Yesterday was the start of the 2 week festival called Folklorama. I tend to take in Folklorama in both regular guy mode and in crossdressed mode. I went with a couple friends to the Mexican pavilion, one friend which is also a crossdresser and the other being gg. My gg friend (my life partner’s mom) and I wore dresses, pantyhose and heels while my crossdressing friend wore cargo shorts, t-shirt and sandals. My cd friend is so focused on blending in and mentions (or brags) often about her passing, where as I don’t worry about at all.
I entered the pavilion a few minutes before my friends as the doors opened before they got back from the restroom. There was a fellow greeting and pointing the way to the event area. I rushed into the seating area to reserve good viewing seats for us. As my friends found me, I noticed that the cd friend was quite upset. It turned out that she got “sir’d” by the greeting fella. I broke out in a giggle as he greeted me with the “ma’am” that my cd friend tends to highlight every time she talks about her ability in blending in and passing. She got more frustrated as she tried to wrap her mind on how I could have got “ma’am” and she didn’t. She does present very well with her natural looking make up skills, body contouring, mannerisms, and feminine movements. Where as I, probably not. I told her that I’ll trade her my “ma’am” for the “sir” if she stops teasing me of always wearing pantyhose and heels when I get dressed up!

Maybe she would have been "ma'amed" if she had been wearing a skirt rather than cargo shorts?

I'm confused, Chantal. Wasn't he referring properly to the gender she presented?:daydreaming:

I temporarily had a TS friend that gave me grief about my style of dress. Needless to say, it was over pretty quickly. People can be as blendy as they want, I will never give up my classic style as I have zero motivation to wear clothes that I don't want to. Savour your victory, Chantal!

I agree with Sherry, if you're going to wear cargo pants........ :-)

She was presenting as a woman. The sandals and cargo shorts were obviously women style. The cargo shorts were body hugging (well tight on butt and legs) unlike the loose styles which could be unisex. But then again, they were not as obvious as a dress or skirt and heels!

Victoria, I may check out both of those this week as well. How were they?

Chantal,
I guess your friend will just have ride with it , to me it's a bonus but I admit I haven't had a SIR ! Maybe you were a little inkind , she was obviously not expecting it but it also depends how much fun she gets out of you at your expense . Tit for tat comments do wear thin , in the end someone does get hurt especially if you've had a bad day .

The Scotland pavilion was good. The dances was gool
And the food rocked. Love the bag pipers.

The Japanese pavilion was a blast! The Taiko drummers were amazing! I would go again if it wasn’t 3 hours a drive to get there. Also the food is good. Try the matsuri dog.
