To day was a big day for me. it was the first time I went out enfemme to a movie. it was very exciting for all the right reasons. After some fear it went away and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I have finally knocked down the door. Monique

Monique,

Yep going to the movies can be a little scary but every time I've done it I've always been treated just like any other customer. Once you're in your seat, the lights go down and you can sit and enjoy the film.

Just don't do what I did once many years ago. Sat there watching the film I decided to open the bag of Maltesers (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maltesers)I'd bought from the counter. Well, the bag ripped open, the Maltesers went everywhere and could be heard bouncing down to the front of the theatre. I could hear people all around me having a giggle at my expense.

You are lucky and brave. I am doing a lot just going to a drive through.

That’s on my list of things to try. Congrats on having the guts! Not sure I’m there yet.

Well done Monique,

Some of my earliest forays were to the cinema, and it makes a good starting point as interactions can be small (especially if using automated ticket machines). The second time I went I followed a couple out at the end and the husband, in an ebullient mood turned to ask what I thought and I could only mumble a reply.

Monique,
Well done , I found it a very enjoyable experience . I was so taken with the story line that I'd forgotten how I was dressed until I reached down to get something out of my handbag and my hand brushed against my stockings . On both occasions I've had lovely conversations with neighbouring members of the audience before the start and each time I've been accepted as female without any problems .

I can't believe with all of the response that no one has asked the question What movie did you go see? Was it a chick flick?

Whooo hoo! Congratulations lady! It is a big step, but so wonderfully ‘normalizing’, to just go see a movie as you are. I still fondly recall the first few times I went to a movie en-femme, accompanied by my supportive daughter. It was such a blast! What’s next? Fine dining? Going to a sporting event? Mall shopping on a busy afternoon? Whatever it is, enjoy yourself to the max.
