly car, butch car, clown car, etc... a car is a car. The only problem is "no car." Enjoy the girly car.

I am always surprised at the significance attached to what type of car you buy.
I drive a cream colored 2008 Jaguar XJ which is a huge amount of fun to drive. Have driven it more or less across country several times and I love being dressed up and setilng into the leather seats for a long drive. I don't believe it has girly connotations but it feels very sensual and sexy to drive it.

I also own a Tundra truck which is very useful but not sexy.

I also have a Lexus ES 330 which Jillian says is a girly car.
Never knew that.!

My Mazda MX5 Miata is often called a girly car - and I agree. I think that I look FABULOUS driving it!

I drive a total soccer mom mobile...Land Rover Discover Sport. It goes well with my occasional soccer mom look!

If it’s a contest though, Marlene and her Miata win. You can’t beat a Miata in a girly car competition. It’s like bringing a knife to a gun fight.

If you're gonna do it, you gotta do it properly. Mercedes SLK or Audi TT, ultimate "girly cars" I reckon ;)

Eva,
It must be nice to have a more " Girly " car . I'm stuck with my Volvo estate car that can pull a decent sized trailer , something I sling all my chainsaws in and fetch a good load of logs , or go to the builders merchant to fetch all my DIY needs .

Years ago, I bought a new little blue Nissan Sentra. A week after buying it, I was walking out to my car, on lunch break. I looked at the car and said "oh crap, it's a girl's car." Then I thought about it and said "oh good, it's a girl's car."

I've had quite a few cars over the years, but mostly Vee Dubs. 2 Mk2 Scirocco's, 2 Golf Gti's, Golf V5, but have moved up to Audi's now. Currently an A4 Tdi but previously I had a gem of a RS4 which met an unfortunate end after only 8 months of ownership :(

A F150 is a great girly car, you just have to dress appropriately for it.

I prefer small cars, right now have a black Nissan Sentra. Did have a white Honda Civic coupe, my daughter in-law thought that was a girly car, has she figured me out yet, I'm not sure. I also had a Jaguar XJ8 but sold it recently so I could afford more clothes.:)

I have a 2014 5.0 Mustang that I dearly would love to have repainted a pearlescent pink, which would match my nails. But that’s probably just a bit much, lol.
