Hi all, time for a not-so-serious thread :)

I keep getting mixed reports from women about waxing, specifically, does it actually decrease / slow the hair regrowth?, does it thin the overall amount of body hair you will grow back?, does it make hair grow back in stronger like shaving can?.

I figure a forum full of trannies will know this :). I just hate shaving my chest and generally less than 8 hours after shaving the subble is back, kinda hurts the femme look.

TIA!
Dawn

Hi Dawn,

My only experience is with my legs and arm pits, I have not done my chest yet. Both legs and pits I use a chemical on, Nair. I have only tried waxing on a past GG friend and it was only partially successful for her. It got most of the hair off but not all of it. I can not say if it decreases or slows the growth of hair though. As far as using a chemical goes I can tell you that for the day you use it and the next day it is great. Then the hair starts to grow back and you can feel some stubble, not much but you can feel it. For me if I use it once a week and that is enough for me. Others may have different hair growth and may feel differently about this, all I can tell you is what it is like for me. Not sure if this helps.

Nothing in waxing, or Nairing, or epilating effects the rate of growth of body hair. It just squirts out of its little hair maker under the skin at the same old speed. The perceived difference from shaving is the hair has a sharp edge from the blade and thus feels nastier. The hair ripping out methods, the hair has soft edges that make it feel less nasty.

Of course if the hair is ripped out, it can take an extra day or two for it to pop out of the skin. That's if you're lucky. If unlucky, the hair can't find its way out and will curl up beneath the skin making a little red spot of ingrown hair.

Naturally all the hair remover manufactures will claim they stop growth, or it will last for weeks, or one jar will do you for months. Buyer beware.

In my experience I don't think waxing will make any difference at all in the amount of hair that grows back. It will take longer to grow back though since it is pulled all the way out.

Waxing will hurt like hell though.

I don't think shaving will make hair grow back any thicker either. The only two things that I think will make a difference in the amount of hair you have are genetics and hormones.

Wow, I never thought of it that way, so thats why nair'ing makes the hair grow back soft.

For me if I use it once a week and that is enough for me.

Aren't you worried about long term damage to your skin by using Nair that regularly?, that stuff stings when I use it on me, works very well but its not comfortable, and im sure thats your skin telling you something ;).

Thanks for the info ladies

I waxed my chest, belly, arms, and legs about 3 months ago and while it has grown back it is much thinner then before. I also went in for laser hair removal on my face and learned a bit about human hair growth.

This is "as I remember it" so I may be off in spots.

Human hair follicles grow hair in three phases during the year. Each phase activates a separate batch of follicles.

When one shaves they cut off all growing hair at the skin's surface leaving all phases to continue growing.

When one waxes or plucks all three phases of hair are removed and only one phase immediately begins to regrow. This is why waxing _looks_ like it has reduced the amount of hair. Given enough time however (about a year) and all three phases will have grown out and you will be just as hairy as before.

The same is true for the hair thickness, as each set of follicles starts a new growth period, if a hair is still in the follicle, it will produce a thicker hair shaft.

By continually waxing every 3-4 months you can reduce the body hair to only a single phase of growth with fairly thin hair shafts.

Having said all that waxing only provided about a week or two of smooth skin before the prickles returned.

Hope this helps

Hi Dawn

The Nair has never been a problem for me. Maybe my skin is less sensitive than others but it has never bothered me. I don't think using it once a week is a big deal either. An old GG friend used at least once a week for at least 25 years and as far as I know it had no ill effects on her.
