“You look like all the other girls”

Went for a hike with my disapproving wife today. I was wearing tights to stay warm in the early morning chill. We started down the trail when she said I looked like all the other girls hiking in their tights. I could only wish I looked like any other girl. I think she said it to embarrass me but I took it as a compliment. This could be my go to fall hiking ensemble from now on. Now to work on the more noticeable gut while wearing tights.

Wear a long top to hide it (the gut) thats what I do.
Pretty hard to hide mine these days but I feel better with a long top.

Not only that but all the other guys are starting to wear colorful sports leggings, too. Hopefully your wife will realize that the distinctions are fast disappearing.

Good point Daisy! I definitely think of your wife’s comment as a back handed compliment and I would enjoy it if my wife said it to me. I may have responded saying that is the goal. Crissy

My favorite part is her use of the word “other” suggesting that I was part of the group of girls wearing tights. Now to get a pair of capris tights.

If your wife is "disapproving", I would say she meant it as an insult, not a compliment. At least she did go out in public with you dressed that way, she could have refused. You could have responded with "No, I would need boobs to look like all the other girls." I wonder how she would have responded to that?
