Was eating dinner with a guy friend and I was in 50/50 mode so it was obviously two guys.
We talked for a while had our dinner then said it was his birthday.
I wished him happy birthday and the waitress must have overheard himLOL
So after dinner she came by with a piece of cake for him and two forks ................OOOMG what was she thinking???
He got a big laugh out of that because he is straight and knows I'm gay.
I paid for his dinner as a present and the waitress said you two are such a cute couple as she went to run my card.LOL
He was so cool about it and said mistakes happen.
I was tempted to grab his arm and walk out with my head on his arm !! LOLOLOL
I didn't of course.

Some straight friends of mine all males five in all were visiting a Daytona car gathering.

They hired a van and stayed in various motels on their tour.

Nearly always they were picked as gay.

Hi Tracii,
Great story, you always handle those types of situations well. Sounds like you both had a good time and are good friends.

Tracii, I always gravitate toward your posts because you're so entertaining, you know how to write, your comments are truthful and matter-of-fact and there's always a good story.
And that's certainly a good story told well.

Thanks Carla.
One of those old friends I came out to several years ago.
He is a good person that I would do anything for.

Traci,

Thankfully things have moved on greatly buy isn't strange than for most of us who are hetro if someone thinks we're gay that we're moved to correct them. We don't want to be thought of, "That way". I suppose it's a measure of just how societal norms have been ingrained in us over the years.

I hope I'd respond as your friend did and say nothing. As there's nothing wrong in being gay why react to it. I suppose it's having the courage of our convictions.

Thanks for the story, it is a lovely tale well told. Glad you had such a nice time.

I liked the fact your friend took it in stride. There really is a downside with this story. It lays with the waitress. If she perceived you are gay, which you do state you are, then she is assuming two males dining together must be a gay couple. The inference is being made that your friend is also gay. Too many people think gays have only gay friends, and, straights have only straight friends. No difference than people believing all cross dressers are gay. They would have flunk Logic 101 in college.

Gay is good ! It's a "settled"label. And the waitress made a "judgement call" in a nice way ! After all your gayness is toward the effeminate as she saw it and called it. So,did you feed one another desert? It is ok,you know !

Ro it was HIS birthday cake and he did eat it all. I wouldn't have taken a bite anyway I'm not a double dipper LOLOL.
He told his wife and she laughed and said she wished she had come along.
His wife is a real hoot to hang out with.

I have seen couples share cake, and I have seen girls share cake, but weird that men don't. But better to have too many forks then too few in case you were sharing.

Yeah I never liked sharing food in that fashion. My fork does not need to be in their food LOL
It looked good but I don't need to fall off the vegan diet wagon.

Great story and your vegan !!

My doctor suggested a nutritionist to lose weight and she suggestion a vegan diet.
No red meat at all maybe a small bit of chicken every now and then.Mostly veggies with tofu for added protein.
I have actually not minded it so far but last check up showed I put on 28 lbs since Sept.
Not what I was expecting I can assure you.
She claims its my metabolism adjusting but I'm not so sure she knows what she is doing.
I have heard of people gaining on the raw vegan thing so maybe she is right.

Traci I didn't lose any weight when I went vegan but my skin disorder started to regress and no longer itched . So that's reason enough to stick to it . What made me lose weight [30 kilos] was not eating so much tough at the start but you soon get use to it . And oddly the less I ate the more energy I had .

Oh yeah for sure Georgia you must have been allergic to something in your food but I'm happy you had that to clear up.
My issue is my medication it makes me stay hungry and sometimes it gives me headaches and the only way to get them to ease off is eat something.
I seem to be one of the rare people that medication does that way as a side effect but it works great for my medical situation.
Kind of a catch 22.

Tracii. Congrats on losing 28 lbs. I'm sooooo happy for you. However, make sure your diet is NOT affecting your overall health.

Georgia K

Traci yeah that really is a catch 22. I've never heard of that reaction to medication before

Adelaide I didn't lose 28 pounds I gained it going vegan.
Depakote is the medication I am on Georgia and its side effects are known to cause people to gain weight just like Prednisone and a few other medications.
For me its not been just a little weight its been a lot in the last 3 years.

Sounds like an accepting waitress even if she had the wrong idea. As far as diet goes, doctors don't all agree on what's best. But they all seem to love prescribing meds.

Ressie makes a good point.
Modern times. The interweb.
Waitress is accepting. That is a good sign.

Tracii G

Yes the waitress was just being nice as most of them are in my experience.
Around here acceptance and tolerance are pretty much the norm so no complaints from me.
Ressie seizures can be rough, taking a medication to reduce the chance of of having one is what I have to do so I have to live with its side effects until I can get off this med.
It is the reality for now.

cute story. While I am not on an official vegan diet, I am slipping more towards it. After the 1st, my doctor will let me start back on going to the gym. My DR had told me "No Gym" for 6 week until I got my rib cage healed up a bit. Was in a car crash on Dec 15. My car was T-boned on the passenger side while going around a traffic circle.
