Was at my local meetup last night in Washington DC, which involved dinner at a restaurant and karaoke at the bar upstairs after dinner. There was a group of 9 or 10 sitting in the restaurant finishing up dinner. A young girl, about 11 or 12 walks up and asks if we are drag queens. I answer yes. (I don't self identify that way, but I'll play). She says how much she loves drag queens and how we should be proud of what we are doing. She talks to us for a few minutes and when ending the conversation states "the reason some people don't like you, is cause they are jealous, because they can't do eyeliner as well as you do." So cute.

In case you weren't aware there is a big hoo doo about one boy kid who dresses like a drag queen.
Lots of negative press about all that even some are trying to draft legislation about this.
Me I don't care what the kid does and I don't think there needs to be legislation on the subject.
I'm tired of all the social media squabbles about it from both sides.
Tired of social media and main stream media as well.
We should all be free to do as we choose and parents should be able to raise their kids with out getting hammered on line.

Macey, her parents were there and we did complement them.

Well done. Few things can change behavior like peer pressure can. When the parents with the stick up their butts realize that the cool parents are accepting, maybe they'll unclench a little.

Great kid. It bodes well for the future, and provides an encouraging counterpoint to the present intolerant moods.

Jamie,
Sometimes a child can come up with the truth after they've listened to adult's comments . We never truly know why some people do take a longer look so I feel she's partly right judging from the comments I've recieved from GGs about their lack of ability with makeup.
I was only thinking about threads from members telling their stories of makeovers but I wonder how many women have them . The number of women I've spoken to have never had a colour match done and are so surprised I've taken the trouble .

That is a pretty funny story. Out of the mouth of babes comes wisdom, hmm? I have a similar (tho not eyeliner story)...So I'm at the local grocery story when a kid-oh, I dunno 5 or 6 turns to her mom and says loudly and excitedly "Look at his pink fingers, Mom!" In my defense, it WAS a nice shade of pink.
Jamie, that's a lovely story. It's really encouraging how accepting young people are becoming about the TG/CD community.

If it is the boy I think it is, it goes way beyond his dressing up. He has been exposed to some very dangerous people, people no child should be allowed to be anywhere near. His story is very disturbing.

Jamie, If only there was more positive attitudes like the girl that spoke to you there would'nt be half the anti problems we get at the moment.
