I applied for my US Passport today! The lady at the Post Office who accepted my application, and who does up to 20 passport applications per day, saw no problems or issues at all with my paperwork or supporting documentation, which included my shiny new female Driver License and Birth Certificate. So in about 6-8 weeks I should have a passport with my female name and gender! Whoo hoo!

No immediate travel plans, but I want to make it easier to travel by air. Oregon won’t start issuing ‘Real ID compliant ‘ driver licenses until June or so of next year. They keep getting extensions from the TSA to allow our licenses to suffice as ID for domestic air travel. But the way things have been going, I want an alternative for proving my identity.

Mostly, however, I want it as solid ID that ‘proves’ I am female. Pretty hard to argue with a Federally issued Passport!

Ceera, the last part of your answer is the one I like more, a solid and unquestionable proove of identity...
Nice.

fab - you must travel! I've just come back from my second trip to Sweden (via Holland), and was "Madam'd" at every turn. Whereas in the past I reckon no-one spoke to me, this time I even had casual words from strangers at the airport.
