Well Darlin', as a southern girl, I tend to present myself as "girl" (regardless of age).. If I must be formal, I would say I'm a "southern lady". But I don't mind if a gentleman refers to me as "gal" as in, "She's a hell of a gal".

Now that I live in a border state, I tend to get myself in trouble now and then because my southern influence automatically causes me to refer to women as "gal" or "darlin'" - it's just an innocent term of endearment but it sometimes causes these liberated yankee females to bristle!

I think I prefer young woman, girl sounds a bit too young for me, but if you look at my picctures, I see a young woman looking back!!

A girl ! It will make me feel my age.

Dear Angela, I think the persons age might influence the name.

Mostly a girl, sometimes a woman but I do like to fantasize that I am a girl and someone will make me a woman.

I always think of myself as a girl, I guess it's because I started dressing so young.

At first thought, at my age, I'd prefer girl just to make me feel good. But then in guy mode at the same age wouldn't want to be called boy. So decided woman is best.

My initial response is woman, but the idea of girl is rather fascinating.

Here in a semi-rural part of Maryland it's practically customary for women to call each other - and sometimes even to address men with whom they're only casually acquainted as - "dear", "darlin" and "hon". The men don't refer to women that way in public. I once nearly burst out laughing when a woman working at a deli counter used all three of those terms in one sentence while chatting across the counter with a female friend of hers.

I get a nice little CD rush when they address me (in drab) that way :)

Men here sometimes refer to a woman, in the third person, as a "gal", or a group of women as "the gals" or "you gals", often in a complimentary way, and women here don't take offense to the term.

"Chick" and "babe" are definitely out ;)

Whether in the boy or girl mode, I don't want any form of title that indicates "senior" status. Examples being Mr., Mrs., Sir, or even M'am. I would prefer just my name, either first or last, male or femme. This has less to do with being reminded of my age than it does self perception. Regardless of how long I live I'll never think of myself as a senior citizen. I've always related to that saying "Mr. xxxxx was my dad".

When I go to the store and buy clothing, the clothing tag says women or womens on it so I prefer the woman title.

As with most of these questions
It really depends on the context in which it is used,

e.g. you might have someone reply to you post saying "go girl"

or "you really are a beautiful woman"

Or maybe "your one terrific lady^

Im sure most of us dont really worry to much as long as the attached comment is complimentary

Oh and I once heard it quoted

"Being a Woman is knowing when not to be a Lady"

I prefer the term Lady, since it implies a sense of dignity and propriety. But I really dont care as long as I get to dress to the 9's.

Because I am into the little girl side of cd/tg beside my adult side it depends on how i'm dressed and feeling. for example this morning i wet with two other cd/tg friends that are big into the little girl side and we had a tea party and plaied hopscoch ect. The acting adult called us girls as right for the age we represented at that time. When I changed into my dress did my make up and got redy to do my errends I am an adult woman and that is what i would be called.

I have found that if I say something like "Hey pretty girl" to a middle aged woman it returns a smile. It's a compliment to them. If I were to say this to a woman in her twenties she may not see it that way. I remember once having a customer of mine who is about 44 come into my store and I said, "Hey pretty girl", she smiled at me and said, "Heavy on the "girl".

I do like respect for age, and therefore like to hear the terms Maam, and Sir, but if I were out en-femme and a gentleman looked at me and said "Hey pretty girl" I would certainly feel complimented. Followed by blushing, of course.

Woman at times and girl at times. I guess it would be how it was being used. Both are ok with me. Oh hell! At my age, it's all good. Hehehe!
