Moving on with these firsts!
A man actually held the door open for me! He was probably in his late 30's or early 40's! I was at the new endo to give them the paperwork I had filled out! I know I do not pass but I try to blend! It felt so nice! It is my first and I know many others have gone on before me with this but it is my first and it feels good! Hugs Lana Mae Also a man putting gas in his car engaged me about the price of gas and I used a soft version of my male voice and he just continued with the conversation! Another good day!

I don't go out in vanilla land dressed if I can help it, Lana Mae. Maybe people r different in NC than SoCal?

But, I can't recall a day that men and women HAVEN'T held a door open for this old man!

Lana Mae,

Yep, when it happens it's a nice feeling. If nothing else it's good to know chivalry isn't dead and people can still show good manners.

Lana,
It's just good to read good manners aren't totally dead .

I still hold doors for young mothers struggling with kids in pushchairs but I have had my sahre now of doors being held for me .

I hope you cheerfully thanked him. Interactions with the muggles are great, soon you may even start some off the cuff conversations without even thinking about it.

Regardless of how I am dressed I still hold doors for other women, my elders, or any time I feel that a door needs to be held. Even offer help with chairs, etc. as needed. To me it is just the natural thing to do. And when out dressed (rarely) I appreciate and enjoy the efforts of others toward me.
I think it might because of the way we old birds were brought up.
We are relics of another era.

I'm a door holder open type too.
Had a police man hold the door for me once in girl mode.
I'm glad people are still nice.

Doc: Occasionally someone will hold a door, but mostly it is more like a hand off!
Helen: What I see when I am out is that most people have manners and are polite!
Teresa: Generally, I will hold the door for anyone regardless of gender or whatever! This is my first actually held for me while dressed! Usually as above it is a hand off!
Allisa: Yes I thanked him very much! The man at the gas pumps started a conversation about the price of gas and carried it on after hearing my voice! I have conversations with women about nail polish and earrings that I have initiated! It's just me being me!
Alice: Like I said, it is mostly like a hand off and not held in both genders!
Leslie: I generally hold the door for everyone! Yes, I am one of the old relics as well! LOL
Tracii: Yes! Manners are not dead yet!
Thanks for your responses ladies!

It is good to see there are a few nice people in this world.
Being Handy-caped with a walker, I often have people get the door for me.
It is truly nice to see, and I thank them a whole lot.

It is great to have someone hold the door, especially if it appears that it is because you are blending well, or maybe even passing.
Yesterday as I approached the door to a store, a gentleman held the door for me and the lady entering in front of me. As he stood there he said to us, " I am blessed today to get to hold the door for two beautiful ladies." I suspect that the 'beautiful' part was out of politeness, however the reference to 'two ladies' made my day.

Lana Mae, My mother would bitch me out if she knew I did not hold a door for a lady, so I always do. I'm glad someone held the door for you.

Old habits die hard, I have been known to hold a door open for a lady when I am dressed.

I do get a look sometimes when I do that.

Miss Joann: Yes, it really is!!!
Rader: I generally hold the door for others regardless! Generally, I get it as a hand off! Actually having a door held for me, I could probably count them on my fingers and toes!
Gracie Rose: I have not had anything that grand just this man's smile!
Jamie: I always felt that it was just polite and something that should be done! Good manners!
Beverly: I too have held doors while dressed for women! At the endo, when leaving I held the door for a couple and got a thank you maam from the man! Force of habit!
Bridget: Me too!!!
Leslie: Maybe, The "firsts" Lady! LOL
Thanks ladies for your replies!
