View Full Version : Question for the public CD'ers...

Earlier today I was watching a YouTube video. Basically, the premise was what kind of public reaction (namely, from men) a good-looking GG would get while wearing leggings (as stand-alone pants) that showed off her voluptuous figure.

Yes, obviously I was a bit bored. :heehee:

And while I understand that there are some "fake" videos out there, these highlights seemed pretty legit, to me. (Granted, there was probably also a lot of ho-hum footage that never made it past the editing room, as well.)

But in any event...

While these guys may have instintcually gawked & ogled as the vixen walked by, which is fine & to be expected, IMO -- but a few of them were also taking pics/videos with their phone without her realizing it at the time.

(And the ironic thing is, little did these gents know that *they* were being filmed! )

So, my question to those who crossdress in public...

Do you think that you've ever been filmed / photographed in public, without your knowledge, perhaps because of the way you were presenting? And how do/would you feel about that?

Thanks! :)

I do not believe I have ever been filmed or photographed, in public, without my knowledge. I tend to dress like everyone else so there is no need to single me out as particularly photogenic.

I wouldn't rule it out, but I am highly doubtful.

Now talking about it with someone else, that I wouldn't be surprised.

My first reaction is similar to Tracy's, "Why would anyone want to?", but the truth of the matter is that there are many reasons why we might be filmed, photographed. Those of use that don't pass are, once the "blending" fails, a curiosity, so it's reasonable to expect that there are those that would seek to "document" what they see.
In practice, I've only been aware of it twice. The first time was twenty-some years ago in a casino in Las Vegas. The tourists were equipped with film cameras then, but snap they did. The other was during this year's pride parade, when there were plenty of cameras panning through the crowd. Do I worry that someone would identify me from that? Please... Just another face in the crowd of three quarters of a million faces, many of which were much more interesting than mine.

Really, it just doesn't happen in most of the places I go. I don't hang out at the mall, but will traverse one to get to where I'm going. Once there (clothing or cosmetics stores, etc.) It would be a bit of a breach of social decorum to photograph other patrons. I'm sure it happens, but fortunately, such boorish behavior is rare. The bottom line is that I won't give them that power over me by reacting in fear to that remote possibility

If you go out frequently I would say you have been filmed more than once.
To say you haven't been filmed at some point either by an individual or a security cam you are lying to yourself.
I know I have been but I dress to blend and don't act over the top.
The wilder you dress the better the chances guys are filming you.

Well, there's all that photographing and video recording going on, what with the prevalence of smartphones and people's insatiable need to post anything and everything on either youtube or social media, and then there's "photobombing"...often of the inadvertent kind.

For some reason, teenage GG's seem to have this inexplicable need to take selfies with their BFF's while goofing around in the ladies' restrooms after they've done their business. I was in full-on "Leslie" mode a few years back in a mall restroom fixing my hair (errr...wig) and touching up my makeup when a I noticed a couple of teenage girls near the sinks taking selfies to immortalize their friendship and with the likely intention of posting same to Facebook, Instagram, or the like to share with their friends. There's also no doubt in my mind that I unwittingly became part of the background scenery when those shots were taken.

So...my privacy was compromised here, but they unknowingly got to have a "tranny" prominently featured in photos shared with all their friends. I call it "even". Karma, baby! ;)

I was out dressed at a food court 2 weeks ago.
294170

A large chap with wife and 2 late teen kids, found it exciting and took multiple photos of me.
His wife was upset at his focus of attention and stormed off, he got her message and followed her.
I've no idea what he will do with the photos and he could have just taken a copy from my blog.
I don't care what he does with the photos, heck, I'm fairly public anyway.

But I do tend to walk away from film crews

I don't know, but I think yes. I once saw a guy trying to photogaph me in a street cafe.

A few years ago I was sat in the car at a beauty spot admiring the view when 2 GG's appear and notice me.

Out came the mobile phones, snaping away initially at the view one turned pretending to take a pic of her friend but I could see she was focusing on me.

I just stared hard at her and I think she got the message that I wasn't best pleased by what I considered downright rudeness and bad manners.

Apart from that I've never knowingly been photo'd while out.

Ellbee,
Not think but know it's happened .

My first time out to my social group , I was wearing a full length ballgown to celebtrate thier 4th anniversary , pictures were being taken for internal use on the website but some the appeared in TVChicks without any consulation . They did agree to remove them until permission was granted .

On the second occasion we were at a Xmas party we were sharing the room with other parties we were enjoying ourselves on the dance floor but a GG from our party picked up on some guys from another party taking vidoes and streaming them directly out , they thought it was funny till the GG from our party told them where she would stick their phones if they didn't stop . I personally didn't have a problem , when you accept being in an open situation like that it's almost inevitable it's going to happen these days , besides some of us were dancing with their female partners . Personally I'm not ashamed how I look and being totally out of the closet it doesn't bother me but I did get a talking to from my son about me appearing in Facebook , not thankfully with pictures as far as I know but I deleted my entry anyway because I don't trust social media sites .

To back to the issue of guys looking and wondering what they are thinking . OK some may find you attractive , some may be frustrated CDers wishing they could be in your shoes , maybe some are thinking why can't my wife look like that and some will just be thinking what a **** . I also know they do respect us for having the courage to do it , I've had that comment from several guys . In fact I had to smile at the thought that the men can look but can't touch and the women do look and do touch . They check out your clothes , feel the fabric, maybe tweak you hair and give the makeup a once over .

I've no doubt I have been unintentionally filmed while out, be it on a dashcam, cctv or whatever. Whether anyone has purposely filmed me, I doubt it very much, though it is not an impossibility. I dress to blend so I do nothing to draw attention to myself.

Everytime I dress up in my Victorian dresses and especially when I wear them for a ride on the steam train. Most of the folks show respect and ask before taking a picture, however there are some that don’t. There were a few instances where people would try to guide their kids to pose with me and don’t ask me, in those cases I tend to spin around and walk away or sway back and forth so the picture gets blurred. One lady actually complained to the staff for my friends and I not posing for pictures, the staff member told her that we are customers and if she had asked we would have posed nicely like we do for those that respectly ask. When costumed like that I do expect people to take pictures.
When I dress not in costumed themed outfits, it is quite rare to be photographed I believe. At a fetish event where picture and video taken are not allowed, there was a guy caught and kicked out of the event and had his phone reviewed to delete pictures that he took of me. Apparently to the managers of the event told me that the guy focused the camera on mainly on my legs and butt (I was just wearing a one piece corselette and stockings at the time)

I was at a gas station filling my car wearing heels and girl jeans; the heels were clearly visible when this guy walked by and then out of sight. He then stuck his head between the pumps and grinning said how would you like to be on face book. If he was closer to me and I hadn't been in heels he would have lost his phone. He didn't snap a pic.

I also wonder when I go to WalMart, ever see People Of WalMart on line. Best defense here is to dress to blend just like Traci said.

I guess if we dress out of the norm for the situation, there would be a better chance of attracting attention and getting photographed. As for myself there was only one instance at a CD weekend where I was asked if it was ok to have my pic taken. I try to dress to blend and as such, there isn't much of a reason to take my picture. If someone does, well so be it. It's a chance you take when you're out and about and at this point I really don't care.

Often wondered about this for nowaday girls, I mean everyone has a camera on them now. God only knows how things would have went for me back in high school days when I could easily deny I'd been out dressed, my word against whomever. I suppose, today, it'd just be easier to come out and be honest, for there are no secrets any longer. That in itself would make for happier days as a youth.

Yes, with, against, and without.

With, I’m at the local dirt track with a friend. Her boyfriend was racing. We coming back from the pits when this guy asks me if he can take my picture. I can tell my friend is a bit annoyed. I agreed, and he took the pic.

Against, I’m at the bar playing pool with my friends. This guy walks across the bar and asks to take my picture, I say no. I was having a bad hair day and didn’t feel like having my picture taken. He took in anyway, big mistake. I started crying, my friends immediately wanted to know what was wrong. They confronted him and he apologized. The bouncer ask me if he should throw him out, I said no, he can stay. Oh did I fail to mention that my friend at the track manages the bar.

Without, my best friend and I are doing the final cleanup on a house I was renting. It took a couple hours. We went to the bar afterwards. This marked the end of a chapter as I had also just broken up with my boyfriend I had been living with for a year. So I was wearing a tank top and a jean mini skirt, yes my friend asked why I didn’t wear jeans. While at the house someone took pictures of me and sent them to the owner of the company I work for. I’m out, and I grew up with the people I work for, so nothing came of it.

I've posed for many photos with strangers over the years when asked. I have also been in many photos that people were taking where no one asked permission. I really don't mind either way. Isn't one of the reasons we go out and about in public is to actually be seen by people? These days if you are seen, you are going to get photographed whether you know it or not. If you are going to worry about that, you better just stay in the closet.

Phoebe,
Yes that is a good point and I agree but we don't go out to be abused we still have rights to privacy , I guess we should ask what they wish to do with the pictures before we agree or not .

When out in public there is no expectation of privacy. In Washington State the law allows visual recording in public, but, not audio recording without the consent of the person unless the person is obviously verbalizing in decibels to invalidate the expectation of privacy. I do not believe I have been photographed while en femme. I choose to be out and about when nightfall has come. I suppose I am on security footage. I would not expect those videos to be uploaded to the Internet, but, you never know. When in drab I was at the Viet Nam War Memorial with platoon mates with graphic tee shirts and was photographed by foreign tourists, who did ask for permission before whipping out there cell phones. I am sure crude people snapping pictures of anyone who they felt was unique in some way will be shown around to others and maybe uploaded to the Internet. Just remember you lose the expectation of privacy when in public. However, nobody may use your image for monetary gain. Just look your best when out and about.

If you are out and about in a public place, you can't expect a whole bunch of rights to privacy from photography and/or videotaping.

As Sherry, I've had countless photos of and with me taken by vanillas. That's what I go out in public for!

Vanilla folks aren't interested in taking photos of or with me. But, if they did? Why would I care, I don't have to look at them!:daydreaming:
I've had many taken with other T's. I don't like photos of me dressed or not! So, I try to avoid these whenever possible!:thumbsdn:

All the time, but I know it is going to happen... So you need to make the decision right off the bat, it comes with the territory... For example, imagine if you bought a dog and complained about picking up it's poop.

Oh, I guess I forgot to answer my own question. :heehee:

These days, I have no idea. Not that I'm aware of, anyway. But I'm sure it's always a possibility. Just a dude in women's leggings & a hoodie, nothing that special. Though I do get some looks of all kinds, heh.

Back in my en-femme days? Without a doubt. At least one instance that I later found out, I was at a drag night at a gay club with a few friends. There was a drag competition going on (no, I didn't enter!), so there were some photographers taking pics of the contestants as they performed. Figured nothing of it.

A few days later, I said what the heck, might as well check the club's website to see some snapshots from that night. Lo & behold, I see that they had included some of the crowd as part of some of those pics! And there was little ol' me, sitting on a stool at a counter, front & center, sipping my drink, watching the show.

I was in a couple of those pics, and I was quite prominent. Actually looked pretty cute, too! :battingeyelashes:

At first I was like, OMG! :confused3: But after the initial surprise, I thought it was kinda cool. Besides, not that it really mattered either way, but I was pretty unrecognizable while all dolled-up.

As an aside, a couple years ago I went looking for those pics, as I would have saved copies for myself... Sadly, the club had closed a while back, and their site no longer existed. :(

But anyway... Certainly something to be mindful of, perhaps in a case where someone you don't particularly get along with would want to "out" you with "evidence" to mutual friends or whoever who may not know this side of you. Cuz I could certainly see that happening.

As for perfect strangers, I wonder what they might do with or say about those pics/videos afterwards. :D

Have attended many events where the event had a photographer taking shots for use by the event.

I have had candid.shots taken by a local newspaper while at events. That were published.

I've had people come and request to get a photo. Some even had me sign a release.

I've noticed several taking photos with their cellphones without permission.

It actually turns out better to get the candid shots, if I don't notice the camera. Once I see the camera I start to pose.

I'm tall, and in heels taller.
I want a believable illusion and photo evidence, revealed later allows me to critique myself and determine areas for improvement.

Cellphones are currently apart of every day life.
If you don't want your picture taken...
- Don't go out while en femme.
- Keep your doors closed and locked at all times.
- Keep your windows covered.
- Live in fear of being seen
And it just goes downhill from there...

Forgive me, I'm not trying to turn a mountain into a mole hill, or belittle or make fun of those people who live with that mountain. I have my areas of social anxiety; concerns about what other people think of me and the way I am presenting. It can be crippling.

I love positive encouragement while out. It helps to reduce my anxiety.

Ultimately, if you're going out, expect it to happen.
Known, unknown, with permission or without.
Own it, regardless of attire.
Be you, and enjoy life.

Often filmed in public, by security cameras, covert filming in public has probably occured and one I did catch out I walked up behind her friend and made rabbits ears above her head as I went behind.

I did say hello dear to her in a deep voice as I went by.

Almost every time I go to Wally World. 90% of the time, they try to be sneaky about it. Sometimes they ask, if they can take one or one with me. I have never checked the WW site for pics but I feel confident I am in there.

It goes with the. territory especially since I make no attempt to "pass".

People of Walmart is probably the best reason anyone could cite if they were urging a CD friend to make her first foray out in public. No matter how bad you think you look, you can always find someone who makes you look like Liv Tyler on the Walmart site. 294680
