So I had to travel for work yesterday to the office with around 10 people I directly work with and quite a busy building. I have already told my boss about my wearing of skirts in case there was any issues with me going to my local office (where I work with no one directly, but a nice change of scenery from working from home). I talked with my wife about me going dressed and she told me to go ahead and pack a skirt. I stopped on the in-laws on the way so I wore shorts going out since I didn't want any issues about a skirt (even though they know). After that I changed into my skirt at the first rest stop. Later on I stopped at a rest stop for a bathroom and still had anxiety about it but it is getting less and less. I have only ever gone out skirted once before. Traffic wasn't bad and I was about 30 minutes early so I decided to go for a walk on a pedestrian bridge walkway over a river since I never get a chance to do it the other times I travel here. This place was packed, in my 20 minute walk I easily saw over a hundred people and no issues. It was a little hot so I had to blast the air conditioning to cool down again.

At the office, I go a meeting with coworkers and no issues. Between the meeting as we gather to head out for lunch, it becomes a topic of discussion but it was very tolerant discussion. Went out for lunch. Afterwards I have a meeting with boss (which turned into a walking meeting where we walked through several buildings to go see a few new displays about the company's history and a round of Foosball. Had a meeting with my boss's boss after that. Worked in a coworker's office for two hours, said goodbyes and headed out. Just felt like a normal day here but in a skirt :)

On the way home I stopped at a goodwill looking for skirts on the way home. The goodwills near me sorts by size and skirts are always $5 (or half off if the tag is a certain color that week). This goodwill was dirty, sorted by color, and prices for skirt seemed to range from $8 to $20, and about a quarter had illegible tags. One skirt had the original store tags on it that it was on clearance for $3 and they were asking $8 for it. I didn't even make it all the way through the skirts before deciding to leave. At least it makes me appreciate the several decent goodwill stores around me.

Stopped for a late dinner about halfway home. Funny thing: when I was coming out of the bathroom there was a guy heading in and he looked up to make sure he was going to the right bathroom (didn't seem like he was being mean).

All in all, around 16 hours being out in a skirt, granted much of it was driving (which I have only done a few times already).

That's totally awesome! I pray for a world where there is no judgement for such things as what anyone wears. Maybe someday ….sigh...

Certainly a day to remember. So what does the future hold? Will going dressed become the norm? I can see that if you alternated drab/dressed to the office that could cause confusion.

Joyce - I wish for that world too!
Helen - Well I only go into this main office usually around twice a year. If it was up to me, I would wear a skirt every time now. My biggest barrier is my wife who is uncomfortable with it beyond the house/yard. Several weeks ago she said it was ok for me to wear a skirt to my local office but when I came home that day she said it bothered her all day. Which is why it was kind of surprise for me she told me to pack the skirt and wear it if I felt comfortable doing so. And she is ok with me keeping a few skirts at my local office to change into when working there since I have an office with locked door. The other thing is I usually travel with a coworker (he was out of town this week so he didn't go this time) and that means about 10 hours in the car together and I am not sure if he would be comfortable with it. I have to go back in about a month so I guess I will find out soon enough :)

I also love to wear a skirt.
But unlike you, I do not leave the house wearing a skirt.
I wish I could have worn a skirt to work, but being in Construction,
that would never happen.

A very brave thing to do in my opinion.

I hope it all goes well for you in the future.
