I was watching the TV show Swat the other night. Part lf the plot was about a terriost threat to a Pride like event. In one scene a transgender male. as a complete female is featured. Was really well done a positive as a whole. The whole theme of the show was about acceptance. Did any of you see it?

I saw the show and thought it represented the community very well.

Alice, I also saw the show and thought it was great. It was clear that the writers, director, actors and crew "get it". If the character you speak of was the tall woman advising the Mayor, I must say she was really great great. I had to rewind to get another look - She geally came across as a woman with NONE of the sterotypical crap that is all too often associated with the T community. I'd bet heavily that she is one of us. Most importantly, nothing was done to draw attention to her as being trans -- nothing. She was portrayed as just a woman doing her job.
Best to all,
Rhonda

My wife and I watched the program. It did show transgender men and women in a positive light. Also, the show showed the haters in a negative light. Be assured the haters are not going away. It also had a theme of group self protection against haters.

I saw that and the topic was handled excellently. The basic theme was acceptance. As the SWAT team was protecting the LGBT community. The show has always been one with various acceptance themes. As one woman on the team is bi-sexual. The son of one of the commanders is Gay, they spend some time on repairing that relationship, and I think the discussion with the Transgendered woman, helped him with that. At least helped opening up dialog.
The general SWAT theme is a macho oriented theme. It is good to when shows like this demonstrate it is OK for macho men to be accepting. Nothing was presented as freaky or unusual. The LGBT community was portrayed as normal people, which we all are, just normal people.
