This Wednesday I am going to a VA mental health appointment. I am not exactly sure what all the specialist will discuss with me but I feel part of it will be about my feelings on my crossdressing, especially since I mentioned it to a PA during my last physical appt a couple of months ago when I mentioned it to her. She is also the one who said, when I told her I don't wear a bra cause I don't have anything to fill one up, that she would be glad to help in that area.

All should be good with the VA people, they have worse to deal with and they do lend a sympathetic ear.

First of all, Lynn my sister, I appreciate your service to the nation and that you wore the uniform.
I am equally pleased the VA is prepared to help you with any gender issues or mental health concerns. (For some reason it bothers me to lump our gender dysphoria under "mental health", like there was something wrong with our "mentality")
There are veteran members in my TG support group, and the narratives about VA help have radically differed from girl to girl. Some are heaped with every treatment they can use, and some are rendered begging for help. I hope that your VA experience goes well once you get beyond the initial screening.
Most of all, be at peace. You are doing the entirely correct thing by speaking with a counselor. Good luck.

I'm thinking you refer to Veterans Affairs? If so, cding should be not a surprise to them!
Any of us which have been through the hell of war reserve the right to have Peace, Tranquillity and Beauty now!

Good luck with your VA appointment. You made me think of my own thoughts of getting breast implants at my later age, if it was worth the pain so late in life. But I came up with an 'altered' thought about 'dying with my boobs on'. LOL I hadn't thought about the VA being helpful for this.

It may be surprising to many in the general population, but, the VA does have a health care program for transgender women. Just "Google" LGBT Veteran Health Care. A fact sheet should pull up. www.patientcare.va.gov/LGBT/docs/va-pcs-lgbt-factsheet-transgender-female.pdf
