DTs. Deep Thinkers.

Few here seem to watch any TV or are reluctant to admit it.

"Reality" TV shows (of every imagineable flavor) are everywhere. Given all the "bickering" that goes on at these very Forums concerning "proper presentation" and definitions, could any network be able to produce a Reality TV program that would "help the cause"?

Anyone here willing to volunteer to be on one?

What if they offered you 5K for say... 2 weeks of filming?

Make any difference?

. . . a Reality TV program that would "help the cause"?

Good example of an oxymoronic statement.

They tried with lost in transition. Not really great. They tried with she's a lady. Fun but didn't make it. They are trying with Jazz, and some others, but there is no enough interest for commercial success.

Hell-o Wild,
I don’t think I’d sign up for that one. You should ask DocSherry how that works out.
There are a few shows out there, but they’re not really of a CD related reality.
Transcendant is a show filmed in S.F. that follows a group of trans girls that work at AsiaSF, which is
a restaurant/club that has a transgender wait staff who will preform lip-sync throughout the dinner service.
I Am Jazz is another current show that is more focused on the trans youth population.
I know there are more, but none that I know of are focused solely on CDing.
You don’t say if you’d be interested in the job. Are you signing that contract?
Much Love,
Kristyn

I'd definitely be up for doing a TV show.

I’d love to have the cameras follow me around the courthouse, into the holding cells, watch me try cases, I lead a very Un boring life. But getting the media permissions would be a nightmare for whoever wants to do it.

Tell TLC to give me a call.

Reality TV is anything but that LOL.
I haven't watched TV since 2008 and I don't miss it one bit.
Nothing on there worth watching.
I have two friends that had reality shows and both said it was a mistake.
I have another friend that played characters on the show Lost. I have never watched Lost I met him thru a guitar forum of have been on for 20 years.

Reality shows r rarely that! They r scripted to be entertaining. Or, to get u to be entertaining. They also don't pay u to appear unless you're in SAG, have an agent, and have acting experience that they have seen and want. They DO pay for any and all expenses involved in your appearance. But, they aren't interested in "your story". Only the sensational, juicy, bits. If there aren't any? They have no interest in u!

I was offered to appear on an East Coast show some time back. They would fly me in and out, pay for my hotel, all transportation and meal money. It was in front of a live audience and I didn't like the direction that could go. Because I'm not interested in making dressers or maskers look weird. Past media interviews painted me that way. So, I passed. They asked another T masker that I know. I watched a replay of it. Atho, the host and audience were sympathetic, I was glad it was him, not me.

So Wild has asked “What should it look like?”.
Can we get a group idea of what we as a group might see as a fair representation of our CD community? What would it take for you to unveil your life in front of the cameras?

Well Hell On, I think that what would happen is that we'd all gather in a hall, it'd have to be a hall to be big enough, we'd all be dressed however we were comfortable, the cameras would start to roll and we'd sit there and bicker and nit-pick for the first few minutes, then silence would fall on the hall as the first ad break happened, then the red light would come on again and we'd all start bickering and nit-picking again until the next ad break, then silence again, and this is how it would go on for the full hour, for all 26 episodes of season 1, and all 26 episodes of season 2, and seasons 3 - 50, for it would be a much watched show, even Vanna White would tune in to get dress ideas. But, no, it wouldn't be like that at all, it'd be on BBC1 so there wouldn't be ad breaks so we'd be able to bicker an nit-pick uninterupted for the whole hour :)

Knowing US TV producers and the way reality shows are it would be full of fake drama and in the end make us all look bad.

BTW: I hate reality shows, I watch TV to escape reality.

"Say Yes to the Dress for Cross Dressers!"

That's the one I always hoped for, but I know Stacey would never go for it.
Or "Say Yes To the Dress - CD Style" ... I'll volunteer.

"Reality TV" shows are anything but reality and it surprises me that anyone actually watches and believes them. But no, I would not appear in one for money or not.

Reality show - well that is not correct.

Real gets left on the cutting room floor by the editor.

Remember the company are in it to make money not display the truth.

You will get some bits of reality but not all.

actually turned down a chance on TLC in Oct., the show was "this is life live", as i passed up on it i posted about it here if anyone would want a chance at it but i think it broke a rule

the producer was martin foster if i remember correctly, it sounded like it was going to be tasteful but im still half in the closet  told him if he ever wanted to do a "life as" piece i would certainly collaberate with him :D so thats a leed....

oh and i watch TV, hate the reality shows and dont watch them, well i like the singing and talent ones.....but not the others....
