I was so looking forward to going out tonight, so when my friend called to say she was not feeling great and wasn’t coming out to play I was disappointed but after a while I thought why not still go out ..just me ....alone...

On a Saturday I guess eating out for one is quite unusual...certainly all the other patrons are in groups or as couples so I have chosen a table outside it’s a pleasant evening not hot but I always prefer the cool anyways...

Have enjoyed the meal and I am now awaiting coffee..it was nice but obviously not the same as sharing the night with another but hey that’s life I guess...

Nervous...yes probably slightly more than normal...but I think we all should push our comfort zones from time to time and I am pleased I did not take the easy option out xx

Nothing wrong with quiet reflective time, even when out and about :) Good for people watching, too.

Please share more details!

Jessica,

In my work life I travelled a good deal often staying away from home. My SO thought that it must be nice to eat in restaurants that often but I had to say, dining alone is not all that exciting. It becomes just another meal, a way of filling the evening.

Yes, you can feel a little self conscious sat alone enfemme in an eatery. I've dined in places as diverse as McDonald's through to decent restaurants in 4* hotels. Being dressed does add to the experience and it certainly doesn't feel the same as any of those work meals but being able to share good conversation while savoring well cooked dishes has to raise the bar.

Jessica,
It becomes par for the course , doing jobs and errands alone and having a coffee or a meal .

I personally don't mind as there's no one to tell me I've done the wrong thong or said the wrong thing , as for eating alone I often get into conversations with other diners , often couples sitting alone struggle for conversation so are quite relieved that someone has taken an interest in them . So many these days have their heads buried in their mobile phones , I'm sometimes saddened to look round a dining room or cafe and see so many people with their heads down scanning their phone totally oblivious to the people sitting round them .

I've been out dozens of times alone and it was always a good night out. My few cross dressing friends all lived quite a distance from me so it was only once in a while I would get together with one of them and I didn't want to limit my excursions to only times when I was with someone else. I dined out, went to the casino, did my grocery shopping and even took day trips dressed and by myself. many times I wasn't really alone (in a sense) because I was able to converse with other patrons which quite often led to some very interesting conversations.

There us nothing wrong with going out alone or eating out alone. A time to relax, look around, and enjoy not having be thinking of another person or persons. Everyone should have some alone time now and then. It doesn't/shouldn't say anything about you that you happen to be alone. It's no ones business whether or not you are alone or with others. Sherrii

I prefer going out solo. It’s how I’ve met so many people and have so many friends.

I think it is because you are more approachable when you are by yourself.

Saturday is like date night. Next time go someplace more social. It doesn’t have to be a bar, it could be a restaurant with a counter, sit there.

I have friends that put on karaoke. A couple nights a week they are at restaurants. I have gone many times. It’s fun and entertaining.

Teresa, Yes with phones now I’m not ever really alone. I carry two, the company phone and my phone.

Flying solo after you regularly go out with company can be a little overwhelming, as you realise you are the centre of attention instead of it being split up between a group.

It becomes a very different adventure. :-)

Being single I occasionally dine alone as a break from the ordinary. I have found that while sitting at the table somewhat off to the side and glancing around at others I just enjoy being at ease in the company of the muggles doing what we all must do...engaging sustenance. It also helps to reinforce being on my best behavior and table mannerisms, holding the utensils, size of bites, number of chews etc...and I get to show off my nails a lot. Sometimes you may even get extra attention from the waitress with small talk if shes not too busy I even had a gentleman join me once at a diner on a rainy day, I think I posted that on here somewhere awhile back.

Glad you were able to follow through, but I confess to not having reached the point of going solo. Too much trepidation and not enough confidence!

Maybe, Just maybe, I will get the nerve to go it alone. My presentation presently is not good enough to sustain under a solo flight. (said jokingly) I need someone to drag down with me. Maybe my new hat will help.
I wish you all the best of wishes and maybe soon, I will be following in your footsteps.
